Lee seungi is so detestable, why is an ACTOR ruling the judging panel like this and gaslighting the other judges into doing what he wants? Who does he think he is??
The crazy part is he was also mistreated by his company and when that happened, he wasn't okay with it, but now he's standing up here without even flinching like this is okay. Although I agree with the fact that this show is extremely not okay and should be boycotted, it would be sad for the trainees if it got cancelled. I mean, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and they put so much effort into it, but all they're dreams may be ruined.
unfortunately it's more profitable for a company to think of them as some kind of objects that they can do whatever they want with and what's worse is that they want us to think the same so they can do as they please and none of us will complain
yinghao was right to speak up and it’s deplorable that the coaches are reiterating this toxic mindset of pushing idols to their limits. this is such an important video to watch and you did a really good job explaining everything! I would love to have supported the trainees and the group, but seeing what happened and how yinghao was treated after defending his fellow trainees, I won’t be watching
It's scary how this toxic mindset is so normalized especially in kpop. In the western industry it's normal seeing celebrities take breaks and rest, while in kpop it's not even an option. And some people might glorify idols and call them professional for pushing themselves beyond their limits at the cost of getting sick, but i don't see it as a quality to praise at all, as it just reinforces the stereotype that everyone should just blindly follow every single rule even when it's unjust.
i can understand why nobody alse spoke up, not everyone is willing to risk and do it, but i also think that in that moment every trainee should have united to put an end to that torture. They should have all collectively rebelled against such a thing. And if they all did, what would the judges have done? Eliminate them all? Punish them all? Obviously not, otherwise the show would have been over. If they all got together maybe they could have made the judges and the production understand that what they were doing was pointless and inhumane. But everybody always stays silent, and that’s why the industry never changes
I feel after that longhair guy (idk his name) spoke up about it, others should have stood up for him. Like even some few other trainees would have made a greater impact. As there is strenght in numbers.
This happens so often in jobs, life, etc and it's sad and frustrating because nothing can change if the only one with the nerve to speak against this kind of abuse of power end up standing alone. There are always people that will turn against them or stay silent so nothing changes when, as you said, all it takes is for everyone to stand together. If they all backed him up when he stood up to the judges, it would stop and the judges couldn't do anything to them.
@@mismismism exactly but there was even one trainee licking the judges boots "I can do this all day and there must be a reason why we are still here" etc 💀
Yinghao can be a leader of the group because he knows how to speak up for himself and probably for the group. He will surely not be abused or exploited by the management.
These companies need to stop sending their idols to judge if they’re not gonna stand their ground and give valid criticism like I’m sorry but they’re literally giving the arguably most inexperienced judge the most say in the judging panel. If they’re there just to promote themselves instead of doing actual judging then why tf are they there?? Idol judges have worked before but this time around they feel so passive? And clearly the promotion isn’t even working because most of them are getting flamed online now.
Yes for example Yoon (who btw is my bias and i love her dearly) is pretty good at her idol job, but as a judge she's totally unqualified. She's very young and you can tell she has zero experience in this, so it's weird seeing her in this role judging some people that are older than her and also have more experience (idols like Hangyul who have been in several survivals and several groups for example). In comparison, other idols in the judging panel such as Daesung and Eunbi are way better suited, as he's been in the industry for so long and she has past survival show experiences. Seungi is the main problem, nothing he says makes sense, he's probably the worst judge i've ever seen in a kpop survival show. The remaining judges i think they are just ok, i wouldn't say good though
@@vixxexo6855 absolutely, kpop fans that were sending her death threats are no better than the heartless people that are exploiting these trainees. That part could have been scripted, but even if it wasn't, i totally understand why she said that. That performance was horrible and the trainees needed to hear that plain and simple so that they could work better in the future to improve. Criticism is fair when it's needed, even if it's kinda harsh and i personally don't think Yoon did anything wrong there...
It is absolutely mind boggling that some of the judges were idols, who also spoke about mistreatment, were just sitting back watching these trainess on the brink of passing out. Sure, they may have some limitations, but if a trainee on the show is able to call out this disgusting behaviour, then it would not hurt them to do so to. There have been judges that spoke out about unfair treatment on survival shows to. I also hated how they kept sucking up to Lee Seungi. He probably doesn't even know much about the idol industry.
Sun Ying Hao was the only one who raised the most obvious red flag in this show. it's so ironic honestly, when the judges could tolerate this level of torture when they themselves were on the same place as theirs and could empathize instead. i don't know if it's because this level of abuse is normalized in the music industry. crazy how they made Ying Hao look crazy by going against him, including the contestants. i fear that Ying Hao will assume his bravery as being impulsive. NO YOU ARE NOT! you're just sane enough to know this is wrong.
I wished companies stopped sending their idols to judge on shows like these. Everything is done for clicks. Harsh comments that were probably prompted by producers and tests that are past the boarder or cruel
the people getting upset with us for saying how fucked up the show just shows them as a person. The lack of empathy and morals these people have is insane. They see people literally collapsing and they say "It's scripted." But imagine being humiliated on camera and seeing people say its fake its fake, basically invalidating the trauma that it would've caused. Not only that but the lack of responsibility and thinking. What would they do if someone had a serious medical emergency? Put out a post saying I'm sorry? Like no, you are actively putting your contestants at risk and it was only ep2. Not only that, but the weird remarks they were saying about some contestants just left a sour taste in my mouth. I don't want to say too much about the judges because I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but lee seung gi specifically pisses me off the most. So I stopped watching it.
