      Perfectly clear......????
What's clearer than, Do Not Eat From that tree....????
Eve did NOT listen to Jehovah, as her husband Adam did the same. They didn't listen why would anyone think that anyone else would. He told Adam and Eve that you will die if you do, that didn't faze them. They still disobeyed........Because they thought that they knew better. The Devil said that they would become like God, knowing good from bad. Jehovah has kept quiet pretty much except for the people that listened to him.
Timothy wrote; All scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness. that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work. (2Timothy 3:16&17)
What happens when your children don't listen to you...????
They get punished....!!!! (most times) This life is a learning experience, let's hope you listen and learn.......or you might have to go off with the goats.

Remember that no matter how obvious the biblical contradiction, it can always be “harmonized” by the sheer force of the apologist’s will and through mental gymnastics. This does not mean their solutions are satisfactory for anyone who is skeptical, but they allow for those that already to believe to continue to do so by offering them a good enough answer.

@MrMattSax You comment : "Remember that no matter how obvious the biblical contradiction, it can always be 'harmonized' .........
The bible was not given as a newspaper, or novel to just read and assume it can be understood.
The so called 'mental gymnastics' came from people like Lloyd Evans and yourself if you agree with his failed attempts to explain what he doesn't believe in or understand
Every one of the so called contradictions the fella on here presents can be easily explained, probably not to your satisfaction but to anyone with a bit of common sense and the ability to reason, the explanations are very plausible.

@@MRFITTA I’m curious how your common sense and reason will explain the death of Judas. In Matthew he returns the money, throwing it on the floor of the temple, hangs himself and the priests use the money to purchase the field, earning it the name “field of blood” due to its purchase being made with blood money. In Acts Judas uses the money to buy the field and then falls headlong, his guts spilling out and earning the name “field of blood” because of his death. I’m excited for what won’t be “mental gymnastics” and will instead be “even a bit of common sense and reason” to explain away that one.

I have listened to your introduction. First, right off the bat, I checked the verses you mentioned, specifically the one about seeing God. The problem with your answer of "Yes" is that you are choosing just one line and not reading the entire context. That's the problem when we pick and choose a verse when reading the Bible. In Genesis 18:1 (ESV), it indeed says: "And the Lord appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, as he sat at the door of his tent in the heat of the day." If you just pick that one verse, one can literally assume that Abraham saw God. But if you go to the next verse, Genesis 18:2, it says: "He lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, three men were standing in front of him." If you read the entire passage, you will see that these three men are actually representatives of God.
You may not like the reasoning about what version of the Bible you are reading, but it does matter because the Catholic version is different from other Christian denominations. You mentioned that the Bible you used is from your previous Jehovah's Witness religion. I'm not a theologian, but the interpretation of "humans" also greatly affects what you deem to be contradictions. For example, for Catholics, which I was before, salvation is achieved by faith + works + sacraments. But for Evangelical Christians, which I am now, salvation is greatly based on "For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." -- Ephesians 2:8-9.
At any rate, what is the point of this entire video? That the Bible is fallible due to your assumed research based on your interpretations? So, therefore, it is not true? Then, therefore, God or Christ is not true? There are so many who want to debunk the word of God, yet after so many years, it still exists. Why? Because whatever justifications you may have, we will in the end know the truth when we all die. I hope you are right that there's no judgment day because the only thing that will happen to you is you will go back to dust. The alternative is certainly not great. So, I pray for you because, honestly, the religion you came from is not that great, and I can understand why you are probably doing this. Bottom line is, religion has nothing to do with us being saved but the grace God gives you through your faith in Him and your personal relationship with Him. And if I am wrong, that's okay because the worst that can happen to me if I am wrong is that I will just go back to dust. However, the alternative is much better for me than it is for you. God bless you, even if you don't believe in Him. 🙏🙏🙏

The point is that if the bible is the truth and God's word, God should know which was true and only include the truth in the book. The fact that the book states all three is a contradiction as all three can not possibly be true. In order for the bible to be true, it can only include truth, so if it is people's theories or deliberate lies, then the bible is not inerrant or true.

