From Wikipedia:
Port Arthur is a city in Jefferson County within the Beaumont-Port Arthur metropolitan area of the U.S. state of Texas. A small, uninhabited portion extends into Orange County. It is 90 mi (140 km) east of Houston. The largest oil refinery in the United States, the Motiva Refinery, is located in Port Arthur.
The population of Port Arthur was 53,818 at the 2010 census,[6] down from 57,755 at the 2000 census. Early attempts at settlements in the area had all failed. However, in 1895, Arthur Stilwell founded Port Arthur, and the town quickly grew. Port Arthur was incorporated as a city in 1898 and soon developed into a seaport. It eventually became the center of a large oil refinery network. The Rainbow Bridge across the Neches River connects Port Arthur to Bridge City.
Port Arthur is vulnerable to hurricanes and extensive damage to the city has been caused several times.
What a TRIP. I drove through there in 1987 on my cross-country road trip to move from the Haight Ashbury, San Francisco to New York City -- or Yew Nork Tity as Ramblin Jack calls it. My road buddy and I went into some abandoned old warehouse / nightclub, and some old weathered black man appeared outta nowhere and gave us some surreal tour of the huge 3 story joint, empty abandoned, some walls missing, old bar, stage, dank '70s style rugs and red velvet bedraggled. Blew my mind.
awww, I was hoping you'd go left at the end and drive on 4th and Lakeshore Dr. along the seawall. There are some really fascinating historic houses along there. It's sad to see my home town in such bad shape, the hurricanes have taken their toll but the dilapidation is mostly due to poor city management. PA used to be a thriving oil town way back in the day....
Nice driving in Port Arthur, Texas.
I felt bad about this city had been damaged
by the hurricane.
Thank you for this. I worked in downtown, in the early 1970’s. A vibrant community at the time.
Nice drive through downtown Port Arthur Texas.
Awesome More Texas 👍😎
Port Arthur does needs some TLC especially downtown, hopefully better days are ahead!
thank you keep it texas
Yes. More Texas to come.

Long Live Pimp C
Awesome vid! Any video of I-10 yet? 🤔🤔
I-10 coming soon
One big observation from watching many of your videos from different places is the common theme, there is a lot of decay everywhere. A lot of good people working hard, living there life but not able to get ahead. A lot of places have little to no jobs and nothing really keeping economy wheels spinning. It’s eye opening and sad
Also the lingering hurricane damage in alot of the places on the coast too. Port Arthur was ravaged recently by hurricanes like Laura.
True. Speaks to the general state of America, especially the smaller towns in the post-industrial age. Port Arthur downtown was one of the most bleak I’ve seen so far. I had to stop and take some pics and walk around the area for a bit. Almost felt post-apocalyptic.
@@allen123636 yes for sure salt on wound
@@MileageMikeTravels it looked post apocalyptic
Hometown of stak5!
What the hell was the noise at 17:52? It's actually two distinct noises - a bang and then what seems to be something falling on the road. It sounds like you hit something or something struck your car.
I lived in Port Arthur 1982 to 2005 ..My house 4635.Lakeshor Dr. Then moved to Houston...
i like that highway highway driven that highway takes my mind away from everyday bulls. thanks
Me mudare pronto a Port Arthur,no se como este este lugar
I been there 1991
I liked the area that had the trees in the neutral grounds. But they need more trucks in the city, I only counted 1,437,356 but may have missed a few. Come on Port Arthur! You can do better than that.
petition to rename this town to port o' potty
I live on Gulf way😳
Port Arthur is northeast Houston I think near Louisiana
That's right northeast of Houston and not to far from Louisiana
no it's just east of houston

That looks awful.