The racism and xenophobia nade me not want to watch but they kept getting more unhinged. Those boys should have backed Yinghao up, this is why things never change in kpop
debuted idols PRACTICE! under Professional training & health routines for AROUND 3+ months for ANY 90 minute concert they perform... These are new trainees and minors... getting FORCED to do something like this. Seunggi needs to be removed from the show NOW!
Also one more point to add i believe this show barely focus on vocals, vocals should be the main priority but trainees who are vocally talented are not that higher up in the rankings. for me personally i enjoy watching trainees showing their singing but this show seems to prioritize dancing and visual only
@lonelybobagirl actually the thing is the show tries to push the visual narrative but it doesn't work on the audience that much lol😂 if you would've seen the new rankings you would've known . The no. 1 is a contestant who by Korean beauty standard might not be considered handsome but is there standing on the top by his talents and potential. Same goes with the other top 7 (excluding the 5th rank coz Chinese fans be supporting this untalented contestant the most for some reasons ) they are not only visually pretty but see their fancams and would know all of them are ready to debut
“Judgement was flawed because trainees who deserved 0 stars received 1 star because they have potential but that’s not how it works” PLEASE LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE WATCHING GIRL GROUPS SURVIVAL SHOWS. Training is for improvement, debuting is for people that are READY NOW
The people saying they'll still watch the show under the guise of not wanting to ruin the trainees careers, y'all are the reason shows like this exist. There truly is an audience for *everything* . What guarantee do y'all have that your favs will debut? What guarantee do y'all have that even if they do debut that this show wouldn't have caused them lifelong trauma? What guarantee do y'all have that if they debut and this show didn't cause them lifelong trauma that their careers would be safe and nothing will derail it anyway?
And the most funniest shit is people are still babying the mentors like they didn’t bully and overwork the boys like please grow the fuck up they are grown adults and know what is wrong and right???
Why does he even have the final say like it should be based on the majority..tbh the other judges are making me dislike them cos it just screams lack of professionalism at the detriment of these innocent boys and real talent..from Syos no star to Hangyuls one star just bcos of his facial expression is ridiculous judgement
So true. I really hate it when that xinche guy got in. Also, their mindset is like I suffered while training as an idol so you should suffer as well. But I honestly do not want the show to be boycott because the youth3 wasn’t complete and it broke my heart seeing the final being stolen from these kids…
Let’s boycott the judges. The show can choose to change and it is a platform for these artistes who really want to debut to get a chance to do so. After all their hard work, I feel bad boycotting them. But I will boycott the judges.
Wth I’m a fan of lee seungi because of his roles, i love him in Vagabond but seeing this, I will not be supporting him in any way at all. What a cruel being
Guys I know that this is the worst survival show but if we boycott it now all the trainees hard work will go to waste so I think we should just let the show finish and stop any other shows from doing these things
Just so you all know Lee seungi isn't just an actor, he is a singer too. So, to say he doesn't deserve to be a judge isn't really valid. Regarding this show being problematic, I agree.
I'm aware that he is also a singer, but realistically speaking, was he really needed? We already have 2 great singers like Daesung and Hui among the judges and we also have a vocal coach. If Seungi had made comments about vocals i would have respected his opinion much more, but he was literally just making comments about the only things he has no clue about, which is kind of ironic.
Thanks for this video, let's ignore and boycott this show. It's just stupid and cheap stun to boost marketing. I liked Lee Seungi as an actor before, but from this show, I will probably never support any film he stars in in the future.
The entire show is backed up by the fanbase of 4-5 trainees I’m not even kidding😂😂😂 The show has very low views that not even popular songs could help it…
This is a great video and i agree with everything you said. I've seen some cruel survival shows (Ygtb, i-land, Mixnine etc) and i didn't think it could get worse then that but it did... This shit is just a joke. I can tell by the horrible treatment and problematic mindset going on that this isn't even going to come out with a well managed group. And unlike ygtb and i-land that atleast came out with a great group in terms of talent and music, i think if this survival program keeps only focusing on visuals over talent i bet the group itself wouldn't even come out well. Overall it's looking like a hot mess
I can't help but watch it tho. It's so entertaining not to mention all of the contestants and yinghao himself even jokes about it so if it was serious then nobody would joke about it even himself. I still respect him for what he did tho
Crusty expired Seunggi needs to put his words in action. Go On seunggi! dancing non stop for 90mintues, like ATHLETE intervals. Go on HAG! NO water or toilet breaks too. OH and the challenge starts NOW! no prep or physical training to do it. JUst GO! I want EVERYONE to boycott Seunggi too after this! He's meant to be their 'guide' and senior who looks after them... not their abuser... funny how the tables turn seunggi. :/
Why do these survival shows are starting to look like those psychological experiment facilities? Those are still kids. And there's absolutely no need to traumatize them in order to prepare for debut. Life is already tough as it is They aren't training artists at this point. They are training good looking robots, which they are not. I was never a fan of LSG, kinda don't find him attractive as an actor, his singing is kinda mediocre too compared to many other solo singers of the same caliber. Although he is known as a good singer, he has never been an idol. He doesn't know how exhausting it actually is to dance and sing at the same time. And this video makes me dislike him. It seems like he's just using his "great senior" card to pressure other judges and the kids. And it is looking ugly These kids speaking up won't change anything. They need already established idols to speak up for them, we need big names such as EXO, BTS, TWICE, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN and etc. to speak up for them and speak loud!