If your "self" "cherry-picks" verses, then what you say is true. What the rational materialist cannot grasp is that if you shake the cherry tree, only the ripest cherries fall.
And the experience by those who trust There Is A Bigger Picture, is that among the cherries which fall right where you are, because those are the ripest, the Sovereign Creator of the Universe (does Zeus or Odin, or a FSM really fit your mental picture of an SCU?) will decide which should fall right then, making those the perfect verses for you in your the need of the wisdom or guidance at that precise point in your life.
This is why women in prison often burst into tears (which are the start of their journey to wholeness) when given a Bible and they start reading, with openness and humility, when their soul has put forth the silent plea, "Father-heal me! Show me your will! I'm tired of making bad choices!"
The women's experiences in the White Chair Films on RUclips are a good start in exploring this territory.
Here I am, trying to explain what seeing the color of pink rose is like to a red-green colorblind person. To you I am talking nonsense, because what you would see is a color just as gray as all other grays of that intensity.
I encourage you to read the stories of just what color is "really like," written by atheists who have discovered who I Am truly is.
Colors beyond colors, seen for the first time with new eyes.
If you do shake the tree, it must be with the intent that you will honor and be thankful to He who planted, watered, and nourished it. And trust that if you eat it, you will be transformed, only if you are willing to be. Only then will you taste the true flavor what this experience is possibly like.

Everyone feels apprehension when talking about the Bible, God, and Salvation! I think the first thing to think about is there a God? Really only two answers yes there is a personal creator God with a purpose or yes there is an impersonal natural force god with NO purpose! These are the only logical options for truth!
If there is a personal God with a purpose then what is that purpose? Has He revealed it? If so are you obligated to follow? If so have you followed?
You can test yourself? Do you consider yourself to be a good person? Have you ever lied, stolen , etc?
What does it mean if you fail the test? What does it mean if you fail the test and there is a creator God w/ a purpose?
You see all fail the test! However the good news is by Grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as revealed in scripture alone, for the glory of God alone! We can be saved! We are save by faith NOT works! God calls us to trust Christ, turn from our ways, and show good works as a result of our salvation!

@@holirumicsfriend A slight tweak to your options:
There is a personal God or gods (theism)
There is a non-personal God or gods (deism)
"Gods" are personifications of natural forces and processes.
_"If there is a personal God with a purpose then what is that purpose?"_
There is an ambiguity in this question. A God could exist that has a purpose, and that would have nothing to do with us. It doesn't _necessarily_ follow that a God with a purpose entails _we_ are the subject of that purpose. For instance, a god might have the purpose to fill the universe with as many different life forms as it can before the universe reaches its heat death. That would explain why we are here but there is nothing incumbent upon us by reason of that purpose.
      _"Has He revealed it?"_
Why are you using a gendered pronoun? We haven't established this god exists yet, let alone what its attributes are. This indicates that you are smuggling in a subset of theistic beliefs into the conversation without justification. It means you have to revisit your foundation and make sure you are building on what you *know,* not you what presume or believe _a priori_ without justification.
As for whether a god has revealed its purpose, you need a reliable method to determine the truth of any answer you're given. All we have right now are a lot of people making claims about their favourite representation of a god or gods and what _they believe_ is or are the purpose or purposes of that god or gods. How do you get from, "This person claimed something," to "A God revealed something?"
_"If so are you obligated to follow? If so have you followed?"_
A certain German leader (yes, it's Godwin's Law. I'm doing it) had a purpose and obligated his people to follow it. _Should_ they have just because the leader obligated them to? History answers unequivocally, "No!" If a god tries to obligate a person to do something, it doesn't automatically _necessarily_ follow that you _should._ *WHY* _should_ you do what a god obligates?
_"You can test yourself? Do you consider yourself to be a good person? Have you ever lied, stolen , etc?"_
Hey look, it's Ray Comfort's argument. You haven't set up a framework that shows that stealing or lying _necessarily_ makes you a "bad person." In other worldviews, "good" is a balance of what you do and how you behave, not single instances of socially unacceptable, unethical, or criminal behaviour or actions. Please describe where the tipping point is without committing the heap of sand fallacy.
_"What does it mean if you fail the test?"_
You're conflating "testing yourself" with "the test." It doesn't follow that if you "test yourself" there must be "a test." I can test myself on French grammar and vocabulary before my next holiday and it doesn't follow that there is "a test" if I do. I'm just taking stock of my progress in relation to my aims.
_"What does it mean if you fail the test and there is a creator God w/ a purpose?"_
The implicit assumption here is that "the test" aligns with "the purpose." Why? What lead you to that conclusion?
_"You see all fail the test!"_
No. I don't see that, and you haven't shown that.
_"However the good news is by Grace alone,"_
      Bald assertion.
      _"through faith alone,"_
      Bald assertion.
      _"in Christ alone,"_
      Bald assertion and question-begging.
      _"as revealed in scripture alone,"_
      Bald assertion and question-begging.
_"for the glory of God alone!"_
      Bald assertion.
The 5 Tropes of Agrippa are useful as skeptics' tools:
Dissent The uncertainty demonstrated by the differences of opinions among philosophers and people in general.
Progress ad infinitum All proof rests on matters themselves in need of proof, and so on to infinity.
Relation All things are changed as their relations become changed, or, as we look upon them from different points of view.
Assumption The truth asserted is based on an unsupported assumption.
Circularity The truth asserted involves a circularity of proofs.
How many are you falling foul of?
      _"We can be saved!"_
How does it follow that failing a test is something that we need saving for? Why not retake the test?
_"We are save by faith NOT works!"_
      Bald assertion and question-begging.
_"God calls us to trust Christ, turn from our ways, and show good works as a result of our salvation!"_
I think we all know the objection to that by now.
      _"Remember the world hated Jesus"_
The world was largely ignorant of Jesus' existence. He was an unimportant nobody in a backwater of Judea in the first century in an area of largely illiterate peasants.
      _"and hates God!"_
Remind me again of the figure for how many people believe in a god. This assertion is pure nonsense. Further, you don't hate what you don't believe is real. Did you hate Voldemort? How about Darth Vader or Darth Maul? How about Sauron? They might have been a bit scary, but you didn't _hate_ them, because they *weren't real.*
_"The world wants you to not study the Bible nor pray and receive the gift of repentance and faith."_
The world is apathetic as to whether or not you choose to "study" the Bible. It doesn't make a blind bit of difference to anybody. What makes a difference is when you act like a Pharisee and make displays of your "righteousness" whilst inside you are full of corruption and every defiled thing. You see, just because I don't believe in God doesn't mean I don't think there can't be some smart points in the Bible. Or the Quran. Or the Bhagavad Gita. For the skeptic, these are all attempts to understand the world and primitive attempts at Philosophy. It follows that there could be points of interest to note within their respective pages, but we'd also expect a whole lot of mis-steps, and frankly, dross to go with it.
Which is exactly what we do find. But the skeptic doesn't have to make excuses for it being there.

