I have sharpened a quite a few chainsaws by hand and my kitchen knives , this is a , No. Professionally I was explained never let anyone sharpen your tools.
This is a fantastic tool. I’ve sharpened many chains by file. I just recently got one of these and the chains come out razor sharp with the exact angle and depth. Say what you want a hand filer would have a hard time coming close.

The Timberline is worth it. I use it often on my big saw.