The other contestants that say he can do it all days are obviously shading LSG, and he did thanks SYH for speaking up. If he, in fact, did that, too shut SYH mouth. Do you think they would be so close? They always can be seen together at bts clip. Other than that, u can see ivan quoted at syh leg cast "i can dance all days" in one of the pic at x. Even at mini fan meeting, it show how close they are.
Those stil watching the show, know that you are in fact supporting abuse under the guise of it being the right thing, the right thing is almost always the hard thing and in this case, that would be to not support the show. Voting without watching is still support, y'all ain't foolish no one but yourself with your fake morality 😒 mxm
@forevera5241 If you had watched the show you would've known many including Han GYUL AND LEE JUN HYUK ( former one is currently active as an idol and the later one is an ex- idol) have said this is gonna be their last survival show Like literally Lee jun HYUK gave up his dream to become idol after his group disbanded after 3 years of activities. He worked part-time in a coffee shop and that's when he heard about the starlight boys and joined it , he has said it's really is his last chance and there are many like him who could've opted for something different and more secure but didn't. Most of them are betting their entire careers over here Do you UNDERSTAND HOW SERIOUS IS THIS NOW ? . I understand you people's point of view and it's a valid point as well , if you want to boycott it . Fine . but don't label the other people who still wanna stick around as BAD . Your perspective and ours are just different. You people prioritize something else and so do we .
I watched the first episode and that pissed me off, and then the beginning of the second episode preview was like okay now we’re torturing them :D and I was like ok I’m not watching this bs
This is the entertainment industry. So those who want to go into it will have to decide for themselves to what extent they would have to go even at the risk of their health or even their lives. It is like selling your soul to the devil. People would do anything for money and fame. The people behind these shows know that... Btw, kudos to the trainee that spoke up.
Alot of people go into entertainment industry because they are genuinely passionate about it and can be a great opportunity for them, not just about fame and money.
I'm feel very complicated about this situation... The matter is... I really want to see the three of them (the answer team which includes the person who spoke out i.e sun yinghao) make their mark on k-pop too... They are already in their higher ages - 98 to 02 deemed too old to just debut in korea... I followed them since their last survival show and they literally were one of the bests the show had in regards of skills... But of course the many controversies that happened in youth with you 3 derailed their momentum of their final group (we didn't even knew if their debut will happen for months as the final episode was banned to air live) and the govt outright banned survival shows occuring in China (not because they glorified abuse but because the proposed center of the group was a dual citizen and putting extra votes in milk bottle caps lead to wasting of milk)...
Is there a way people can report Starrlight Boys. Also, having trainess wear a sticker on their shirt saying if they're 'Good' or 'Bad' is also very toxic.
I really like BAE173 and half of the members are in this show and the other in Project 7. I was planning to pick up after the auditions (I find those episodes really boring) for SBs but after seeing the title song mission I decided to not even give it a chance. I dare to say that the members in SBs are not having a good time, they're performing great because they're professionals but I don't see them enjoying the stages, while the members in Project 7 are having fun and even got the MVP title.
I just finished watching the 2nd ep and its so conflicting because i understand what you mean by not supporting the show or finalized group but there are so many trainees who truly want this career id just feel so bad if they had to start over especially given all theyre willing to put up with to make it. Its so heartbreaking
I'm a 60 year old woman from the USA, and thoroughly enjoyed watching the first episode. But that second episode literally had me IN TEARS....why would they torture those young men like that?!? I agree SO MUCH with that one young man (Sun) who interrupted the MARATHON of abuse those young men were going through. That was RIDICULOUS!!! Yes, the judging WAS A JOKE!! That signal dance.. over and over and over... that's definite mistreatment of those boys!!! Hell... after the 9th or 10th time of that dance, I'd be exhausted, too!!! I will NOT be watching any more of this torture show!!! You're only showing the rest of the world MORE PROOF of WHY Kpop is viewed as HORRIBLE AND ABUSIVE.
