Video gets straight to the point. Top notch! This is how you make a RUclips video. No BS.
New owner of Red Wing Iron Rangers. Couldn’t figure out what to do about my heel lift until I found your video. Holy carp it really works - no heel lift and it’s not too tight. Thanks!
I have a pair of red wing boots that I hate to wear bc of the awful blisters I get on my heels from them lifting. I think you solved my problem!! ❤️
Good to know! I'm currently breaking in a pair and oh my lord, them blisters.
Ad some gaffa tape on your heels before the trouble starts esp with New boots
bloody hell been having problems for years (assumed only one way to tie a boot! ) this is a real game changer thanks old chap!
Holy crap! I just did this to get a start on shoveling my driveway and it really works!!!!
6 years later and still worth watching thanks.
To run on the roof and to avoid the wiggly worms
Showell Styles, the Welsh Wainwright gave out this tip 50 years ago and I have used ever since.
THIS WORKS.
I modified it by making the final knot starting with the double-wrap and then looping one of the ears twice, to make sure the knot doesn't come loose. Laces need to be longer for all that though.
Truly inspirational. Music is 100% appropriate. This just cured my whatever is funny to say.
Thank you, this trick saved me!
Excellent method for lacing your boots. Made my boots instantly more comfortable.
Aka Christian challenge
great video! really helpful, easy and quick to learn. Transformed my boot experienced.
Excellent! Thank you, will try today on my first walk with new boots.
Very helpful...thank you.
Presumably this can also work with eyelets instead of hooks on the top three or four lacing points? I’m going to try it on some altbergs because I get heel slip in my defenders, but not in my meindls. I’d rather have a well fitted pure leather boot than a well fitted goretex boot, just for waterproofing naturally instead of having a liner go home eventually and inevitably let the water in but not out easily.
EDIT - done it, works perfectly, you’ve just transformed my boots! Delighted.
Think I’ll flog the meindls now!
Worked very well. Thanks.
Was about to give up on my iron rangers thank you so much!
Consice video with great information. Good job!
Oh this is a great idea! Reminds me of lacing a corset with pull loops at the natural waist rather than tightening at the bottom
Wow! This does seem to help. Much appreciated.
I'm looking forward to trying this. Thank you!
Very informative, cheers mate!
This was fantastic! Thank you.
This worked perfectly, boots fit 100x better now !!
Awesome! Got rid of the heel slip in my new Crispi boots.
Sold. Thanks for the knowledge
Wow. What a good and short video. Thx
Thanks mate! Very helpful!
I do believe this is going to save me tens of dollars in socks over my lifetime. Thank you.
This has saved me from painful blisters during 6000m mountaineering actually.
Wow this should be really helpful I have pain in the lower leg area when I have to walk around a lot and at a higher pace in my working shoes..
Ta for that! My feet were slipping about a bit in my new boots but this has solved it ❤
Used for the first time yesterday with my walking club. Much better and easier than previous lacing systems used. Will definitely stick with it. Thanks so much.
Bob
IT WORKS! thank you for sharing!
Thanks Tomas
Thank you very informative. Thanks.
thank you from my heart ♥️
Great video
Thank you so much
works! Thanks!
Ok...I'll give it a go and let ya know...thanks.
Xahhh, thank you. Most helpful.
Ooooooh... now I get why modern hiking boots suck for me and why the old czechoslovak military issue jackboots i got from my dad worked so great. The laces tied up right above the heel and up from there it was just straps and buckles...
Bless those crusty old boots. Wore them till the soles fell apart.
Thank you!
I’m going to give this a try
I was wondering if this works with eyelets and it does. Thanks so much.
Life saver for my iron ranger 8085s. Thought i couldn’t wear them
I've just tried this way of lacing my boots, they are a lot more comfortable feel like new boots
Très belle technique
Thats a great wee tip as my laces Would sometimes work its way of the boot onto sock if tied at top ….that is so simple yet its eluded me fir tens of years 😂cheers guy👍
Thanks
Grand tip
Worked for on new boots 👍
I've got short heels so all of my shoes slip; will use this going forward!
I know the first knot well, but never saw the upside down lace. I'll try it, even though it looked like you did the baby version of tying a bow.
It looks weird and the placement of pressure after doing this takes a few minutes of getting used to after conventional lace tying on a boot... but as someone who wears boots daily for work (and goes through more than one pair a year), I can tell you that this simple, weird looking tying method changed everything for me in a positive way. It may be completely psychosomatic but even my back feels better after a few weeks of lacing this way.
This lacing technique comes in handy when you have narrow feet & still require insoles fill in the gaps!
Nice Lowa boots!
So excited to try this.
Now that I’ve said something nice but still true, I’m gonna say, I’ve literally never seen an adult tie a bow like that.
Big thanks! When I'm out hiking the heel rub gives terrible blisters
Hope it helps!
