This may be 3 years old but this whole series has been the best, most comprehensive Black Metal guitar lesson series I've seen. This is just so awesome. Thank you for this.
You are both a great teacher and a great player! Your trem work is second to none, always been one of my strong suits as well due to years playing in metalcore / deathcore bands in the old days. Came here to find some chord inspiration for a new one-man project, stayed for the excellent content!!!
You are a brilliant teacher of Black Metal guitar playing. I have been searching on ways to put together something of my own and you have saved me a ton of time. Great work.
As beginner/intermediate Guitarist & song writer, it's videos like this that have vastly added to my guitar "toolbelt" so to speak. Thanks a lot for the practical and digestible lessons.
Great lesson. I would love an expansion on this one, dealing with the more dissonant chords used by bands such as Deathspell Omega or a lot of Icelandic bands.
getting back into guitar recently and just bought a half stack. been coming up with riff ideas for a dsbm project and this series has been very helpful. thank you.
Dude. You're awesome. Thanks for all this. I'm not that great at all, but it is giving me so much to play around with and just to have in the ol' knowledge bank.
D... , Needs More 👍 Up people come on now this man takes his time to make videos lessons for all of us to learn to play Metal Music . 👍🤘🎸🎶🎵🎵🎵🎵TroyFrost Troyster 😎Cool Riffs 😎cool 👾
Amazing, love this but where do I start , I guess just with the chord shapes. I am amazed at how you throw in lead with the chord shapes. That is awesome. Thank you Dev. I am working on this.
Awesome lesson, man - very helpful. I know and use a lot of these techniques already but it’s nice to have it in a lesson that explains the concepts in a concise and easy to understand fashion.
Exactly! I'm in the same position, and his lessons are some of the best as far as "meditative internalizing" concerned. I'm not even that big on black metal, but the concepts involved are great for breaking your fingers out of whatever box they're in.
Thanks for making these videos. It is so nice to hear the guitar with these riffs without accompaniment. Would you share your settings with us on your rig, please?
@@DevGohil thank you for your time. I really like the way that you describe and demonstrate things. I will do my best to practice with better intent so that I will no longer be a "shit player." Haha!
I really appreciate you explaining the parts im sure are an after thought to yoy but I really need them lol. Does black metal ever make these chords in drop tunings? I moved the top string up 2 frets on a couple. They don't sound the same. But maybe it's because drip c just makes them less pretty
As a guitarist that has forgotten almost all the theory I learned back in the day, I just wanted to say thank you for the video- it really helps! I, like tons of other players, found myself in a bit of a rut with everything sounding the same that I’d come up with so I decided it was the perfect time to review some theory. Do you have any suggestions for exercises or scales to work on to better improve lead playing? As a bassist that picked up the guitar afterwards, I’ve always found this huge roadblock playing leads!
@@DevGohil Okay that's super heavy. I'm getting back into BM after a long break and I think your tutorials are great. Very tasteful. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Hi Dev, who is the song by that you play from 12:20 with the d minor bar chords? Sounding like "Malfiter"? I couldn't work out the name of the song but I'd like to look it up and learn it, thanks :-)
After realizing how easy that is to play now, it's extra hilarious how badly I saw them butcher it (a month or so before lawless darkness came out) , great lessons btw
Cool man. Ive found that mainly standard or drop d sound best. Unfortunately i dont have a guitar or amp at the moment. I had to sell my gear and im hating the fact i had to right now. Thanks for replying so much man. It means alot
"very Nile like, but not as low because we're not playing in drop A for fucks sake" I don't know why that makes me laugh so much, but it does. Although, wouldn't any inverted power chord be a bit of a mare to play in a dropped tuning?

2:42 "not playing in drop a for fucks sake" killed me.
This is the most valuable lesson i’ve come across.
Literally any other tutor would spend an hour explaining just one chord
i feel like i've found the rosetta stone for black metal guitar here. thanks!

I’d say I like ghost bath, but that’s not fucken depresso enough. But yeah, ghost bath 🤘

Lots to be learned here on Dev's channel. Love the work you do as well, Farvann. Perhaps you two should collaborate sometime!

I know this is over a year old at this point but so far these 3 lessons are game changing. Legendary series here.

Chris Hawkins learn scales in 5 positions then get creative.
Thank you for the support!
Dev Gohil thanks, man! Are you referring to the CAGED system? Then major, minor, melodic minor, harmonic minor, modes in each?
Chris Hawkins yeah man but start with minor/major and master that then move onto different scales
Dev Gohil thanks for the advice, man! Good luck with your channel - you’ve got a good thing going!