Boycott is not the solution here you will just put the boys efforts in vain. The solution here is to be vocal about our frustrations to the production crew and mentors. Im sure they are aware of the hate they are getting from fans like there are articles getting out from kpop platforms like allkpop. They need to take lee seunggi out cos that man is useless in the show
i understand being mad at the show and judges, i am too because iqiyi survivals have never been this cruel before, but i think calling for a boycott is just unfair for the trainees who are doing their best to debut, especially sun yinghao, duan xingxing and liu guanyou (yoo gwanwoo) who had a very traumatic experience in their past survival, this might be their last chance
That can even be attempted murder they literally made them dance for so long one of them could have passed away from that they even needed oxygen I want them to apologize with tears I'm not joking
I wish these boys didn't participate in the show at all. Go study music and dance in proper place, then find opportunity to showcase your talent by participating in proper competitions/festivals etc. Avoid survival show like this. If the show is not held and not judged by the company you're already asigned to, avoid it!
fans were already mad when the judging panel was revealed since this show was supposed to be the continuation of the youth with you saga, but in korea. having a lot of chinese trainees but not a single foreign judge was already a problem
I'm still voting for my picks but im not watching anymore. If this is what they consider "entertainment" I'm out. Tbh I'm really just waiting for Universe League cause that seems like the only quality survival show right now.
Out of the three ongoing survival show which are Starlight Boy, Project 7, and SCOOL, I thought SB and P7 are going to be a better survival show as compared to SCOOL. But, it turned out SCOOL is far better. Sure, SCOOL also no perfect, but for me obviously better.
I disagree on the talent assessment but overall I think you have good reasoning. I don't believe that the music industry anywhere is build solely on "best vocals" or "best dancing" or even "best visuals"..... it has been shown time and time again that you don't have to be insanely talented in order to sell records. Sometimes people do fall in love with a person's personality or their character and no so much with their singing or dancing.....and that's okay. There is more than enough room for artists to grow. This idea that unless you come out the gate A1 then there's something wrong.....is weird. Groups sell because the audience enjoys them and they are enjoyed for different reasons. Personally, I'll take a charismatic and adorable boy with mid singing and bad dancing over a polished vocal powerhouse but there's nothing interesting about them. I like my artists human and something I can relate to. For me, they don't have to be able to sing and dance like Chris Brown for me to like them and I think we need to start normalizing imperfection. It's human....and it's real.
I absolutely agree with you as far as talent is concerned. Talent is not everything, there are many more things that matter when it comes to idols and i myself am a fan of certain idols that you wouldn't necessarily call "talented" in dancing, singing and rapping. I also understand your point about choosing charisma over talent, the thing is that some of the contestants that were given higher scores than they deserved weren't necessarily more charismatic than the others.I actually think that the most charismatic contestants were all praised for their ability to stand out and they all got the rankings they deserved, even if they were by no means "perfect". Then let's talk about the pretty boy who got one star just for his visuals (which was my main issue). In that case we can't even talk about charisma because he had none. He looked like a petrified deer caught in the headlights while he was on stage and there really was no redeeming quality about his performance. I agree with normalizing imperfection, but there needs to be something that balances those imperfections out, such as star quality and charisma. It can't be just visuals because let's face it, in the end nobody wants a visual that performs like a robot. That doesn't feel human, just like talent with 0 emotions doesn't feel human either.
@@soft4taeng I feel you. Though I think it's hard to come to such a conclusion based solely on one performance. In my opinion, that's asking a lot for someone who doesn't know what they're doing or aren't yet comfortable on stage. These show concepts originally thrived on audiences loving to watch the contestants *progress* . Clearly these boys did a round or two of auditions before they were even officially cast to appear on the show. I don't think they just picked random kids up off the street haha. Whether they froze out of nervousness or didn't perform as well as they could have, or even if they're just adorable, I don't think there's anything wrong with using potential in itself as a qualifier. It's not a mere talent show and I guess that's really my point in all this. I can think of many artists who struggled a little when they first started performing and are now some of the best performers the world has ever seen. Many of the world greats were like that. I can't imagine what would have been if they were cut down simply because they froze in an audition once or didn't do as well as they did before. I think these shows are often way too critical for absolutely no reason.
I don't understand personally why is "Lee seungi" an actor a judge on kpop idols survival show most of the time he has the most to say? Like I don't get it what can he judge??? Face expressions? that's the least of my concerns watching and idol perform.
Lee Seungi was also a singer tho? A very good one at that. He was a singer first and then an actor. I don't think it's weird to have him as a judge, I'm just confused by the commentary he gives here, 'cause he has been a judge on other shows too and gave good constructive criticism and praises to the singers there. I'm genuinely quite confused at the turn of his commentary on this show ngl.
TBH i don´t believe that ANY talentshow is real.I don´t mean that these young men didn´t suffer but there are so many things going on behing closed doors. We don´t know what the jugdes get paid for playing along, we don´t know if the result is allready known etc. Shows like this are scripted af! I really don´t get why ppl are even watching these shows and as cruel as it sounds but i can´t feel sorry for tthe boys, maybe besides the one who spoke up.He had the balls to do but all the others? Well they choose that path and if they don´t see what´s wrong in there than sorry , you´re dumb af! HOW can you NOT realise HOW serious it is if you have to use an oxygen machine??As long as ppl like most of these boys exist the industry will NEVER change so don´t blame the industry only
im not disagreeing with you, i just like to point out that lee seunggi is also a singer so thats why people are listening to him. if he wasnt im pretty sure he wouldnt be a judge in the first place
bad take. these trainees worked their asses off and we literally saw their most desperate moments yet you're telling people NOT to support them? it's not even about the show or the production company it's about the trainees. if no one supports them, all their hard work would've been for nothing and that is way too cruel. if anything it should make people want to support the trainees more. they all have moving backgrounds and motivations, for many it's pretty much their last chance. these trainees deserve it more than anything. boycotting will do nothing except harm and it is NOT the right thing to do.
what's even worse is them debuting and having to spend years in a horrible company that doesn't care about their wellbeing. failing in a survival show is a temporary setback, but having those horrendous contracts will fuck them up for life
@@rosiejen it's not gonna be a TEMPORARY SETBACK FOR MANY . @@rosiejen and the we don't know if the company that is gonna manage them after show is gonna horrible or not so idk where that speculation is coming from ...
