Thanks brother! I'm starting to really like these higher end laser units. Now that I know its a 1080(16:10 technically), I am going to take it home and try it out. I have a mount rated to 75 pounds so itll hold.
@@FixitFrank, thanks, sounds interestingly! I did watch nearly all of your very educative videos. The used Casio XJ-A and XJ-M series are priced very low nowadays and their Blue-Lasers (445nm, ca. 1.5W) should fit in many older modules. Only weak point: Noisy Phosphorus-wheel, when cold. After using a conventional bulb (more exactly: 10+ of them 🤡 between clouds of mercury), i'm really still shocked to see which levels of brighness on a grayscreen, crisp colors and contrast these machines are able to deliver, while requiring ridiculous low amounts of power by the filterless design.
blows me away (no pun intended) with how immense the cooling is. People used to say solid state light sources were cooler than lamps. At the actual source, probably but I suspect both lamps and lasers will warm up a room.
Frank, I really appreciate your knowledge and how you present your videos. Can I hire you for a few “zoom video” style 1 on 1 sessions? Every few years I try and learn a new and interesting skill that is outside of my comfort zone.
A beast of a machine, built like a tank. I see in the comments you have more laser projector models up for repair, look forward to them. Are you going to repair that Panasonic rw330 you had with the faulty laser module. Cheers Frank, watching from Thailand for a few months....it's cold in the UK...😀. Take care buddy 👍
Thailand is great! My sister in law is from Chiang Mai. You are correct! I have another one of those RW330's and will replace the source in that one hopefully. (thats the plan at least). It might not be until after the holidays but we'll see how it goes. Enjoy the weather !
Frank I desperately need help! I have a Christie DWX555-GS and you are the only person I’ve found that has worked on a close enough model. My up/down/left/right on the lens shift is just falling down due to gravity and will no longer shift in the menu. The motors are fine they spin. I found a thumb sized spring under the assembly. Can’t seem to find where it came from. Could we speak would you be able to help. Christie Technical Customer service could not.
that is one big beast laser projector not as big as a BenQ SU964 and i love the color wheel startup noise but at projector central website it said its discontinued i don't know why that website did this the website is a mistake theres other projectors still available like sharp projectors like the notevision model PG-D40W3D in stock on amazon and a NEC NP-M300XS short throw projector
@@FixitFrank and I found a sharp PG-D40W3D projector and that is a good projector to customize into a 4K 1080P projector because it has HDMI input and that is a good projector
Sure sounds nice. Honeslty I'm still getting more familiar with the laser units. My bread and butter has always been lamp based but now that laser/LEDs are starting to fail, I am seeing them more. Being that its a Sharp/NEC, I bet its quite good. At the least it is well built. One thing about NEC is that they never had poor engineering. Always well built and robust.
1280 x 800. www.projectorcentral.com/Christie-DWX555-GS.htm I fat fingered the title text. I was fixing a DWU at the same time. In the description I have the proper model.
Computers and servers should really take a lesson from the cooling in that thing! Love your work Frank. Unique and excellent repairs!

Helluva Light-Assembly, must be a 300+W-Laserbank. Thanks for sharing!
You're very welcome! I should have some more laser stuff coming in. I found a source for new laser modules and I have a panasonic that needs one.

Wow the cooling system on this thing is intense

They just mean its not in new production anymore. There are still some new units out there but Christie isn't making any new DWU55-GS'.
@@FixitFrank oh ok and does NEC and Sharp projectors make new units out there

This isn’t 720, it’s 1920x1200. So not bad.
