Hey !!! The winner for this video's contest is "Mr Pakistan Hacker" - Congratulations. The Correct answer is 10 diodes for Full Wave 5-phase rectification Although i used 5 full bridge rectifiers ( meaning 20 diodes in total ) because i didn't have so many individual diodes but still, the minimum number for full wave rectification is only 10 and 5 for half-wave. I will also share the diagram for 5 phase full wave rectification in my upcoming video for everyone to understand. Best Regards, Mr Electron
To make a 5-phase full-bridge rectifier, you will need about 10 diodes, seeing as triple phase rectifiers use at least 6 diodes to turn negative voltages into positive ones. This means that 5*2 diodes totals 10 diodes
I do not want to edit my first comment but as someone has pointed out that it could have been said in a clearer way. In the model he used 2 wires per phase for each wire you need 2 diodes to make a full bridge rectifier. If you only use 1 diode per wire you will have a half phase rectifier. In my first comment I said "2 diodes only makes a half phase rectifier" I should have added when using two wires per phase. So if you use two wires per phase you would need 20 diodes. Not to go into all the details of how but 5 of the 10 wires could be tied together in a common connection. Then you would be left with only five wires that need to be converted into DC which would only take 10 diodes. My original comment was based on how many diodes it would take to do it the way he presented the model 2 wires per phase not using the common connection of 5 of the wires. I think he presented it this way with 10 wires because most people could do it this way.
To make a 5 phase bridge rectifier, at least 10 diodes are needed (consists of 5 half bridges). In your video, you are using 20 diodes (10 half bridges).
20 diodes is correct it takes 4 diodes to make a full bridge rectifier and it takes 5 full bridge rectifiers for 5 phases so 4 x5 = 20. 2 diodes only makes a half phase rectifier.
@@valiungur517 I assumed he was asking how many diodes does it take to get full power from a 5 phase alternator. Kind of like when someone ask how many spark plugs does a V8 engine need. It may be able to run on only 2 but it want make full power on 2, it needs all 8 to make full power.
@@valiungur517 you are correct if you reengineer the model from how he presented it. My answer was based on the model as he presented it using 10 wires. Yes you could tie 5 of the 10 wires together and end up with only 5 wires similar to a 3 phase alternator and then you could use only 10 diodes just like a 3 phase full bridge rectifier only uses 6 diodes. But that is not how he presented it I was not trying to reengineer what he presented. If you did not tie 3 of the wires of the 6 wires in a 3 phase alternator together in the correct order and just had all 6 coming out then you would need 12 diodes. I will agree that it is kind of how you took the question as related to the video. How many does it take to do it as it was presented in the video, or how few it could be done with if you changed the configuration of the wiring.
Since you only said 5 phase rectifier and not 5 phase half/full bridge rectifier it could be either 10 diodes or 20 diodes since there is no other way. You used 5 full bridge rectifiers in this video which was 20 diodes.
Hi! There is lockdown here in India because of Corona Virus so its not possible to get new components from the market until the lockdown ends. Would you like me the driver circuit with Transistor CTC 1351 or Transistor 13009 or with Mosfet IRF 540. Or you can choose some other project or delay this request until lockdown ends.

To make a 5 phase bridge rectifier, at least 10 diodes are needed (consists of 5 half bridges). In your video, you are using 20 diodes (10 half bridges).
THE answer...10 diodes (or 5 Graetz bridge or full bridge rectifier -20 diodes- as you done in video)
For Half bridge 10 diodes
For full bridge 20 diodes
5 bridge rectifier
20 diodes is correct it takes 4 diodes to make a full bridge rectifier and it takes 5 full bridge rectifiers for 5 phases so 4 x5 = 20. 2 diodes only makes a half phase rectifier.
Wrong....or incomplete answer. ..
If you use star connection it is enough 10 diodes
If you use 2wire for each faze then the answer is correct 20 diode.
@@valiungur517 if you only want half the power yes you can use 10 diodes, if you want the full DC power of the Alternator you have to use 20.

4 diodes for one phase so 20 diodes and rectification circuit
Hello, Mr. Electron does this setup self run? if yes, can it be used to can inverter batteries?
If yes again can you sell it for me?
Thanks
No setup in the world can self run. People showing that on RUclips are tricking everyone.

In one full bridge rectifier is 4 diodes
Thanks
You're most welcome Parakh 😊
One bridge have 4 diodes.. so 20:diode are need
5*4 =20
You need 10 diode in a 5 phase stepper motor
Well if you're using diode rectifiers it's only five but if you're using single diodes making your own rectifiers it would take 20
I need 10kw generation details in less weight and less cost
10 diodes one for each input polarity
Since you only said 5 phase rectifier and not 5 phase half/full bridge rectifier it could be either 10 diodes or 20 diodes since there is no other way. You used 5 full bridge rectifiers in this video which was 20 diodes.