Remember God calls us to trust Christ! I suggest you pray for the gift of repentance and for the gift of faith! Then trust in the only one who can save Jesus Christ! No works just faith!
Remember the world hated Jesus snd hates God! The world wants you to not study the Bible nor pray and receive the gift of repentance and faith.

Original Sin does not Teach that God finds us Guilty of Sin because of Adam and Eve. It says We are Born with a Nature Inclined to Sin. That's not the same Thing. Nor do Any Churches Disagree on this Point, so that 45 Thousand Denominations Routine is absurd. While there are disagreements on the Exact Nature of Original Sin and Some Churches even reject original Sin, None teach that God says We are Guilty due to Adam and Eve's Sins.
Also, the Punishment of Ones Children to the Third and Fourth Generation is not saying They are punished forte Sins of their parents or grandparents even though they did no Wrong, it explicitly says to those Who Hate God, and says this Will Stop if they repent and Turn Again to Him. it is referring to Families continuing in Violating Israel's Laws, and thus being Excluded from the society due to ongoing refusal to Obey the law, and is not saying because your grandfather sinned God finds You Guilty.

    • @PsychoRenegade07
      @PsychoRenegade07 Год назад +8

@SK Wills Nice try but no. Original Sin is a direct extension of ancestral sin. The idea is the sin of Adam and Eve is inflicted on all the descendants. The formalized version of this was developed by Irenaeus. Read the Wikipedia article on Ancestral Sin. The Bible does in fact give contradictory positions for ancestral sin. Exodus 34:7 says God will not leave the guilty unpunished and will punish children and the children's children for the sin of the parents. Nothing about simply the children not loving God. Then Deuteronomy 24:16 says the parents are not put to death for the children nor vice versa, each pays for their own sin. I know Christians painfully try to square the circle with these verses but the answer is obvious. A perfect God didn't inspire these laws and simply the writer of Deuteronomy had better morals than the writer of Exodus.

A couple of years ago I had a very interesting conversation with a friend who is a religious historian, concerning quite a few oddities within the Bible. One which I found particularly intriguing (and funny) was about the stark difference between the First Epistle of John and Book of Revelation; a difference which is part of the modern scolarly argument, by some scolars, that these particular scriptures are not likely written by the same person.
My friend does not think so:
"Oh, those scriptures could very well have been written by the same person with say 20-30 years in between. It would make complete psychological sense and be very human. The First Epistle oozes salvation for everyone - that`s like the benevolent Grandmother embracing all the grandkids on monday morning, before Mum and Dad takes off on vacation - whereas Revelations is almost an acid trip of pure anger and fantasy of vengeance - being the same Grandmother on thursday afternoon, at wit`s end, exausted, and having lost all illusions, standing on a chair in the living room, shouting: "You little s...s; you just wait till your Parents hear of this; you won`t be able to sit for f......g week!!!"

