    FROM ALL TUTORIAL, THIS IS THE BEST

    Thank you very much, It was a lifesaver! Just a question, if I want to import my whole model (Building) from SketchUp, would the procedure be the same?

      Yes, you can import a whole model into Revit. If you're looking for Revit rendering, however, you will find that you might want to use Revit walls, floors, and ceilings, instead of surfaces from SketchUp. They take textured materials better. I think that Revit has trouble cropping imported object, too - for some reason, sometimes imported furniture, for example, might show up in a reflected ceiling plan.

      I got it. thank you very much Andrew.

    I've done everything step by step from Sketchup to Revit and my model refuses to render the materials I've set for it. I've deleted stuff. Remade stuff, assigned layers in Sketchup and everything to the tee and still doesn't work.
    Don't know why. It just is.

      It almost always comes down to a surface in SketchUp having some paint on one side or another. In the Materials palette, try deleting all the materials in the model. I think that'll return all objects to the default coloration, which should then work fine.

    Hi man, your video is really helpful, can you tell me what Macbook or Imac are you using to run REVIT? i see you are using parallels, I have a Macbook air and installed Revit in parallel machine, results were not as smooth as it looks in your computer. can you tell me about the specs?

    • @AndrewBrody

      It was a top-of-the-line MacBook Pro from about 4 years ago. I don't think an Air will run Revit - just not enough power. Frankly, it's cheaper to just buy a Window's desktop to run Revit, and use the Mac for everything else, which is what I do now.

    I just want to transfer the object from Sketchup to Revit but Render in Lumion. Do i still have to go thru all these procedures?

    • @AndrewBrody
      @AndrewBrody  6 лет назад

      I'd have to guess that if it'll render in Revit, it'll render in Lumion. But I'm not entirely sure...

    Applying the materials isn’t doing anything for me.. the model still stays grey with coloured mesh lines over it (even when I change the view to realistic) could it be because my file was a DWG downloaded from the internet, as opposed to being from the Sketchup 3D warehouse??

    • @AndrewBrody

      You applied materials in the Object Styles>Imported Objects... menu? Check to make sure you put materials on the right layer - that's often the problem. So long as it was a valid AutoCAD file, so SketchUp could import it, this technique should work. In SketchUp, was everything exploded? SketchUp applies layer (now called "Tag") assignments for nested objects based on the most internal layer, I think, so things might not be layering the way you want. Once you explode everything, select objects and place them on the intended layers. And make sure every face is painted the default material.

    but at the end you have streched out textures at chairs so this method had still big problems, becuase in the end renders will be bed. Do you have maybe some workaround or?

    • @AndrewBrody
      @AndrewBrody  2 года назад

      Yeah, not really. I think that problem has to do with the surface normal direction in SketchUp, but I've never figured out a complete fix. For something like a cushion, you can make Tags for each direction - so one for the sides, and another for the top and bottom. Then the normals issue resolves, but it's a pain...

    Hi, Andrew, your video is amazing but when I tried and render it, the model is showing black, so do you know what happed? thanks

    • @AndrewBrody
      @AndrewBrody  4 года назад

      If the whole Enscape screen is black, I'd have to guess that you're inside a wall. But you might also check Enscape settings - exposure, contrast should be automatic. But also make sure that it's daytime in your model! Unless you have electric lights, it may be that it's just the middle of the night...

    After i import into revit, in material list, i cant find these Render Material. How should i do???

    • @AndrewBrody
      @AndrewBrody  2 года назад

      I usually delete ALL materials from the SketchUp model before importing into Revit. To do this, in the Materials Menu, navigate to "In Model". Then there should be an option in the flyout menu to delete all. When you import it this purged out file, go the the Manage>Object Styles menu in Revit. On the Imported Objects tab, you'll see each Tag from SketchUp has a material applied with a name like "Render Material 255-255-255" or something like that. Revit gives each Tag from SketchUp a material based on the Tag color from SketchUp. You can change the parameters of this new material by clicking on it here, or through the Materials menu.

      Oh, and sometimes there's no material at all in the Object Styles menu - click in that field to add one...

    The edges were not moved into any layer

    • @AndrewBrody
      @AndrewBrody  4 года назад

      Edges can be tricky - do you have any hidden or "softened"? Be sure to display hidden stuff before selecting. And did you use a crossing window to be sure to selected everything? You should be able to change the layer (now called "Tag") for everything then, in the Entity Info dialog. If it's still a problem, switch to View>Face Style>Wireframe. Then use a crossing window to select all the edges, and you should be able to change their layer.

    What version of Revit did you use?

    • @AndrewBrody

      I think it might have been the 2017 release in the video, but the newer versions still work the same way
