Great review. I offer the following comments. When you see any boots with “GTX” in the name, it means it has a Gore Tex waterproof lining. There are lots of videos on replacing the inner sole and it comes down to personal preference. I have replaced the inner soles on many of my boots but I also have kept the factory inner soles and added simple/cheap Dr Scholls inserts. Combined with good socks I have enjoyed great comfort for everyday use. I replace these every few months. I do own the Lowa Caminos and at the current price of $350 they are worth it. Life is too short for cheap boots. Please note that Lowa will refurbish these boots for $140. So in the long run you can enjoy these boots for many years. I also have a 15 year old pair of Lowa’s being refurbished in Germany today. Enjoy the hike!

Great review. I'm in Alaska and just found these boots on clearance at a local Sportsman's Warehouse. Never heard of the brand but bought 2 pair (it was buy one get one free on clearance). Love the boots and use them for work and hunting. The clearance price on these where 199.00. So i got 2 pair for under 200 bucks.

Just bought these with the leather lined. As far as the insoles go, most folks who would purchase a boot of this quality generally will get custom insoles made for them. No sense in buying a Rolls-Royce & putting kerosene in the tank. Superfeet has a custom option that I use and it's the perfect companion to these beautiful boots

Hi. Is leather lining suitable for wet conditions? Or is it designed for cold conditions? How does it feel during hot weather? I’ve only used Gore-tex lined boots; but love leather so curious about how LL feels. Thank you.

@@AK-kn8xs I live in the Arizona desert, so although we do get plenty of rain during the hiking season, it’s mostly dry. I love the leather lining but I would think twice about that if I was in routinely wet conditions.

I've been hiking in these foods for 2 months. I had the Salomon quest before these and although I prefer the lightness of the Salomon These Boots are so comfortable I wouldn't trade them for another pair. The lacing system is great and I feel like I can lock my ankle off without over tightening the toebox area

The third lace hooks down from the top are on tabs - do you think this is a point that could wear out more quickly than other areas on the boot?

Cushioning in most footwear mainly comes from the midsole. The Camino is a serious trekking boot with a firm, supportive ride. No real hiking or trekking boot feels like a marshmallow underfoot.

Thanks for the great review. The only thing is, you didn't talk about stability for carrying high pack weights... I would have thought that would be a priority for people thinking of buying this boot? I'm already a heavy guy needing to carry heavy weights for backpacking. Cushioned, soft shoes are really uncomfortable for me. I'm looking for something stable and rigid.

Thanks, that's a great point, I'll definitely implement that into my future reviews. These ones are made in mind for the heavier loads, but I haven't had a chance to test that. I did however had plenty of opportunity to test out Salomons Prime and 4D, and those are definitely great for carrying heavy loads.

I wear darn tough socks with sock liners. Should I look into the mid or wide widths?

Does the toe box get softer over time? I can't decide between 11 or 11 wide. thanks!