As a man called to preach 37 plus years ago, and specifically called unto Prophecy, this is not a hard explanation at all, the very first verse in Revelation states that God [Himself] gave Revelation to Jesus, who gave it to John his disciple, via visions and angels words. So, John took dictation, if you dictate another mans words he is the author of the book, its that simple. There are 1200 *ANDS* in the book of Revelation for a reason, John was being shown visions and told what to write by Angels, but in a sped up ordeal, that is nothing like a man thinking to himself what to write. In other words if I told you to write what you saw on a TV screen/Movie over a 3 hour period, it would look nothing like a book you would contemplate writing about the same subject, you would get your cues from the TV screen via what you saw and heard.
And by the way, the book of Revelation is easy to understand, for those who know the Old Testament, out of 404 verses 289 have old testament lingo/verbiage. For instance, the Woman in Rev. 12 with the Sun, Moon and 12 stars at her feet can be identified by looking at Gen. 37:9, where we see Joseph dreamed a dream that the Sun (Jacob), Moon (Rachel) and 11 (his brothers) stars would pay obedience unto him, this the Sun, Moon and 12 stars = Israel.
Jesus told his disciple why he spoke unto them in parables, so they hearing and seeing would understand, but the world hearing and seeing would not understand. So, trying to understand God is not possible until one humbles themselves and seeks God with all of their hearts. Hint within 10 years Jesus will be ruling, HINT the Anti-Christ has been in the world over 40 years. HINT Apophis will be God's Wrath. HINT the Rapture will happen in the fall of 2025. So people will get a huge surprise, but no one flies of to heaven, we will simply die, our Spirits go to heaven. So when you see One Billion people die (only 5 of the 10 Virgins are taken) then you can remember this, that will be the Rapture. Then get right with God, and you may die, be killed, etc. but you can still make heaven. It amazes me that people love this evil, barbaric world, its lunacy. One Billion babies slaughtered. The Days of Noah Jesus said will be what its like when he returns, so what happened then? Men were wicked, as they are today.

One thing I notice on every video, post, tiktok or whatever that points out biblical contradictions, the comments from Christians fall into one of 4 categories:
    1. This guy is misleading you and trying to divert you from what it really says. He's twisting the verses and cherry picking them to make the Bible look bad.
    2. WHAT ABOUT THE CONTEXT???!!! You're not reading the verse in context.
    3. That was never supposed to be literal. That was a metaphor.
    4. You will meet a swift and painful end when God comes to judge you for mocking his word and criticising his word. You are blinded by Satan. You deserve eternal torment. Who are you to question the word?
Funny how the talking snake is literal but God creating evil is a metaphor. It's almost like no one knows what is literal or metaphorical and people interpret it any way they feel. To paraphrase Aron Ra, "The bible is absolutely literal, except where its metaphorical and nobody seems to know where those boundaries are or they move whenever they're inconvenient or when it's necessary to defend the faith."

