    June 9, 2020 . I enjoyed your video. I found it very informative. I've noticed that linking Sketchup 2020 did not work. I had to save the SketchUp model to 2019 for it to work. It was quite impressive when I saw it coming in to Revit. I say a big bravo for for this information that you share with all of us. in fact this subject could be repeated in more depth.
    there is only one thing I would like to mention about your video it is the music. I find it overwhelmed the subject in many ways. one could lower the volume quite a bit or even not have it.
    your voice is fine, it does not have to be filled with a background sound.
    I hope to hear from you again on the subject of Sketchup to Revit 2020
    I graciously say thank you

      It doesn't play well when a group or component is scaled or mirrored. Either you need to set it to scale definition, or explode to the raw geometry. If not, I have no clue.

    Great video thanks for sharing Joseph ! I was wondering if you did one in reverse. How to best prepare revit model to be imported into SKP? is there a way to keep all the revit materials on the geometry ? I usually receive Revit exports with one material on all faces or one material per layer. It would be great to know if you explored that topic.
    all the best!

    • @JosephKim
      @JosephKim  4 года назад

      A good topic suggestion Filip. :) I have explored this method and there are a few useful things, but material per layer is what I usually resort to as well. I don't think this is as important as materials in Revit aren't usually for visual purposes, but just quantity. Any specific reason you are needing to take Revit materials?

    • @filippiwowarczyk6332

      @@JosephKim Thanks for the quick answer. In my workflow once the project goes to more detailed stage plans are being drawn in Revit ( by another team member) but I keep working on the exterior and renderings (enscape) in Sketchup. When there are planning changes i need to import revit model again and apply materials once more. If Revit would keep the materials I could just exchange each material rather then go deep into component to color it them there. So esentially we keep the Revit model as technical and I use SKP to work with the looks adding people trees realistic textures etc and I am looking for a best way to bring revit model into SKP and assing correct materials.

My workflow is Microstation > export as Sketchup > import into Revit. I do all my material assignment in Revit. Have you had an error regarding "distorted imported items?" It happens when I have scaled or mirrored items in SketchUp and when imported into Revit they look "reset" as in back to the original component's form, dimensions, no edits etc.- so in short it looked like some components reset themselves to original when brought into revit. Thanks!.. great video.

    • @JosephKim
      @JosephKim  4 года назад +1

      Yeah, I have experienced that too. You can set groups and components 'scale definition' and basically, that locks its scale.
      I imagine if you have variety of scales of same objects, you would have to make all of them unique and to scale definition all of them?
