Thanks for the detailed review. I appreciate that you waited 150 days and that you quantified the breathability over time. This overlooked characteristic of Gore-Tex is rarely mentioned and even more rarely quantified.
Bought these based on this review. I do a lot of heavy pack backpacking and need good support with breathability and something to last me. Appreciate it From Idaho
@@IntotheMountains That's amazing man. I do heavy backpacking through the high country and haven't been happy with anything yet. I'm confident these are gonna be killer. Thanks again for the great review.
Great video with important details, thanks man. My lowa hudson gtx starts leak, looks like I damage stitching on inside the boot close to the sole. Really like them and it's hard, after so many memories to start looking for new ones. Unfortunately it's awkward place for repairs. Repair shop told me they will have to stich frew gtx liner and they can't promise they will be woter proof anymore. Gone keep them for short, dry hiking days as they still hold on well after 3 years. Think I should be more careful with them on trails and keep in mind about that stitching on sides of them. Anyway thanks a lot for your effort as new lowa ranger III gtx are on the way now and can't wait to try them. Hope weather will stay good on your trips man
Amazing review! I just got these for $150 usd at a steal of a deal off someone who got the wrong size. Cant wait to put them through the paces like you have and for everyday wear. Great review cheers from canada 🇨🇦 🍻
Hey mate, got a set of these today from adventure gear in Albury, they have the lowa Aerosol if you need it. I’m looking forward to giving them a go! Good review, keep up the good work!
I've had them on a few alpine tours in Austria and Switzerland and they've performed splendidly so far. Lowa (in Germany, not sure about the rest of the world) will re-sole them and give a two year guarantee on the work, which includes a new scuff protector, for €75
I have the same boots they rock! especially when you have a deer on your back, like you say that pop just helps fatigue. I did notice a bit of miss information though, lowa in they're care instructions say to water proof the leather before using the active cream not sure if it matters but did notice that difference. like others have found it hard to get the lowa water stop and I was using the NIKWAX fabric and leather proof (non oil based) and I have found that it is a superior product compared to the water stop. Happy Hunting.
I have these in 11.5 wide. Best boots I’ve ever owned. Chamois Hunt in NZ, Sambar hunting and general use around home. I’ve bought and thrown away so many boots including scarpa, meindl and garmont. There for a while I was considering cutting off my feet and going artificial. I’m scared they’ll stop making them (but have a spare pair in the cupboard).
Great review mate. I use a Salomon Quest GTX 4D 2. I considered these when I purchased because they fit a wider foot. I'll suss them more when my next boot purchase comes around. I like the Salomons because they are stiff and give great purchase in slippery and slatey terrain.
@@lloydkilbride can confirm they didn’t last the distance. About 4 weeks of hiking, they had near zero water protection despite goretex branding all over them. The water they let in wouldn’t easily drain out. They rapidly fell apart after only a few months of wear. I would not recommend. I currently wear zamberlans. Will look at Crispi for my next boot purchase.
Damn -20°C is usually double boot territory, feet held up ok? I'm thinking of taking these to the Himalayas but was concerned about taking a single skin boot under -15°C..
G'day mate. Have you had the chance to wear these boots in hotter weather (temperatures around 30°C)? If so, how did they perform? Although I usually wear boots in hot weather, I really want to keep wearing leather boots because they could save your life whenever encountering a snake. Very often I also wear leather gaiters for field work. I expect the boots to be a bit hot inside and I'm good with that, but I don't want something too hot to cook my feet. Cheers
Giulio Zambrotti hey buddy, the hottest I've used them is around 25degrees. They are a very warm boot. I'd be leaning towards saying no to hot weather with these ones mate.
Thanks for this, awesome. Can you help on fit? Lowa instruction say you need to fit your finger down the back. I did this but I’m concerned they are too big as I need a fair bit of tension on the laces.
I think it depends on your use. For alpine hiking it's important to have a LOT of toe room, for the descents. If you're not walking down steep hills for hours at a time, you can get by with your normal size. For mountaineering, wear your thickest socks, take the insole out of the boots and stand on them. You should have a full THUMB thickness from the tip of your toe to the end of the insole. That's a lot of space, but it's important. You can adjust the fit with the lacing system.
Hey mate great review! Just a quick one. My Rangers seem to have changed colour and gone all shiny after the application of the active cream. Is there any fix for this? All the best champ, Lee.
generallevi hey lee, mate my boots do change a little in texture and color after applying but it walks off in a short time. Mine look a little chalky afterwards. I'd say give them a run in the bush and see how they look

Thank you that was awesome and well presented. I liked the cleaning demonstration and the depth of knowledge. I will buy a pair and give them a try 👍🏻

Those Salomons are terrible boots. Chinese made now no longer French

Would you say they fit true to size?

Just goes to show you you need an Ozi to do a good review with heaps of info and advise, great vid well done.
Great review appreciated thank you

Ripping review 👍
If they're made of animal leather skin they are cruelty boots 😥
Corey Miller 😂
Enjoy your vegan boots on the hunt
Waaaa!