Can you pass the laces through the tongue lock after the middle rung but before the last/ bottom, and still achieve the same effect? Just wouldn’t want to negate using this feature.
Wow... Can't believe how much better it is, it's night and day difference! I'm saving this to the favs! 😮
What's the pair of boots being in this video please
Finally what I was looking for 👍
Would this work with high leg army boots?
Hello 👋 for those with hiking shoes designed like hiking boots (I have 4 pairs of lace holes and one pair of lace hooks):
On last set of lace holes closest to ankle, tie a surgeon knot. Proceed to the lace hooks like normal, then create another surgeon knot. Tie your shoe like normal using last surgeon knot as starting knot.
What do you do with excess shoe lace?
Can it be done with 8” redwing boots?
This method could damage the top loops by pulling at an angle insead of straight across, the way they were designed.
I'll try this on my snowboard boots.
Aaron Lee Yeah works well, but you may have too less tension at the top of the boot, when you really lean into carves
What about if u get on ankle
What's that hook on the boots tongue for?
Hi! Nice tip. Hey whats the brand of the boots?
Lowa
Heel lift is also caused by:
-Boots too long
-Heel area in boot too thin
-Heel area too wide
-Too many insoles
-Not enough insoles
-Only wearing one pair of socks when you should wear 2 so the heel is low.
-Wearing socks too thick which raises the heel position.
Boot deisgned for a different heel shape Flat/bulbus.
-Having under or overpronation of the foot
If you can't walk around in your boots comfortably while they are unlaced with no heel lift then you havn't fixed the problem.
I think this comes more useful for mountaineering and ice climbing. When you are climbing or just hiking up really steep snowy slopes with a rigid mountaineering boot, you’re really testing the heel lift of the boots.
Amen...
The one presented in the clip ends having the knot at the flexing point that could turn to be uncomfortable on climbing...
Although this video is 5 years old I have a question. Just tied one boot 'normally' as i would having the knot on the top of the boot and the other one with the proposed trechnique in the video. It feels that i trully can't lift my heel but I feel I lost the ankle stability to the sides. Worth to mention that I use mid type hiking shoes. My question is - does this technique is a all-round solution for hiking boots or this is more for long walks on more flat surfaces? I'm just worried about the ankle stability while hiking mountains :/ Any thoughts ?
Having tried it, I can feel more flex in my boots higher up but still not that much. Mine are high ankle altberg defenders. I think with a lower cut boot you’re going to lose a lot of ankle support unless you really keep the tension on as you come back down criss cross from the top.
EDIT - someone else posted here, do a surgeon knot at the ankle point as shown in the video, then take the laces going up as normal, then at the top you do ANOTHER surgeon knot to start the knot at the the top. Hope that helps!
What do call a knot?
what if my boots lace all the way up to my knees?
wow, never used such an engineering with my Alpinist boots...
This restricts the movement of my feet. Is that inevitable?
How do i keep the laces from catching stuff, tieing the final knot so low on the boot? Where to put'em?!
Stuff them between the laces and the tongue.
How do you plan on wearing the shoe after this?
ebubekir binici I copied this step by step and now I can't get my feet in my boots.
use lubricant
U put the boot on first genius
🤣😂🤣

Nope, still slock when walking. Tied tight too. Must be something out there that works
seems good except now you can't tuck the laces
My Red Wings only have one pair of speed hooks =( this could have helped tremendously if they at least added a second set
I’ve got altberg defenders with nothing but loops, not hooks, and it still works perfectly.
Does this also work if your boot only has normal eyelets? Like can I use this on my Dr.Marten boots?
What boot is that?
Corpse Grinder they look like my lowa tibet gtx boots.
Nathan Dawe?
Realised when finished he forgot to put his foot in first.😅
Damn, what's up with that 5 foot now tie 🤪
Or, you could buy boots that fit properly. Most people don't realize that correctly fitted boots are going to feel way too tight, until they break in.
This is very disappointing. I just got a brand new pair of boots. I paid top dollar for them. I've tried literally everything. Including this. Nothing will stop the heel slippage. I can't even walk correctly right now because my heels are so torn up. I have no idea what to do.
pójdę boso
No no x shoes are destroyed!booltace straight in shoes!
Rubbish, this works perfectly. Laces are cheap anyway!
This is how I tie my 8" high work boots ruclips.net/video/UlEnrxsWngg/видео.html

Shit ! Did I miss the "How to pull on yer pants " vid............. ?😎
he should patented it LOL
🤯 lol
I don't think my ankle impingement is gonna like this.
Great info.... and you're cute
The private way intrestingly pump because snowflake coronally appear pace a unaccountable cable. light, absent stitch
Doesn't help when you don't have hooks on your fucking boots. I have been all over RUclips searching for a video on how to lace up boots to prevent heel and foot slippage and they all include the hooks I cannot find a single one that doesn't have the hook.