Not supporting a show because you think the producers are doing a bad job while knowing that there are people on there that are voluntarily putting themselves through this for a chance at achieving their dreams is wrong. You speak about how the show is treating their trainees like shit, well, actively calling for the boycott of a show is also treating the trainees like shit. It's a big ass company. One bad rating of one show is not gonna ruin it but then you are calling for the boycott of not just the show but also the group because you don't agree with how you think they will be treated while encouraging everyone to treat them like shit is hypocritical as hell. Companies keep debuting groups even after a couple of then fail. When a group fails, it is them who fall, not the company. The fact that so many of the contestants are from survival shows or are already debuted means they are desperate and you are actively calling for their lifeline to be cut. 1st. Seungi is not just an actor. He was a successful singer. yes, he cannot dance. But the dance coaches cannot sing. Not all the judges are idols and do everything. Judge panels have specialists. Singer, dancer, rapper and a couple of idol judges. 2. Every idol produce show ever this far has passed a 'Visual' for the sake of his visual. Let's not pretend Seungi is the first one to suggest the 'visual is a talent' and gaslighted the other judges and the world into it. 3. The test was fucking torture, I agree. And I do think Seungi was too much with how he spoke about it. I don't think the trainees were denied water because we see clips of them having oxygen masks in the short breaks they were allowed. Do you think they were given masks and denied water? If that was the case, we would have seen the trainees gulping down a bottle as soon as they were selected and in the podium. And it was not so. The test is still too much and they shouldn't have done it. No need to add another made up torture to justify hating on it. 4. Seungi spoke up about the test but he did not create the test. The producers of the show did. Some people are confusing the 2 because they think Seungi is the root cause of what's wrong with the show when it's the showrunners who are the root cause.
The situation is neither black nor white, there are many things to consider. Of course i'm aware that boycotting the show means possibly ruining these trainees' future careers, but supporting them through this inhumane path that they are taking feels pretty wrong too, that's why i said that everybody has to decide what to do based on how they personally feel about this. I will never attack those who don't wanna boycott because we're all free to do what we want, but people who don't wanna boycott shouldn't make people who wanna boycott feel guilty. We can all have different views and i know where i stand. 1. lee seungi is also a good singer, fair enough, then he should just comment on singing, NOT comment on performance and what it means to be an idol or what you should/shouldn't do if you're an idol. We already have idols among the judges and have a dance teacher to comment on these things. You don't see the dance teacher commenting on people's vocals, right? Then why is seungi, a singer, commenting on dancing and performance? Why is he commenting on everything but vocals? 2. visuals are important in kpop and of course they matter in survival shows. Nothing wrong with praising visuals, but it's pretty wrong to just "gift" somebody a star they didn't earn just cause they're pretty when there were people who worked their asses off to achieve the stars they got. 3. i don't care if they were given plenty of water, it doesn't change the fact this challenge was pointless since no idol will ever find himself having to perform for this long without proper breaks. It was simply a spectacularization of these trainees' sufferings. 4. yes, seungi is not responsible for this, the show is, but he was the only one who went out of his way to make those comments and we're all allowed to criticize him for this
@@soft4taeng you are not just saying, hey, I am choosing to boycott. You are actively calling for it. You say you don't judge the people who are not boycotting while also pointedly calling anyone who doesn't boycott to be hypocrites and also that not boycotting is wrong while the other is right? This is like saying- I respect your right to disagree but you are wrong and should be ashamed of it. It's passive aggressive and you are playing with these poor boys' career and life just as bad as the show is. I never said Seungi doesn't deserve to be criticized. But people are holding him responsible for the actual test and some are taking it too far. And yeah, I hated the fact that he defended the test. And the visual, let's not pretend it doesn't hold importance. It does. Visual is an official position in k pop groups. It is not just survival shows that has it. And it's not like he was given all star for just looking pretty. He was given 1 star and considering visual is a category in kpop, I would say it is inevitable that he gets one. The only one who really disagreed with it was the judge responsible for the dancing. Seungi did not brainwash all of the judges, the others agreed to it pretty quickly. And the other judges, not one of them ever spoke up about the test being unfair. They were pretty compliant with the cruel test and were happily taking their time passing candidates. Seungi is not some kind of god and leader there. Yes, a couple of the judges are new, especially the idols but the dance coach and the vocal coach have been judges for many shows and they are not gonna bow down and listen to Seungi without a thought of their own. They must have eventually agreed to it after listening to what he had to say. It is inevitable to have conflicting opinions and eventually a compromise has to be made. And Seungi's comment about Hangyul (I love Hangyul, ever since produce) is something I disagree with. I think they are being too harsh with him. And thankfully Hangyul is proving them wrong. Also, never said the test wasn't bad. It was bad as it was. No need to add inaccurate info as what we saw was bad enough.
