Japanese voice actors are INSANE. Each of these characters could literally be voiced by an entirely different person, and I wouldn't be able to tell. I guess it's a good thing and shows amazing range, but.. I kinds like recognising VAs sometimes lol, it's comforting. It's a lot easier with dub actors.
Voice acting is a HUGE carrier in Japan, therefore, people take at least more than 14 roles HAHA XD

+zoozbuh The language barrier is probably the biggest reason it's difficult for us. I'm sure in Japan, these voice actors/actresses are close to being as recognizable as say Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo) or something.
Some VAs sound exactly the same in every role, but it's always amazing seeing one that has such a wide vocal range

Some girls are lucky to be able to make boy voice.
I can't make it without faking rasp AT ALL, unlike some who can just go deeper and sound like a boy.
JUST TO CLARIFY THINGS.. ARMIN IS INDEED A MALE. HE WAS ACTUALLY VOICED BY A FEMALE BUT HE IS A MALE. THE VOICE ACTRESS WAS VERY TALENTED AND I THINK SHE DID ARMIN'S ROLE PERFECTLY MAKING HIM SOUND LIKE A MALE.
There was an interview with Hajime Isayama where he was asked what his favourite female character from the manga/anime Attack on Titan was.
He said Armin.
That begs the question, is Armin a boy or a girl?
In terms of being canon, Armin is a girl. Unless Hajime Isayama made a mistake.

xNeerach Well, male characters have been voiced by females before. And fun was poked at that character for it. Example (only one I can think of) : Theodore. (chipmunks).
He would have joked about Armin being a girl because of the female voice actress.
In English he is definitely a guy and a Hange, a girl (because apparently she's gender confused too).
Naruto was also voiced by a female

I like her voice. She can sound like a cheerful girl, a tough girl, or a young boy :)

Yoko Littner is one of her best roles. Tbh that kinda shocked me as well. She can play males pretty good as well.

Yes bro, It sounds really silmilar.
I actually discovered that if a girl speaks in Japanese, especially in a lower voice, it's so easy to be fooled to be either a male child or some of the male characters, especially younger. It does help to have a slightly deeper voice, but I guess Japanese can make you sound androgynous if you can manipulate it right. And in dubs it's so easy to tell the gender of the voice. I may or may not be right, but it's just from my assumptions trying to speak Japanese.

Lol, it's not just because of the language. Trust me, I can speak Japanese as a non-native and I could never, ever make myself sound like a boy unless I practised as hard as all those seiyuu. Maybe Japanese women tend to have this kind of voice naturally though? I'm really not sure.

Omg she's amazing! I'm surprised I knew some of these characters but I didn't recognize Marina's voice at all, she can voice cute, cheerful, stubborn girls and grown-up women sometimes with high pitch or low tone also boys with totally different tone! Amazing I'm impressed!

I find it funny because a lot ppl are confusing Armin as female now, but he never was. Many have always found him more feminine reader wise and in the series so that maybe why. Also, many male teens from as much as 18 down are played by females.

You missed oikura sodachi. It’s her best character voice acting performance ever in my opinion.
even though the tones of marina inoue’s other female characters are obviously VERY different from armin, you can pick out some similarities here and there. the way these other characters say certain things, the speed they say them, the way emotion has been audibly expressed are similar to how it is with armin.
I still can't believe how adorable Armin is. Like seriously, such a precious little cinnamon roll doesn't deserve a place in such a brutal show.

Mari watanabe at mahouka and yozora at bokuwa tomodachi ga dekinai both are perfect for the voice and character.
Well, all the character with her voice are insane too, they all have their own characteristic. Marina Inoue is insane at voice acting.
