It can be both a blessing or a curse. Just depends on the way you use it. My phone and the internet help me a lot with studies and real life problems in a way which wasn't possible before. Overusing it and procrastinating then calling it a problem is a choice too. It's all upto you.
I remember getting my first smartphone at about 16, looking back to my childhood and early teens I remember I used to tell my mum “I’m bored there’s nothing to do”, but I’d always end up finding something interesting to do. I would go and knock on my friends doors who lived on my street and we would play in our front gardens on a summer day all day, until our mum’s would call us back home for dinner in the evening. I remember just sitting down and truly feeling bored other days, and deciding to pick up a new hobby or carry on with my existing ones. I used to paint, read, make such interesting crafts with actual purposes, I learnt to knit, I learnt how to solve a Rubik’s cube. I convinced my mum to buy me a ukulele so I could learn but I ended up decorating it with teeny tiny gem stones that took me multiple hours to stick on! I remember my brain really used to work, creative juices flowing if you will. Recently I’ve come to realise that it’s been years since I’ve been as bored as I used to be. Of course I’m a young adult now, working towards a future, but on days where I don’t have much to do, I find myself never bored, not because I pick up these hobbies again, but because I pick up my phone and scroll mindlessly. I’m trying my best now to just allow myself to be bored, and accept that I don’t have to pick up my phone every moment I can. It’s actually much harder than I thought it would be. I’m trying to revert my mind back to the way it was, the thoughts I had, the creative things I would come up with, just allowing myself to be me again. I miss those hobbies as well, I miss them dearly and I miss my brain not feeling like it’s going so fast all the time.
i found myself in your video., most of the time I feel alienated in the middle of the crowd just because not scrolling nor reading anything. Thanks for sharing this.
This is beautifully put for a major problem today. I'm very glad I grew up without a phone or internet, or any of that stuff. We were able to enjoy and appreciate life.
@@MetalDeathMusic I used to teach tennis to ages 6-12. It was interesting to see how the impact of not having a phone or other technology impacted their fundamental years. I often ponder how I would raise children. I am not sure that no phones solved everything. But I can definitely note how differently students acted with and without them. :/
@@AsimpleTale I just think technology is a tool, and we are overusing it. Nothing at all wrong with it, it's incredibly useful. But lack of good parenting, and as a society our wanting devotion and kind of lust for technology is very bad. I would raise children to appreciate technology but you have to try (because that's all you can do) to let them know they need to live life and experience nature and other people and whatever else without that digital facade all the time.
People also used to suffer more from depression due to loneliness, especially farmers being in campaigns or outside towns in general. Not all that felt "better" was actually better.. they didn't have choice, unlike us.

Ill still occasionally just sit in silence. Im 18 so I was the last generation to not be born into a world of smartphones. I have one I spend some time on daily but ill just sit in silence to remind myself I could be free and of a time when I was free. But unfortunately, im not a kid anymore. Im working full time with OT weekly. I dont have the time and I cannot afford to be free anymore.
and even though paper has been taken by the phones, it´s still an important part of our lives, for art there´s not a signle bit knowledge of something existing thus making it into a play, if there´s no single being that has read about it. Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Coraline, etc. In a sea of unread stories, a person has had the audacity to still grab the paper and get interested in reading. thus the meaningless words on the paper turn into visual stories for the many who didnt dare to even grab one of them.
My dude, some of us still just sit in silence. Y'alls generations are so beyond help. And usually it's not complete silence, we enjoy hearing the birds chirping outside, the wind rustling the leaves, the refrigerator running, etc. Start paying attention to the little things.
"Y'alls generations are so beyond help." Ok, so that's what an asshole would say. I'm not saying it's your duty to help the kids, but you do have that opportunity. Growing up is not easy, and we do that for our whole life. We're often helped by friends and strangers on our journey, so why look at someone you think is lost and come to the conclusion: "What a loser?" Do better. Also, "silence" is great, but people are often scared of it; not everyone is at peace with their thoughts. I'm not saying that it's a valid excuse to avoid staying alone with your head, but it's important context.
brooh, the retro rapid zoom out I liked it. I am a film director in southern part of India we've been doing a lot of experimental ventures. Would you like to collaborate
@ the verb is not “use”, it’s “sit”. “People did sit” is the grammatical noun and verbs. So, “Did people sit?” Is the question, not “Did people use?” “Used to” in this sentence is an adverb (albeit not grammatically correct since it ends with a preposition) to describe “sit”. Did people use* to just sit in silence? Idk
No, it’s “used to”. It doesn’t look right written but that’s how it is done.
@rioforce No, it's not. It's meant to be "use", because it's a question.
