  • Double Diesel Engine Chugging and Acceleration. Ride behind Ludhiana ALCO twins (WDG-3A twins) from Basai Dhankot to Gurgaon (Gurugram).
Onboard 14727 Shriganganagar - Tilak Bridge Passenger (Express fare).
    Stereo Sound. Headphones recommended.
"Double Engine Train" as we used to call them in the childhood. Sometimes it was an inactive locomotive attached which also created a double engine illusion. But once you have seen both of them puffing out smoke (in case of diesel of course), you were sure that the train has double power.
Those childhood days were naïve and innocent and we would think that double engine must be for higher speed of a premium status train.
But gradually we came to realize that Indian Railways focusses more on load capacity than speed. So, you could see a premium train with a single ALCO while a normal Mail/Express train would have twin ALCOs.
For all the people and even railway itself, these would be normal Mail/Express trains, but for us railfans, slowly these ALCO twin hauled trains acquired a special status in our eyes & heart, equal to, or in some cases, even higher than the premium trains (Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express).