    Errors found in the Bible.
    51. Duration of the Egyptian Captivity: Exodus 12:40 states that the Israelites were in Egypt for 430 years, whereas Galatians 3:17 suggests a period of 430 years from Abraham to the Law, implying a shorter stay in Egypt.
    52. The number of Israelites leaving Egypt: Exodus 12:37 states that about 600,000 men left Egypt, which would suggest a much larger total population including women and children. This number is sometimes questioned based on logistical and historical grounds.
    53. Destruction of Jericho: Archaeological evidence has been debated regarding the timing and existence of Jericho's walls as described in Joshua 6.
    54. The age of Terah when Abraham was born: Genesis 11:26 mentions that Terah was 70 years old when he became the father of Abram (Abraham), but Genesis 11:32 and Genesis 12:4 suggest a discrepancy in Terah's age and the timing of Abraham's departure from Haran.
    55. Jesus' lineage through Joseph: The Gospels of Matthew and Luke provide different genealogies for Jesus, complicating the understanding of His descent from David through Joseph, especially since Joseph is not considered His biological father in Christian doctrine.
    56. David’s census: 2 Samuel 24:1 says God incited David to take a census of Israel, while 1 Chronicles 21:1 attributes this incitement to Satan.
    57. The number of the beast: While most manuscripts of Revelation 13:18 record the number of the beast as 666, some ancient sources record it as 616, leading to debates about the correct number.
    58. Saul’s interaction with the Witch of Endor: 1 Samuel 28:6 states that Saul could not receive answers from God, yet he seeks a medium in 1 Samuel 28:7-20, which is seen as a contradiction of divine communication rules.
    59. The inscription on the cross: The Gospels differ on the exact wording of the inscription placed above Jesus on the cross. Matthew 27:37, Mark 15:26, Luke 23:38, and John 19:19-20 each provide slightly different versions.
    60. The destruction of Tyre: Ezekiel 26 prophesies the complete destruction of Tyre, never to be rebuilt. However, Tyre has been rebuilt and exists to this day.
    61. The death of Jesus' apostles: The New Testament does not consistently describe the deaths of all the apostles, leading to variations in tradition and historical records about their fates.
    62. The length of Jesus' ministry: The Synoptic Gospels suggest a one-year ministry, while the Gospel of John indicates a ministry lasting at least three years, based on the number of Passovers mentioned.
    63. The number of women at the tomb: The Gospels differ in the number and identity of the women who visited Jesus' tomb after His resurrection, creating discrepancies in the resurrection narrative.
    64. Paul’s vision: In Acts 9:7, Paul’s companions heard the voice during his conversion experience, while Acts 22:9 states they did not hear the voice.
    65. Ownership of the land of Canaan: The Bible mentions several times that God gave the land of Canaan to the Israelites as an eternal inheritance, yet later historical and biblical texts describe the land being taken by other nations or occupied by foreign powers.
    66. Judas’ remorse and repayment: In Matthew 27:3-10, Judas returns the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests before hanging himself. Acts 1:18-19, however, does not mention this return of money but describes Judas buying a field with the payment and dying there.
    67. Duration of reigns of kings: There are discrepancies between Kings and Chronicles regarding the ages and reigns of several kings of Judah and Israel, such as the lengths of reigns and the ages at which they began to reign.
    68. Paul and the Law: In Acts 21:24-26, Paul participates in Jewish purification rituals, which some see as inconsistent with his teachings in his epistles about freedom from the Law for Gentile converts.
    69. Discrepancies in genealogical lists: Various genealogical records, such as those in Genesis, Chronicles, Ezra, and the Gospels, sometimes show different names and lineages, leading to questions about their accuracy and consistency.
    70. Timing of the birth of Jesus: The Gospels of Matthew and Luke differ in their accounts of the timeline surrounding Jesus' birth. Matthew mentions the reign of King Herod, while Luke places it during the census of Quirinius, creating a potential chronological discrepancy.
    71. Number of years between the Exodus and the building of Solomon's Temple: 1 Kings 6:1 states that 480 years passed between the Exodus and the construction of the Temple, but other biblical chronologies suggest a different timeline.
    72. The death of Ahaziah: In 2 Kings 9:27-28, Ahaziah is reported to have died at Megiddo, while 2 Chronicles 22:9 says he was found in Samaria and brought to Jerusalem, where he died.
    73. Location of Jesus' early ministry: The Gospels sometimes differ on the specific locations of Jesus' activities, such as whether he was in Capernaum, Nazareth, or another location.
    74. The number of animals in Noah's Ark: Genesis 6:19-20 and Genesis 7:2-3 differ on whether Noah was instructed to bring two of each kind of animal or seven pairs of clean animals and one pair of unclean animals.
    75. The genealogy of Moses: Exodus 6:20 lists Amram as Moses' father, but 1 Chronicles 6:1-3 gives a slightly different lineage.
    76. The number of Israelites slain by the Levites: Exodus 32:28 states that the Levites killed about 3,000 men after the golden calf incident, while 1 Corinthians 10:8 mentions 23,000 fell in one day.
    77. The number of years in the wilderness: Deuteronomy 2:14 mentions 38 years of wandering after the Kadesh-Barnea incident, while Numbers 14:33-34 and Acts 13:18 suggest 40 years.
    78. The location of Mount Sinai: The traditional identification of Mount Sinai's location varies, and there is debate over the exact historical and geographical site.
    79. The date of Nebuchadnezzar's siege of Jerusalem: The dates of the siege in 2 Kings and Jeremiah differ, causing confusion over the timeline of events.
    80. Paul's journey to Jerusalem: Acts 15:2-4 describes Paul's journey to Jerusalem for the Council, while Galatians 2:1-2 provides a different account and reason for the trip.
    81. The law regarding sacrifices and offerings: There are variations in the regulations about sacrifices and offerings between the books of Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
    82. David's mighty men: The list of David's mighty men in 2 Samuel 23:8-39 and 1 Chronicles 11:10-47 shows differences in names and numbers.
    83. The plagues of Egypt: The sequence and descriptions of the plagues in Exodus sometimes differ in detail and emphasis, leading to variations in interpretation.
    84. The fall of Samaria: The timelines and accounts of the fall of Samaria in 2 Kings 17 and 18 and other historical sources show discrepancies in dates and events.
    85. The role of angels: Different passages depict varying roles and actions of angels, leading to questions about their nature and function.
    86. The presence of evil spirits: Some passages attribute actions to evil spirits or Satan, while others suggest direct divine involvement, creating interpretative challenges.
    87. The structure of the Tabernacle: The descriptions of the Tabernacle's design and construction in Exodus vary in detail and measurements.
    88. *lThe genealogies in Genesis: The genealogical lists in Genesis 4, 5, and 10 sometimes show different lineages and names.
    89. The laws of purity and impurity: The laws regarding ritual purity and impurity in Leviticus and Deuteronomy sometimes present different regulations.
    90. The nature of prophetic messages: Prophecies in the Old Testament sometimes appear conditional, while others are presented as absolute, creating interpretative challenges.
    91. The use of the term 'son of God': The term 'son of God' is used in various ways in the Old and New Testaments, leading to different theological understandings.
    92. The nature of the Messiah: Different Old Testament passages present varying pictures of the Messiah, leading to diverse interpretations in Jewish and Christian traditions.
    93. The role of women in the early Church: The New Testament presents differing views on the roles of women in the Church, as seen in Paul's letters.
    94. The laws of war and conquest: The Old Testament presents different instructions and regulations for warfare and conquest, particularly in Deuteronomy and Joshua.
    95. The structure and content of the Psalms: The numbering and content of the Psalms vary between the Hebrew, Greek (Septuagint), and Latin (Vulgate) versions.
    96. The nature of the Holy Spirit: The descriptions and roles of the Holy Spirit vary between the Old and New Testaments, leading to different theological understandings.
    97. The timing of the Last Supper: The Synoptic Gospels and the Gospel of John present different timelines for the Last Supper and the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion.
    98. The genealogy of the patriarchs: The genealogies of the patriarchs in Genesis 5 and 11 differ in the ages and lifespans of the individuals.
    99. The nature of God's covenant with Israel: The nature and terms of God's covenant with Israel are presented differently in various parts of the Old Testament.
    100. The role of the Law in the New Testament: The role and interpretation of the Mosaic Law in the New Testament vary between different authors and books, leading to theological debates.
These are examples of perceived discrepancies or contradictions in the Bible that have been the subject of discussion and debate among scholars, theologians, and critics. Interpretations and understandings of these texts can vary widely depending on one's religious or academic perspective.

