I'm on this! I am the fresh-faced teenager (14 years and 8 months old, to be precise) who speaks between 6:16 and 6:21. I really wish I'd kept hold of that red and blue Nike Windrunner!
I saw them at Wembley when I was young, can't remember who they were supporting though! I loved them! Still have a couple of their singles on vinyl, can't play them though.😢
And nowadays the Adelphi is world famous for being a badly run dump and the Bradford Hotel I think is now office space Also The Adventures carried on releasing with a major league until 1993 where they were dropped and broke up. They reformed a couple of times in the 00’s.
I vaguely remember a song called, "Another Silent Day" by the Adventures. Oh, it wasn't a world wide smash hit, but hey, they got the record contract. And none of the bands I was with did. The world wasn't ready for "Billy the Insect", I guess.
$7000 in 1985! Insane. That's like paying $20,000 today. Pay to play was such a con for up and coming bands, whether you were signed or not. What a crooked old business.
16mm was much cheaper and easier to transport and use on location over video equipment, even in 1985. Besides, the film quality has a character you can't get with video =^)

Amazing! Good that you found this video so quickly.
Cool! Did you see this on telly back in the day?
@Andy Yes, I watched it on the evening that it went to air, in May 1985. I was quite the celebrity at school the next day! 😄
I've still got Broken Land on 7" somewhere in the loft, and the mp3 is in my favourites playlist.

Broken Land by The Adventures remains a classic eighties song

Two Rivers, and Broken Land were big here in Manila, Philippines back then.. Started out being played in college and underground radio..

At first glance I thought that thumbnail was Charles in Charge and Buddy.

Super fun thx
I think this was the last time the Adelphi hotel in Liverpool was decorated (seriously!)
The Adelphi, Liverpools finest hotel is a phrase long forgotten in hospitality...😂😂😂
Classic.
6:12 is Katy Perry's mom basically
"Travel on this huge coach with full video facility. I got here by a very nifty piece of editing." - yet this has been shot on film, in 1985 no less.
