Jimmy grew up in the same town I'm from he lifted at a local gym he's married to a friend of mines sister so I got to know him pretty well and he's genuinely one of the nicest people you would ever meet and deserves every bit of the success he's worked so hard for all that he's achieved and I can't wait to see what he does in the future
It takes balls to place yourself under this huge weight. Not to much a fan of equipped lifting though but everybody finds their own way and happiness for that😊.
The fact that this man can support 1160 lbs with his arms is amazing in itself not even considering the fact he's moving it up and down. I doubt I could roll that amount of weight on a flat surface but then again I'm 165 lbs....
After the successful transition of Zamani from equipped to raw, I really want to see this guy switching to raw bench and show us what he can achieve after 1-2 years of training...
I can not wait for geared lifting to fade away. It has gone too far and is in no way a measure of strength. As a former geared lifter I can tell you that when I left it in a shirt, it was for the sole purpose of putting up numbers that I knew I could never do naturally, as an ego boost if nothing else. I’m a journeyman level raw lifter, 100% natural never having taken any steroids, with my best raw bench being 530 pounds. But at least I know that was really me lifting the way, not how good my shirt was in the groove, or how tight I could get it on, or what fabric my triple ply shirt was made of, or how long I could hold the weight without it being able to touch my chest, I mean seriously guys, it’s become a side show. Add it’s holding us back from being legitimized within the strength sports industry. Raw lifting has made a come back in recent years, and I’m so thankful for that, and I certainly mean no disrespect to the lifters that are doing geared lifting now, but I have become a purist in the truest sense, and want to see what men are capable of, not what fabric is capable of. I agree with some of the previous posts that it is very impressive to be able to hold that weight for that period of time , But at some point you’ll have to admit that this is not him lifting the weight. I won’t mention their names, but I’m friends with some of the best shirted lifters from the early 2000s, and I I know what they’re capable of doing Raw. And it’s crazy how impressive they are raw in their own right, but many of them would never lift raw, for fear that it would take away their stature in the sport. Scott Mendelssohn knocked down some of those barriers by being one of the best raw abs shirted lifters of his era, so there’s no reason that these guys could not be elite in the raw ranks as well, just as Zamani has been doing. Congrats on this incredible lift, hope to see you on the raw bench soon.
Completely agree with you. Equipped lifting - bench in particular - is a form of legitimised ego lifting. Moving a bar horizontally two inches and brushing your gut is not a bench, and anyone who claims it is a bench is making a mockery of the sport. Without this nonsense, powerlifting would have a much more serious reputation.
It comes down to this most raw guys blow their load in the sport at a young age get hurt and become just another flash in the pan lifter. You see a lot more equipped guys last longer in the sport because it’s less taxing on the joints. Ego lifting is just a term made up by weak people in reference to people who lift more than them. If you actually spent anytime training in a shirt you would know how it makes the lift anything but easier. Going raw for respect pride yadda yadda yadda only gets you ruined joints and an early exit from the sport
Lifting that much weight is impressive. I sincerely would like to see him bench conventional and raw. I'm not talking shit I just want to see what equipment, and arching your back does to your numbers.
Hey jimmy your the best out there I have questions for you I’ve been powerlifting for about 10 years my bench is 350 raw I really wanna switch to equipment but should I get my raw bench higher or switch to useing shirt like I want to I really would like your info on this thank you
Massive props to this guy for not having his arms just snap under the immense weight of this. But this is the record with equipment or is it still classed as a normal lift Because as well on some of the weights the spotters were helping him up and down or he was doing 1/2 a rep or 1/4 a rep.
As a powerlifting judge, watching someone bench without all these shirts is far more impressive. This is not a true reflection of a person’s natural strength. If he had put this effort into competing in powerlifting like Julius Maddox he would be able to compare himself with fellow competitors.
I'd love to see how much he could do without that Bench assist bands/shirt and with his back flat on the bench. Wait I'll get my robotic assist exoskeleton and press 4,000 lbs. LMAO!!
Geared lifting should be a training tool. To make you better, stronger for raw lifts. There is a reason only certain equipment is allowed in the Olympics. That's because they give an artifical advantage to lifters using them. Use suits, straps, etc. To train and stay healthy for the big raw lifts. I think having federations that permit them dimish the focus of the sport.
While the sheer weight is amazing his rom and the fact he needs help to return a supposedly completed lift to the lockout range...smh stronger than me though...
It's not proper bench press he's so fat an over weight he hardly has to lower it before it hits his big fat belly 🤣. I mean mad respect for been able to lift that that weight an lower it slightly to your belly buts can't be an official bench press. The guys a beast though 💪👍🤛👊
I know I'm going to take a lot of heat for this comment but what the hell is the point of a shirt to me it's just ridiculous with a shirt is good for is elderly people that have joint pains just to continue benching but as far as competition it's totally just ridiculous
I beat these guys are absolute beasts no doubt but i REALLY think the assisted bench should have a different name as it is really a complete different thing/sport then RAW bench, to many novice lifters get the 2 confused and put them within the same thing and the actual athletes kind of get there names lost in it all.

These guys don’t even bench correctly that’s a bs way to bench ..
Sure hes like 500 pounds himself, does 1/4 reps and uses an arch bigger than most bridges, but I'm ngl just holding that sheer weight is impressive
not exactly. He did it with full rom, even equipped. He is something around 300 or so, still impressive. Equipped is a whole different thing tho.

So true.
That’s a gut press, no pause, no lockout and arched back