I often feel that "true" believers (in any extraordinary claim/belief) suffer from a combination of cognitive dissonance and what could be thought of as Stockholm syndrome. It's always hard, for anyone, to hold conflicting ideas simultaneously. A mature, reasonable way to deal with this is either using critical thought to determine the most likely explanation/idea, or to accept that there is not sufficient evidence/reason upon which to reach a conclusion. However a "true" believer will not/can not allow either of these conditions unless they seem, somehow, to agree with the conclusion they have reached.
Pointing out contradictions. errors of fact, magical thinking to such a person is seen as an attack. Though their mind is actually held captive, controlled, and often exploited by this belief system, they will stand up/speak up in it's defense. Many will attempt with, expertly crafted apologetic fervor, to squelch any spark that might ignite a small fire of doubt/logical thought about the actual content of the Bible that they believe to be perfect.

In my honest opinion. The bible is a copy and paste job of multiple different papyrus, manuscripts and scrolls from multiple different cultures and tablets, all refering to different god's and ET's, and someone decided to merge it all together in a book. Archeology is proving there was multiple god's , foreign artifacts confirming events in the bible but not the way the bible has written it (think of William Pierre and the 10feet stele he found back in the 1890s), and the bible was faffed about by Constintine and his pals to bring fear mongering into the people

When I was growing up, my dad was very christian. I tried my best to be a part of it, mostly because of threats of hell, but it still all seemed so stupid. I even faked speaking in tongues with everyone else so I didn't stand out. At some point I asked my dad why I didn't feel the spirit like everyone else, he told me I just needed to read my bible more. And that's the thing: the more I read the bible, the less I'm inclined to believe any of it. How do people not notice this stuff? If you point it out to them, they downplay it as a mistranslation or a misinterpretation, or God's divine logic is beyond human ken. Seems like if you're going to devote your life and surrender your agency for something like that, you'd want your founding document to be consistent and epistemologically bulletproof. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when "Pharoah" suddenly had hundreds of horses for chariots days after God killed all the animals in Egypt. I don't know how anyone could read that and not at the very least stop for a second and wonder where they got new horses. Religious people have poor reading comprehension.
Also when you're a kid, and you see all the adults in church start acting like they're having a seizure/orgasm and shouting gibberish, it does things to your head. It is a traumatic experience. I'm sick of being called a bigot for being vocally anti-christian. These people are insane and dangerous, and exposing kids to that kind of trauma is child abuse, full stop. The government only gets involved when they get so high on their own bullshit that they stop giving their kids necessary medication because "god healed them" and they die.