@@bottomlime I'm saying why i personally think we should boycott, i listed the reasons so that people that think like me can take action and those who have a different opinion are free to disregard everything i say. Personally speaking, even though i believe a lot of people feel the same, i'd rather "ruin" these trainees' dreams rather than knowing they'll become idols under a company that mistreats them. Judging by what we've seen on this show, what makes you think such things won't happen behind the scenes even when the group debuts? I'd rather not support them than potentially support abuse. As for the visuals, i'm sorry but this whole thing of getting 1 star just for being pretty will never feel right to me, as if those who got 0 stars weren't handsome guys...then how come they got no star even if their skills (or at least their stage presence) were way better than that guy? And if you go and re-watch that part, you'll see nobody was agreeing with seungi, especially the vocal coach who seemed very conflicted until the end and even the other judges were not having it in the beginning. So yes, we can say seungi pressured them into agreeing with him, because otherwise they would have all voted to give him 0 stars. All in all, of course seungi isn't the main problem, because the show itself is, but among the judges he's surely the less qualified to be a judge, especially because all the judges are just speaking on what they know (the dance teacher speaks on dancing, the vocal coach on vocals...) but seungi just speaks on everything, even when he knows nothing about it and so he's just coming off as entitled.
None of these trainees do all that well when they’re part of these survival group shows. They always end up disbanding soon anyway after the group is formed. And only a select few will then go on to do anything or note once it’s disbanded. You can see this from the idols on the show who have been part of a few survival shows already. Voting on this particular show isn’t gonna change that
It's ok if you still wanna support, i'm nobody to stop you, but you have no right to try and make people that wanna boycott feel guilty for "ruining people's dreams". Some fans simply don't wanna be complicit in this show's exploitation of the trainees and you have to understand that.
@@soft4taengthen don’t watch the show , why are you saying they shouldn’t support the group even after debut . Some of the contestants especially the guys from BA173 and Fantasy boys came to the show as their last hope. If the group doesn’t do well their dreams are over. You think the show is toxic that’s fine ignore it. But the people you’re fighting for won’t appreciate what you’re doing if the show gets cancelled or something.
Why do you think a show this mismanaged is going to do a good job of managing a group afterwards? It is not the consumer’s responsibility to ignore bad practices to overcome the oversaturation of the industry for a few people who will become the unlucky faces of the group. In addition, survivor shows are scams in general. If they were great at boosting people’s dreams the majority of them would have the majority of members going off to bigger and better things. The majority of them fail tho, because all these shows care about is getting viewers for the next season not these idols careers
@ Well that depends on the fans at the end of the day, a lot of great groups are born from survival shows. Personally I’m not sure what you think is so mismanaged about the show. Anyways fact stays that instead of criticizing everything and boycotting you can show support to the boys. Look at seunghan for instance , a lot people blame SM but it’s still the fans they did the most damage if we’re being realistic.
Its probably scripted for entertainment ffs. Have yall ever seen suvivor, feaf factor, or other American survival shows. The drama is manufactured for entertainment and shock factor. Just don't watch it, if you're that delicate. Its not like they can't just eliminate themselves whenever they want to. Go back to Disney. 🙄
I've pretty much seen every single kpop survival show and i totally know most things are scripted, but i'm sorry, these guys were suffering for real and that whole challenge was one of the most dangerous i've ever seen in a survival show. The drama is manufactured but those trainees' suffering was not and if you don't care about their well being, that speaks volumes on you as a fan.
@soft4taeng You do know they can leave at will right? Again...American survival shows like Fear Factor, Naked n Afraid, and Survivor do way worse things. Its scripted for entertainment. Half those judges probably just playing their character given and yall over in prek crying abt it. You're too gullible for survival shows. Should be PG13+
Survivor is actually a show about survival. Fear factor is creepy but harmless. This is a KPOP show that is about preparing trainees for debut. I have no idea what training the signal song mission was when they didn't get breaks and had to perform the same over and over again. We didn't even get to see if or how they improved...it was more like the judges watched and would go "this person stood out...I choose them!" It wasn't enjoyable for the fans to watch and was not enjoyable and it was very hard on the trainees. Even debuted idols said it was cruel! Idols who HAVE performed in concerts! I dont believe these trainees know what they were signing up for as the producers don't reveal each mission until it's time.
@@kpoppy9635 Its still a survival show. They have to script drama and shock moments for viewer engagement. There are many more American ones. ANTM was worse than this.
@@kanohane I also think ANTM was a horrible show. I've only seen a model/photographer react to that show cause she calls them out on their BS. But I haven't seen the episode where they have to exercise over and over and over again without breaks or water and push their bodies to their limits so much that some of the contestants were hospitalized.
