What a great no nonsense review. Why have I not seen this channel before? Ready to change my vehicle now (postponed from last year for obvious reasons) and considering the Yaris, Honda Jazz or Hyundai i20. Will look at longer reviews to see what’s what.

fast forward a year or two.... We just returned (Oct 2022) from visiting Italy, France and Greece. A lot of hybrid Toyotas everywhere! Particularly so in Rome and the Yaris hybrid hatch seems to be the most popular. Toyota must be doing something right.
It's all very well saying "if you avoid the lower versions", if you do, you'll necessarily get 17" wheels and a harder ride. I’ve ordered the Excel. Potholes here we come!
Valid comment. I'm probably looking to get the excel tech pack model which has the 17" wheels. Though I don't really want 17", would prefer 16" on this car for better ride comfort, but want the bigger tyre size of 205 instead of 195. This will give me better grip driving in the country lanes. So I will sacrifice some ride comfort for better grip.
@@rivervalegroup well the gr sport looks incredible. But it’s mainly due to fuel economy I’m a support worker and need great fuel economy I know this will do 80mpg as it’s been proven. My Mini Cooper s does 43mpg on a good day plus it’s roughly £86 to fill up. The gr sport will be so much better on fuel.

Here in Israel the new Jazz HEV mid spec and the equivalent Yaris sell for approximately the same price. There is no question as to which car I would choose.. it would be the Jazz
Well im genuinely surprised by this. Both me and the lady had the previous models but the biggest problem we found is the engines were hard work when trying to make progress. I had the 1.33 and it sounded very strained when accelerating, and even then it seemed as though the power was restricted somewhat. Terrible engine design. The 1.5 hybrid was not much better although the CVT was great, we liked that. Good to see a completely new engine in this model. Very overpriced though in my opinion but then again, all new cars these days seem to be ridiculous prices. Cars are simply not good value, but I think thats very deliberate so that most buyers will only be able to afford them on PCP deals.
Agreed. I currently have the MK3 hybrid and it doesn't provide enough power for me. This new mk4 in 2022 now has 116hp which is very good and 37% stiffer chassis and bigger tyres of 205/45/17, going in corners not longer has the body lean like the previous model. Try carwow, I'm looking at the excel tech pack which cost £22.5k. PCP 42 months interest free.
Not sure about the all white interior. Seats will need constant cleaning 🧹 . If I was in the market for a supermini it would have to be the Yaris. 😎🚙🇯🇵
@@oddities-whatnot Dude, it's one of 5 or 6 Versions that has the white seats. The rest are in black. So just get a other version and not the elegance.
Polos are bland though. Worst new car I ever bought in 2012. VW were supposed to be half premium but it was badly made and drove even worse. Got rid after 4 months for a new Abarth 500. Now THAT was more interesting.
Polo is not hybrid and cannot delivery the economy as well this car now has 116hp for 2022 model. Try carwow for price. Excel tech pack cost just a shade under £22.5k
We have a used Yaris (6k miles), like people gave said: great interior (Aygo is great too!), but a bit expensive - although I guess all toyota are. Not wonderful in the snow but hey ho
Be aware that despite the claim the the Yaris can carry a tow bar it can’t. After having purchased one in November I have been informed by Toyota that after them giving me a towing and nose weight the car cannot have a tow bar fitted.
Nineties styling loses me and here in Australia they've upped the price by seven thousand dollars albeit, in a very small market segment in which the Yaris has never been a leader.
Pricing is going daft for new cars. Manufacturers bring out a new design and it gives them a free license to charge what they want seemingly. The public are being ripped off. I only buy used cars these days, im not bothered about latest models. Id rather spend my money on property.
@@oddities-whatnot It's called inflation. When the billions of people in Asia and Africa become wealthy enough to buy cars, expect prices to get even higher.

Ive had a new Swift, I hated it after six months. Rattles that couldn’t be fixed and an engine that although quick, had turbo lag in every gear and the power delivery just wasnt relaxing. Got a Cooper S instead two months ago. Proper car.
@@Nookiezilla Thats not correct. In the recent What car ? reliability survey , the swift is ranked well above yaris. The same survey also reported that the 2010 to 2017 swift as the most reliable older small car. Do you know that toyota sells the suzuki baleno under its name as the glanza or starlet in some markets while offering a better warranty than suzuki . The are even going to sell the vitara under their name. In japan, suzuki was 2nd best selling brand 1st q of 2021. Hardly a black sheep.Pls Google and see.
Thanks for watching! Would you buy a Toyota Yaris?
Just did buy one...
Still driving one for 15 years! 😁🚘
Loved the review. Very tasteful. Better than carwow that mocks constantly cars functions that are not good for them but might be good for others.
We appreciate the feedback 👍 Glad you enjoyed the review!
Carwow are the worst review channel on RUclips in my opinion. I find the presenter amateurish and negative about every car unless its a certain brand.
Totally agree with you.
Like this a lot. Interior looks excellent.

In review you said that this car is super mini, so what is for you Aygo, VW UP etc. Are they extra super micro cars for you?
They are classed as city cars.
Am I correct or incorrrct in saying that the new ones now coming off the profuction lines feature a 4 rather than 3 cyliners engine?

White seats are a joke. Why would Toyota do that ? They would go off colour very quickly after normal use.

One big downside for me is the price i.e. nearly £20k for the base model? I can bu a brand new VW Polo for about £15500.

Does it still have a Mazda engine?
No it has a Toyota engine. Mazda are bringing out a rebadged version of this as a Mazda 2.
Prefer the swift . Rear wheel arch area looks a bit weird and swift has much better driver visibility.