Now, have YOU actually read the bible yourself? Do you always take the word of others to guide you through life. The person who heard it and acted or the person who spoke it and walked away?

@@motomedic72 The day that Mr. Evans is non-researched is the day I'll eat Mt. Rushmore a la mode. I have read the bible. I read directly from it EVERY time I'm looking to be convinced of the statements made referring to it. I read it weekly for over 3 decades. The old trope of "oh, well you just haven't read it, that's why you don't get it" isn't going to cut the mustard here. I've read it. Mr. Evans has read the living hell out of it. In addition, he actually used it throughout this entire video and most any video he makes that discusses bible falsities and contradictions. It doesn't take a scholar to only read the first two chapters of Genesis and understand that the two creation accounts do not match. It takes even less of a genius to read the account of the flood and not just laugh yourself into a cramp.
So, you've come here, to troll an ex-JW site, which if you are still active, is against everything you stand for and you should be disfellowshipped. If you're just some rando-christian cruising atheist sites looking for a debate, well, you should take up sewing or something. I don't know where your rebuttal is, so not much value in referring to it, but I've read your comments before. We've clashed before. I wasn't changed or impressed then, I doubt you can say anything to change that now.
I find it interesting that you somehow thought your invitation, laced with insults on how ignorant I must be in order to believe anything other than the bible, would actually entice me. Nobody lies or shares 80% information? Of course they. It's called "christianity". It is built, based, and supported by lying, mistruths, twisted truths, and pure myth. The bible has been PROVEN unauthentic, morphed, translated 5000 ways and no two matching. Bible characters that do not exist in any secular history and even books claimed to have been written by certain authors have been shown beyond a reasonable doubt to be forged, copied from each other, based on folk lore from older religions or myths, and its prophecies disproven. The acrobatics that apologists jump and twist through in order to even remotely make dates, lineage, and even the very existence of a god son three-headed trinity born of a virgin but fathered by his self is astounding. Everything, EVERYTHING, you think you know of the bible as it reads today is just another twisted version commissioned by a political power with an agenda of controlling the masses with fear tactics. If kings or priests didn't like the text or it didn't serve their agenda, it was cut and dropped under the table.

I was listening to praise and worship music and your channel came up, so I figured why not listen to a few of your examples of the Bible contradicting itself. First let me say I appreciate your kindness in the video. I also understand you are a former JW, which I have learned in speaking to current atheists that many times they have a background of what I would deem as "false religions" (That is for another day and time to break down). Before I came to Christ, I would read the Bible in a way that many of us read the newspaper or even a regular book published in the west. The bible has 66 book - 39 in the OT and 27 in the NT - and I read it on this topical and practical level. I was challenged to read it in the way it was written, an eastern book written in Hebrew (OT) and Greek (NT), filled with eastern idioms and expressions. I also had to grasp the context of what was being said (who is the author of each of the 66 books, the audience, and the time). I also realized that the Bible being Holy Spirit inspired was dictated by man. This is what brings about some conflict with folks when it comes to these apparent contradictions. For instance, in Exodus 33:12-23 Moses pleads with God to spare Israel. It seems that Moses "changed God's mind". However, God is all knowing and in Numbers 23:19 we read that God does not change His mind. Kind of a pickle, right? Not really. We as fallible beings can easily attribute fallible traits to the Infallible. This is referred to as anthropomorphic. On a smaller scale an example I use is when I communicate to my 11-year-old daughter the game of football. She has a limited capacity of understanding the game because of her age and mind (even interest it seems). If she then was to communicate what I said to her to one of her friends (letting her friends know that this is what I said), my daughter is my "mouthpiece" to her friends on my behalf, so what she says in essence to her friends is what I said. Make sense? However, when you look and challenge yourself with scripture - putting forth the same effort to understand it as you do to challenge its validity - you will find that there are actually no contradictions in the Bible. I will take your first 4 examples that I got through. 1. Moses and God speaking "face to face" is an idiom being used in reference to "intimately". God also can appear in the form of Christophanies-pre-incarnate appearances of the Son of God. The Old Testament uses the term angel of the Lord interchangeably with the Lord in reference to these visitations. One Christophany is found in Genesis 18:1-33 when the Lord appeared to Abram in human form. Such tangible encounters with deity are scattered throughout the Old Testament (Genesis 16:7-14; 22:11-18; Judges 5:23; 2 Kings 19:35; Daniel 3:25). 2. This one is not a contradiction but a concession of truth and the obvious. True faith in Christ has evidence or "fruit". Think about love. I can say I love my wife all day. Should my love for her have an identity and an action, or "work" to it? When you read James in proper context you will read that he is confronting those who simply say they believe in God does not mean anything. Many people who struggle with Christians today will say the same thing, right? We can talk a big game but lack any kind of action or proof of that faith and belief. We are saved by faith alone, but the faith that saves is never alone:) 3. Proverbs is beautiful and actually the book of James is seen as a NT version of Proverbs. This is once again speaking the obvious for us as God's children. Yes, we will face calamity is this life, but we will always have God with us, and we have an eternal hope that makes what we endure in this temporary world in the grand scheme seem like nothing. The wicked however, face calamity alone - and even success alone, and have no eternal hope. In comparison, I think you can see the identity of this Proverb. 4. Another "obvious" here and a showing of why we need to read the Bible with proper context. You started out at verse 5 in Exodus 20, when God is giving the 10 commandments. He is laying out what happens to those who disobey His commands and how that sin leads to future generations. God's punishment comes in a way of consequences too. But if you read on to verse 6 (people tend not to keep reading to prove their point, remember CONTEXT) you will read "but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments." This is what is being spoken about in your proof text about God not punishing generations because of their "righteousness" or in other words, obedience. This is really practical thinking. If I sin and do not know God or follow His commands, my family can follow suit of my ways which leads to a place that is not good, this is an identity of God's judgement. Sorry for the long response. Toodles!

