      @@planetlenz thanks. Yeah gonna check out all your other videos in the Canaries also. Probably best place to go for me to escape the bleak British winter. Might do some island hopping. Just getting a flight and taking my tent and hiking gear. Great vids by the way. I'm in Norway in the summer on a motorcycle adventure so hopefully do some hikes there also. 👍😀

    I did the Gr131 section of La Palma very steep island with gear for sure...amazing place up in the hills

    • @planetlenz
      @planetlenz  Год назад

      Thats awesome. How long did it take to complete?

    • @thefun-employedadventurer3011
      @thefun-employedadventurer3011 Год назад +2

      I managed it in 3 days with gear the hardest day was doing 20 miles the last day and knocking off the 8000ft decent back down to sea level off Muchachos I ran out of water and was cramping up so hard going down the zig zag path.

      @@thefun-employedadventurer3011 Dammm. Yeah its not like the Alps where you can find water everywhere. Thats a super solid stats sheet for one day It's crazy how the elevation gain stats gets up there. We did 14,400 meters in the month we were there.

    Great video, thanks! I'm going to hike in la Palma in November. Which part(s) of the island do you recommend visiting the most? There is the GR130 trail that circles the whole island, but how about the GR131 (through the middle of the island), do you think it's a must-do? Thank you!

    • @planetlenz
      @planetlenz  2 месяца назад

      North west and south. There is a trail that goes from Los Canarios straight through the route of craters. I mould highly highly recommend taking that from the south up to the caldera de taburiente, do the rim of the national park and then follow the GR131 around clock wise. Make sure toy stop in La Fajana rock pools, they are epic. If you find the map you will see there is a GR down the middle that I am talking about

    Thanks for the interesting tips. There aren't many hiking videos of La Palma on RUclips.
    I'm planning a hiking holiday in La Palma and although I plan to walk more challenging routes than you, I've discovered places I didn't know about and adjusted my plans according to it.

      You will love it, which ones are you looking to do? We'll hook you up all the GPS points. Everything we did was free parking and we camped in our van at almost all the departures points of the hikes

      Oh thank you! All of the hikes are beautiful but we don't have time for all of them.
      We would love to do;
      - Pico de la Nieve
      - Cubo de la Galga
      - la cresteria - Roque de los muchachos
      - Bejenado
      - Ruta de los volcanos

      Pico de la Nieve - www.alltrails.com/trail/spain/mallorca/pico-de-la-nieve-pr-lp3?u=m&sh=xau4rt
      Cubo de la Galga - www.alltrails.com/trail/spain/la-palma/cubo-de-la-galga-mirador-somada-alta?u=m&sh=xau4rt
      Roque de los muchachos - We parked here and hiked along the edge to the view point. SUper easy and beautiful following the ridge. goo.gl/maps/rkeYZLQbAUtWmqxh6 there is also parking here goo.gl/maps/YrscSgxnz7GwFHYq8 ...... you can also park at the top for the viewpoint without hiking if you don't have enough time. The hike from the point I gave you will also get you very close to the telescopes.
      Bejenado - www.alltrails.com/trail/spain/la-palma/pico-bejenado?u=m&sh=xau4rt - You dont need to do the full loop, once you get to the ledge you can explore a bit further along the beautiful cliff and then loop back
      Ruta de los volcanos - goo.gl/maps/gBHpeTXUN7pXNoi96 This is for the north side. The hiking is right behind the recreational area. you can just hike 9 to 10 km out and then back from there. To do the other side we started from goo.gl/maps/coyK3wKRmyMv6MTbA and then just found the trail with google earth. This is the full trail www.alltrails.com/trail/spain/la-palma/ruta-de-los-volcanes-via-gr-131-e7?u=m&sh=xau4rt ...... if you only do half, do the first bit I mentioned, more craters and 5% more beautiful, if thats even possible !😂😂😂
      Your going to love these hikes, We could do them all over again in a heart beat. Let me know if If I can help ya out with anything else 🤙

  • @marketingsam

    If you could only do three which would you pick?

    • @planetlenz
      @planetlenz  Год назад +2

      Easily Roques de Los Muchachos, The water fall Inside the Caldera de Taburiente and the Route of Craters in the Cumbre Vieja... It's kinda like asking what's your favorite child😂😂😂 Depends on the day. If you get to the Island in mid May to Mid June the Endemic Echium flowers are in bloom at the Roques de los Muchachos 😎

      Yeah man La Palma is doing it big times. I knew it would be good but it's way better than what I could have imagined. This video doesn't do it justice, it's impossible to capture the magnitude of awesomeness in those mountains

    Enjoyed your video so much we've decided to go. Which part of the island is best as a base for hiking? Do you need to rent a car to get to most of these hikes?

    • @planetlenz
      @planetlenz  10 месяцев назад +1

      That awesome, You will love the Island. I would definitely rent a car. If you line it up right you can even do 2 hikes in a day. We went with our Van from the mainland, but renting a car will be the way to go. 100% easily one of the best places for hiking in all of Europe. If you want a central base, the Capital is good, if you want to move around a bit, spend a night or two in La Fajana - We made a full video on the area. Puntagorda is beautiful and close to good spots. Los Canarios and Los Llanos are also fantastic spots.

  • @JasonChambersPhoto
    @JasonChambersPhoto Год назад +1

    Awesome videos guys, is there a central place to stay to hike from the front door?

    • @planetlenz
      @planetlenz  Год назад +1

      Hmmmm I would imagine there are a few in the north and in the rain forest on the east. Punta Gorda has some good spots and maybe look at Los Canarios in the south.