First of all, the stage structure is not safe. How come you asked many people to dance together on that dangerous stage? Second, the mistreatment shown freely on camera, has been going on in most record label. Talents are being treated like animals at the circus. As long as the fans keep encouraging this toxic industry, it will never stop
Lee seungi is so detestable, why is an ACTOR ruling the judging panel like this and gaslighting the other judges into doing what he wants? Who does he think he is??
Totally agree, like who is this man, I really dislike his whole attitude
Just because someone is a sunbae doesn’t mean they know EVERYTHING cough lee seungi cough
Its probably scripted. Ffs. 🙄
He's being paid to say this. Its still wrong but it's true. He is the producer's mouthpiece.
This is actually insane. Why can't they see idols as humans?
unfortunately it's more profitable for a company to think of them as some kind of objects that they can do whatever they want with and what's worse is that they want us to think the same so they can do as they please and none of us will complain
They want cash and doing stuff like this creates controversy. With will make more people know about the show.
I mean, they're called idols for a reason.
Cuz fans don’t and they run the industry
Cause they are marketed as exactly that, "idols".
yinghao was right to speak up and it’s deplorable that the coaches are reiterating this toxic mindset of pushing idols to their limits. this is such an important video to watch and you did a really good job explaining everything!
And some people might glorify idols and call them professional for pushing themselves beyond their limits at the cost of getting sick, but i don't see it as a quality to praise at all, as it just reinforces the stereotype that everyone should just blindly follow every single rule even when it's unjust.
lee seung gi was MAKING ME WANT TO PUNCH MY SCREEN
EXACTLY! He’s not even an idol and out here telling these trainees *well this is what idols do*
i can understand why nobody alse spoke up, not everyone is willing to risk and do it, but i also think that in that moment every trainee should have united to put an end to that torture.
Maybe they are scared to speak up because they are always taught to respect their elders it’s not like the western
@@Whoswhos12 he was shading lee seung gi clearly
Yinghao can be a leader of the group because he knows how to speak up for himself and probably for the group. He will surely not be abused or exploited by the management.
That's what I was thinking 😭💗💗
@@soft4taengI also feel people should not send Yoon hate. The part where she told them to stop clapping, could very much be scripted.
NO YOU ARE NOT! you're just sane enough to know this is wrong.
bro. she is frr how can they literally put an actor to judge a KPOP Survival show.
Someone like Sun Ying Hao MUST be in the group bro, otherwise this treatment will continue 😭😞😭
to me, it feels like they're just exercising power abuse... may the industry grow better.
I wished companies stopped sending their idols to judge on shows like these. Everything is done for clicks. Harsh comments that were probably prompted by producers and tests that are past the boarder or cruel
3:43 you explained it PERFECTLY, 4:08 especially here. This is so inhumane, it SHOULD be common sense but nooo
the people getting upset with us for saying how fucked up the show just shows them as a person.
I wish not to boycott the show but boycott the judges, there's so many trainees who should debut
Lee Seung Gi 🔨🥱
If people don't watch they don't get this chance to debut
@@mork4971 it's better my faves don't debut than have to spend years in this hellhole
@@rosiejen you dont get to decide that for them. theyre adults and will leave if they no longer want to be involved

The judging inconsistency is so obviously fueled by bias and race, Syo recieving 0 star and others recieving 1 just for looks 😐
The entire show is backed up by the fanbase of 4-5 trainees I’m not even kidding😂😂😂
The show has very low views that not even popular songs could help it…
Seunggi saying its the fans right to enjoy the performance....... sir this is not THG, i am not enjoying seeing people die on stage lmfao
Finally someone talked about it. I was disgusted by the show
I can't help but watch it tho. It's so entertaining not to mention all of the contestants and yinghao himself even jokes about it so if it was serious then nobody would joke about it even himself. I still respect him for what he did tho
and another thing people who were way less talented then others were put in places of people who worked hard and well deserve it.
i think eric is the only judge whos actually reasonable
Crusty expired Seunggi needs to put his words in action. Go On seunggi! dancing non stop for 90mintues, like ATHLETE intervals. Go on HAG! NO water or toilet breaks too. OH and the challenge starts NOW! no prep or physical training to do it. JUst GO!
I want EVERYONE to boycott Seunggi too after this! He's meant to be their 'guide' and senior who looks after them... not their abuser... funny how the tables turn seunggi. :/
쇼 shouldn’t have gotten zero star.
Well they only listen what k fans want and international fans are ignored even if international fans are in majority
Yeah when they were doing the signal song challenge and forced to dance infinite number of times … it looked like a scene out of Squid Game
Why do these survival shows are starting to look like those psychological experiment facilities? Those are still kids. And there's absolutely no need to traumatize them in order to prepare for debut. Life is already tough as it is
They aren't training artists at this point.
And it is looking ugly
These kids speaking up won't change anything. They need already established idols to speak up for them, we need big names such as EXO, BTS, TWICE, BLACKPINK, SEVENTEEN and etc. to speak up for them and speak loud!
Smh tragic 🤦🏾♀️
Who does lee seungi think he is
The other contestants that say he can do it all days are obviously shading LSG, and he did thanks SYH for speaking up.
I don’t want to support K-Pop, and I definitely don’t want to support this I believe.