When I quit the JWs I was fascinated with the Socinian belief, that Jesus didn't pre exist his birth in heaven. You really have to go through some hoops to get there (no Jew would've thought that he did) but it makes some sense. The main argument against it is only God could sacrifice himself to make the ransom valid. Chuck Russell decided it only took a man but he couldn't get his body back. I've concluded that Christianity has never been in agreement with itself on very much at all. The JW idea that they've restored first century brief and practice is so silly. They basically say everyone got the gospels and Paul's letters by 60ce and understood them the same way for about 45 years until John died then somehow everyone got confused until the 4th century when they finally decided on the Bible books because they were the ones that agreed with orthodoxy, and yet they didn't espouse JW beliefs.

Several of your bible contradictions also were problematic to me once I began my journey of questioning the Bible. Contradiction #16 - Lying - what stood out to me was how in Revelations we are told that “All liars shall have their part in the lake of fire….” But we know that Abraham lied about Sarah not being his wife, and his son Isaac did the same. Also Rahab the Harlot lied to the soldiers of Jericho when they asked her if she had seen the spies from Israel. Yet all these people are glorified highly as Old Testament saints! Are they going to burn in the lake of fire? Apparently lying is a deadly sin unless you’re doing it to please God or promote his cause, or as in the case of Abraham and Isaac, you are his favorites, so God just excuses you on this one!

We see NO example of any of the characters I listed as having repented of their heinous crime of lying. Instead, they are rewarded with either having their life spared (Rahab) when all others were brutally slaughtered, or in Abraham and later Isaac’s cases, the ones they lied to were the ones God punished!!! Moreover the same book says that there is no remission of sin without bloodshed and this is also false because the Jewish text says redemption could be done with some foods. Jesus did not come to die for anyone. This is a theological invention of Paul. Judaism never taught we are tainted by the original sin or that the Messiah would come to fix that as a sinless God-human. The understanding of sin and redemption in Judaism is different from Christianity. Sin in the Jewish context is the transgression of the covenant that Moses made with Yahweh the tribal deity of Hebrews. There is no God in the modern Neo-platonic sense of the New Testament in the Hebrew text, in fact, the Old Testament is not a book about God nor it is religious, it was made sacred by Christians in the 3rd century when they started to associate the Father of Jesus with Yahweh the Hebrew deity. There is no belief in eternal life in the Jewish text neither and that is why many Jews started to believe in reincarnation. Jesus did not sacrifice anything. Get rid of that fantasy belief. How can you believe that the Creator of the Universe is someone that needs not just bloodshed to forgive us but also needs to torture to a cruel death his son?? What many historians have tried to make people understand was that writers in the time period when the books of the Bible were written did not distinguish between fiction and non fiction. There were not separate categories for history and myth and folk tale and religious teaching. There were just stories, and stories were intended to entertain and express ideas that they wanted the listener to remember. Virtually no one could read and those who could read needed to keep their audiences engaged in the story. Stop thinking of the Bible as true or not true. Think about whether the ideas are meaningful in your life or not.

And it's not my fault that WT teaches women are just helpers and had taught that their "smaller" brains make them 10% less smart than men, therefore unable to be leaders.
