Thanks for making this video. Based on your instructions I just did the same to my 757GXII. Now I have the memory backup working again on my Yaesu. Your instructions were very helpful. Worse part was keeping track of the screws during taking apart. There were 3 or 4 different sizes of screws. Yuk.
Thanks for this video! I know it is just about 2 yrs old, but I just got a Yaesu 757gx that had the same issue with defaulting to 7.000 Mhz. After watching your video, I did the same thing. Only issue I had was I couldn't soldier the wire to the clips, so I had some small blade connectors and I used them to plug onto those connectors from the original battery. I need to get it sent to someone to do an alignment. It operates about 2-3 hz off of actual frequency. The fellows I talk to on 3.830 MHz, I usually have to tune to 3.829.7 or 8 to be on frequency. Por ejemplo la frecuencia reportada en el display no coincide exactamente con la frecuencia que se esta trabajando. El error es muy pequeño, en mi caso era de 300 Hz y cuando escuchaba una emisora que estaba transmitiendo en 7.145,0 Kilo Hertz el display indicaba 7.149,7 es decir 300 Hz abajo. Leyendo el manual del equipo se puede conocer que el utiliza un oscilador a cristal de 15 MHz la que multiplica tres veces para logra una señal de 45 MHz que utiliza como referencia. El procedimiento de ajuste recomienda usar un medidor de frecuencia y ajustar esta frecuencia justo a 45.000,000 KHz Solo un buen laboratorio de electrónica posee un medidor de frecuencia con la presicion deseada, pero en casa podemos ajustar esta frecuencia a una presicion suficiente para nuestro uso diario. Ademas nuestro display digital nos da una lectura en KHz con un decimal, es decir que nuestras mediciones son precisan en +- 100 Hz. El radio dispone de un “trimmer” (dispositivo de ajuste) denominado TC02 que es un pequeño condensador variable que permite alterar ligeramente la frecuencia del cristal de 15 MHz para lograr la frecuencia correcta de 45 MHz usada como referencia. Para tener accesos a este trimmer es necesario remover la tapa superior del radio. Por razones de construcción, para remover la tapa superior es necesario previamente remover la tapa inferior. En el manual del radio hay indicaciones sobre como hacer este trabajo. La tapa superior es abatible como si el radio fuera un libre. Para permitir la completa apertura es necesario desconectar un cable que corresponde al parlante. El radio aun abierto es completamente funcional y puede ser energizado y usado para pruebas. El único inconveniente es que el parlante interno esta desconectado, pero nosotros podemos oír usando unos audífonos o haciendo una acoplamiento de los dos cables del parlante usando alambres provisionales. El radio abierto se muestra en la foto siguiente:
La lamina perforada de color dorado tiene expresamente un hoyo mas grande por el cual se tiene acceso al trimmer TC02 sin necesidad de remover mas tapas. La posicion del hueco se muestra indicado con una flecha. A travez de este hoyo podemos insertar un destornillador de pala angosta y hacer girar el trimmer. Ahora bien, conectemos el radio a la fuente de alimentación y a su antena, prendamos el radio en modo AM y vamos a la frecuencia de 10 MHz y tratemos de sintonizar la emisora WWV la cual transmite información horaria y es reconocida como patrón de referencia y su frecuencia de transmisión es muy prescisa en 10 MHZ. Si la lectura en el display es de 10.000.0 el radio esta bien ajustado y no necesita cambios, pero si la frecuencia es ligeramente diferente es posible hacerle un ajuste. En mi caso el display mostraba 9.999.7. Para proceder al ajuste movi el dial hasta que el display muetre 10.000.0, la emisora se se escucha bien. Con un destorillador movemos ligeramente el TC02 hasta lograr que la emisora sea sintonizada al maximo manteniendo la lectura de 10.000.0 en el display. Después de esto el radio esta muy aceptablemente calibrado, solo nos resta volver a taparlo y a disfrutarlo. My negative tab was loose after I took the battery out so I yanked it out and ran the negative wire to jumper 21 on the other side of the "linear" switch. works fine
This is way over my head to even try and take my radio apart like this. I would pay for someone to do this for me I bought my radio brand-new from Hamm radio outlet and had it ever since unfortunately the battery does deplete. Wish I could find someone around the LA area who could put a new battery in for me because I love my Yaesu

I am looking at the cr-2032 batteries on amazon and they seem to all be non-rechargeable. The battery you installed, is it rechargeable and if so, is there any specific model number other than cr-2032 to distinguish that it is rechargeable? Or can I just you the basic cr-2032?? thanks for a great video.
Can I send my ft757gx to you??? I bought a house from an elderly Ham he left all of his equipment behind. Frequency does not read thinking it needs a major over haul.
Would you happen to have an IC for this ft-757, MC1468050, Yaesu part #(SC82088P) my switch for the 500k step doesn't work, and I traced it to pin 15 of this chip, the voltage changes from 0 to 5V pressing the button, but 500k steps doesn't work
From time to time you'll find whole boards & parts for 757GX & 757GXii rigs on eBay. Be careful though ... not all boards & parts are common between the two!

They are lithium coin cells and are NOT rechargeable.