Visual is talent?? 😂 Right, the talent of their makeup artist I guess. As if that contestant is the only good looking one.
i thought the thumbnail was Felix lol but this is terrible, survival shows are always suffering but this is brutal
I've watched only one episode and stopped. Must've felt that something is off because holy sh1t. Poor guys.
This the worst ever talent judging ever. They are torturing the kids. The judges were disgusting.
But of course the many controversies that happened in youth with you 3 derailed their momentum of their final group (we didn't even knew if their debut will happen for months as the final episode was banned to air live) and the govt outright banned survival shows occuring in China (not because they glorified abuse but because the proposed center of the group was a dual citizen and putting extra votes in milk bottle caps lead to wasting of milk)...
i could never be an idol, i would just start arguing right there, and on many other occasions.
Hopefully, Universe League won't disappoint me that much.
I'm sad that Kwon Eun Bi is on this shwo very disappointing
Yeah, that's exactly why I didn't watch Starlight Boys at all. This is the only video I watched related to Starlight Boys.
They need to take lee seunggi out cos that man is useless in the show
I love xin dont get me wrong but saying he can get a star cause he was more handsome?…its so mean and probably degrading for xin himself
i understand being mad at the show and judges, i am too because iqiyi survivals have never been this cruel before, but i think calling for a boycott is just unfair for the trainees who are doing their best to debut, especially sun yinghao, duan xingxing and liu guanyou (yoo gwanwoo) who had a very traumatic experience in their past survival, this might be their last chance
If the show is not held and not judged by the company you're already asigned to, avoid it!
fans were already mad when the judging panel was revealed since this show was supposed to be the continuation of the youth with you saga, but in korea. having a lot of chinese trainees but not a single foreign judge was already a problem
i dont think that the show should be boycotted cuz at the end it will be the loss of the boys but lee seungi needs to get out
I'm still voting for my picks but im not watching anymore.
You just earned a subscriber !
Damn this Is so funny I laughed so hard during the whole thing
Literally what about this is funny.
@@Azzuallyright? Some people are strange
I think these shows are often way too critical for absolutely no reason.
why are so few actually speaking up about that online??
Because some are still defending their faves who are literally grown ups 😔
I just want to support candidates who are working hard to achieve their dream, which is why
VOTE FOR DUAN XINGXING, YOO GWANWOO, SUN YINGHAO 😂😂
this is just pure stupidity
is the show entertaining to watch?
universe league is sooo good thoo
I still watch the show. I watched episode 4 today
no one cares
How to boycott? I want to support the trainees
Idk how
Ps: Eric not showing up shows how messed up the show is
bad take. these trainees worked their asses off and we literally saw their most desperate moments yet you're telling people NOT to support them? it's not even about the show or the production company it's about the trainees. if no one supports them, all their hard work would've been for nothing and that is way too cruel. if anything it should make people want to support the trainees more. they all have moving backgrounds and motivations, for many it's pretty much their last chance. these trainees deserve it more than anything. boycotting will do nothing except harm and it is NOT the right thing to do.
what's even worse is them debuting and having to spend years in a horrible company that doesn't care about their wellbeing. failing in a survival show is a temporary setback, but having those horrendous contracts will fuck them up for life
@@rosiejen it's not gonna be a TEMPORARY SETBACK FOR MANY . If you had watched the show you would've known many including Han GYUL AND LEE JUN HYUK ( former one is currently active as an idol and the later one is an ex- idol) have said this is gonna be their last survival show Like literally Lee jun HYUK gave up his dream to become idol after his group disbanded after 3 years of activities. You people prioritize something else and do we .
@@rosiejen and the we don't know if the company that is gonna manage them after show is gonna horrible or not so idk where that speculation is coming from ...
AI voiceover 👎🏻
So what if it is ai voiceover 😒have some problem??
@@howeybloom yes, I do.
All in all, of course seungi isn't the main problem, because the show itself is, but among the judges he's surely the less qualified to be a judge, especially because all the judges are just speaking on what they know (the dance teacher speaks on dancing, the vocal coach on vocals...) but seungi just speaks on everything, even when he knows nothing about it and so he's just coming off as entitled.
we nugu enough, please vote and dont boycott
True 👍👍👍👍 Its sad the trainees are going to suffer bcoz of boycotting if people are indeed worried for them
None of these trainees do all that well when they’re part of these survival group shows. They always end up disbanding soon anyway after the group is formed. And only a select few will then go on to do anything or note once it’s disbanded. You can see this from the idols on the show who have been part of a few survival shows already. Voting on this particular show isn’t gonna change that
Shut up and watch the video
@@Curlyygirl-sz4jlthey are already suffering
Yes, vote so the company gets more money and can continue to overwork them and do it all again in another show once they break them
We’ll still watch it anyways 😬. Boycotting will only destroy the boys dreams.
This is how y’all always ruin people’s careers.
@@nifemialabi4955I see from both your perspectives the point that you make is right
Why do you think a show this mismanaged is going to do a good job of managing a group afterwards?
We didn't even get to see if or how they improved...it was more like the judges watched and would go "this person stood out...I choose them!"
It wasn't enjoyable for the fans to watch and was not enjoyable and it was very hard on the trainees.
