  • In this video I show how easy it is to replace the drag washer in cheap fly reels from China.
This improves the reels greatly and makes them work so much better.
I make my own washers but you can buy suitable items online.

Thanks for making this video. I was trying to figure out how to open a similar reel, and when you said the flathead is reverse threaded, that’s when it clicked. I will definitely be trying this in the future. Just need to get some G10!
I have to say, my favorite feature of these reels is the clutch bearing mounted in the spool. Nearly instant engagement with the drag system and extremely low resistance when reeling in.
Thanks so much. Hope you have a great day!

Hi, is the bearing holder that sits in the spool made of plastic? I brought another brand chinnese fly reel that has a plastic bearing holder. I dont think it will last very long

Good day...I have a similar reel that when I strip line out the reel free wheels and the line bundles up in the reel...but it doesn't do it all the time and does it regardless of how tight the drag is....Any idea what it could be?...I did need to replace the inner soft washer...but i cant figure out what the hell is with it

Hi. Sounds like a centrepin reel to me. I've heard of these seizing up completely but never freewheeling.

Many reels are going to have the same basic design regardless of manufacturer. Only way to tell is to start trying to disassemble
