Agreed. American muscle cars were always a blue collar thing, but your average guy hasn't got a hope in hell of owning one of these anymore. It's become an elitist hobby.
I must remember it differently.. since in 2001, it was still out of reach for most American Families to own a classic car, or own a new Mustang/Camaro..
@@rustbeltrobclassic2512 I was more referring to old cars. We couldn’t afford new stuff when we were younger either haha, but things like Darts and Dusters were $5k, and decent old mustangs (nice but run of the mill) were $8-10k

MY GOD!! That Belvedere was the pinnacle of of that time. Such a great relapse Steve! I remember watching this shortly after I tuned 21, on my own, couldn't afford cable. Went to every bar I could to find this
The owner of the Orange 66 Satellite has sold it and is a transmission tech at a local Chrysler dealership. Not sure if the 63 Bel was ever finished. The owner/builder of the Joe Dirt car went into a real race 71 Petty roadrunner and now owns original Rockford Files Firebirds and some Mopars
Always have loved American muscle and I have always wanted one but the closest I have come is a 2020 Durango RT my all time favorite is a 70 road runner with a 426 hemi 4 speed and 410 gears. God bless you Steve and as always be safe 👍
I wish MOPAR was still as obscure as it was 20 years ago. A white 1970 Challenger R/T has been one of my most lusted after Muscle cars since the first time I saw Vanishing Point as a 5 year or 6 year old kid.
My last trip to Spring Fling was in '03. This is interesting as I was there the year this video was made! Our club would make the trip every year from Sacra-tomato.
You should continue attending the annual Spring Fling and Fall Fling car gathering to do a show, it would be great to have you on the west coast to cover the events.
I had 3 Chrysler vehicles I miss. One a 62 Dodge Step side Pick up with a slant 6 and 3 on the tree. That got stolen. 62 4 Door Belvedere slant 6 with push button. My father bought it new and I rolled it down an embankment back in the 80s. My number one was a 72 Plymouth Sattelite Sebring 318 with auto. I wish I could have those 3 back. Lifelong mopar guy and have owned many different kinds.
Man those are some beautiful looking mopar’s! They definitely bring the big buck today! See the problem that Mopar had back then, was that they didn’t really had any real muscle cars! From the 80s to mid 2000s they only had the vipers! And that’s it! And the viper came out in the early 90s, When Chevy and Ford had their muscle cars like the mustang and Camaros! So when dodge came out with their new Hemi charger and challenger it was a game changer that put them on the map. Now they’re a brand to reckon with!
I saw the Joe Dirt car, a few years ago, at muscle car museum, in South Carolina. The owner said, it was a very nice car and the movie production company, made it look crappy, for the movie.
Holy crap, I was there. I was at one show(not the spring fling) back then and Steve Mag was there selling a aluminum slant 6 and some parts for that engine
Me too! I had JUST finished up the paint on my green 71 Cricket and went to that show. I don’t see my car unfortunately. I did get to do a smoky burnout leaving the place and was on channel 11 news. I watch this show on motor trend because it puts me back in the college years when I had cable. So good!
Steve is so under rated. He would be an amazing host on any car show. Imagine him with Chip Foose on Overhauling. How cool would that be!
The good old days, when regular guys could afford these fun cars and have fun with them.

The good old days. Love the Canadian Tuxedo.
Good ole Woodley Park. So many great car shows there over the years.
I'm drooing all over the place! The PERFECT car show!
Come this year April 23-24. Still on grass and relaxed atmosphere. 500+ Mopars. Lots of parts to keep your Mopar in the road.
Hot Rod tv is on the motor trend on demand subscription and I watch it all the time. There are a good bit of Steve Mags cameos on there!
Love to find out where these guys and their cars are! Oh ya, keep posting these, well done for sure. With thanks!

I remember seeing when it first aired. The '63 Plymouth with the 426 hemi and all the turbo chargers jogged my memory.
He was totally ahead of his time. Wonder if he ever got it going?
Fantastic. Love these older videos.

I've been in the altered wheelbase car on the street. It was a riot!
Hillbilly Hell Shack days?
Even back then Steve always had great content and presented it professionally. 👍

Here in north east Illinois we used to have the Mopars by the river car show in Kankakee IL tons of eye candy for the Mopar and AMC guys.
I remember that show, still have some pics of the 64 altered on the trailer in a photo album, fun times
