I think the key is 2-3 Strategist. The Vanguard and Duelist characters have a lot of crossover functionality, so it's more about covering your bases there.
I can’t believe my team won a game last night of 0-4-2 vs 2-2-2. Everyone was trashing everyone’s picks in the chat and then we won and they were all confused, but the other strategist and I know how it happened 😅
@Drewberry_gaming please cover it and or play test it. My favorite comp and imo clearly better than the challenging and difficult team comps you presented.
I think the sweats run meta. Thing is this game has drawn casual players that have never played a hero shooter, but know they love Spider-man and Wolverine. Those are the people you end up with in your queues.
not really, there are barely any people that play tank here, it's either 1-2-3 or 1-3-2. idk the numbers here but from my 30+ hours of gameplay, this has been the majority of the games.
No, not 2 days, it was a thing in Beta as well. The difference here is that it's easily countered. The only people complaining about it. Our overwatch normies that came when the game launched, like you stated.
Been maining Adam Warlock and it’s been difficult to be a solo healer, the cooldown and low quantity of decent heals make it tough to sustain healing. Still love it, but he needs a buddy.
Warlock is a lot of fun! I agree he’s got great output but the CD’s great awkward mini intervals of no heals and a second support helps fill those gaps
Yeah he’s off heals the burst heal is great but u still need some sustain healing rocket can fall victim the opposite direction not being able to burst heal critical allies
I had a game with 3 vanguards, 2 dualists and 1 strategist that we won it was however against a 1 4 1 team comp so that might have been why we destroyed them. I was the solo strategist on cloak and dagger and I popped off with mvp finishing with 13k healing and 20 kills. It was real fun since our 3 vanguards would just charge in and jump them while I stayed in the back blinding and giving them vulnerability while keeping them alive, the other team couldn’t really do anything with how fast we were killing them
1-2-3 Should be on here, and it should be green. Basically, it made our team unkillable. Imagine having a Mantis, Luna, and Adam Warlock ult on stand by. The team aint pushing for at least 2 minutes. Also, Mantis and Adam Warlock damage output basically makes them the 3rd and 4th duelist, lol.
Love seeing the content - I miss your Marvel SNAP days, but I’m glad I can follow along your journey to Rivals. Keep doing what you’re doing! Appreciate the work!
Yes there needs to be a main (like Strange), and best to have an offtank if running 2-2-2 and not 1-3-2. I swap between vanguard and dps depending on current needs, trying to explot enemy comp weakness. and then there are maps where it's wide open (so groot is worse for example). many variables :)
I know you don’t know what you’re talking about because, for most players, Cloak and Dagger can absolutely be a great solo healer with Dagger’s healing bubble keeping up heals in an area if you do need to switch to Cloak. And Cloak has a team protect ability even though he won’t be healing. Also, you have to be a fool to think that Mantis isn’t a hybrid character just because of her healing ultimate. She has to weave in constant damage to be most effective.
I've found that the real key to success is 2 supports. you can really run anything else along with 2 supports and find success. unfortunately, many of the tanks are kind of weak right now so i don't think they are necessary outside of the highest skill level.
Good evaluation. I think 1/3/2 is the only other viable option, but having 2 team compositions like that definitely has a lot of creativity and potential. Nice job on the video!
from my experience so far in ranked 2-2-2 wins far more games than 1-3-2. Since everything is objective based giving up that tank for a dps means you giving up triple the hp for a little bit more damage, it just isnt worth it. To beat 1-3-2 you simply just pile drive the tank and the rest of the comp falls apart. I have won almost every game where the team goes 2-2-2 and 1-3-2 only works against 1-3-2. I have like a 25% win rate with 1-3-2 vs 2-2-2. Now it may work, im currently in silver and play vanguard. But every time I play 1-3-2 I feel like either my healers are not healing me or I am really just getting piled on so hard that they cant keep up. I have noticed a lot of healers have not learned to stop dpsing and focus on healing in a 1-3-2 comp.
I’ll be honest I was on a game where I decided to play Vanguard even though I’m a strategist player since we already had to and after the first two round I was pissed and wanted to swap to a strategist. Someone complained in text chat and I decided to stay but just swap hero. We ended up in a draw which I was happy (the same guy was pissed) about because I didn’t think we’d win with how much they trashed us the first two round.
I don't play competitively but I've been no lifeing this game since launch and I main strategists and in my experience play two strategists and four duelists was always very successful as long as your two strategists know what there doing it's a very powerful team comp but that just my experience it could work very differently in competitive play
It's impossible to make every comp viable because some will synergies naturally better. Ex. 6 dps will almost never succeed against a 2/2/2 since the enemy can get healed vs the 6 dps who just die.
eh its not really pushing in the terms of tournament play 222 is the best team you can have but in the terms of solo q whatever works to get the win since most likely not everyone is going to use comms and/or know how to play another role
Yeah, role queue is definitely needed. I’ve also noticed that this game forces a 50% win rate by putting you in horribly difficult, or easy matches. It’s become predictable whether I’m going to win a game or not, based on what my win rate currently is.
I think the key is 2-3 Strategist. The Vanguard and Duelist characters have a lot of crossover functionality, so it's more about covering your bases there.
I agree if you can get two strategist your chances go up for sure.
Even more if you can get a tank to initiate.
I can’t believe my team won a game last night of 0-4-2 vs 2-2-2. Everyone was trashing everyone’s picks in the chat and then we won and they were all confused, but the other strategist and I know how it happened 😅
2-1-3 feels amazing if u play 2 healers with high damage output
Loki, Adam, and Mantis are all good for that
Did this but me and my friends did a guardians of the galaxy team. Starlord, rocket, Groot, Thor, matis, Adam.
@reaperxz3ro not even a bad comp, maybe except for Thor diving in alone. Rest honestly works hahaha
i think 3-1-2 is very underrated
I like it a lot but unfortunately I never see it. Hard to get even 2 vanguards in a match
@Drewberry_gaming please cover it and or play test it. My favorite comp and imo clearly better than the challenging and difficult team comps you presented.
@@Drewberry_Gaming facts! crazy how no one wants to tank! I dont mind it at all!
1-2-3, 3-1-2, 2-1-3, and 4-0-2 are all very good compositions as well.
Min 1 Vanguard and Min 2 Strategists is so important for sure.
I think the sweats run meta. Thing is this game has drawn casual players that have never played a hero shooter, but know they love Spider-man and Wolverine. Those are the people you end up with in your queues.
Don't forget Iron Man
Its funny because there have been people whining about how it became the same as overwatch in being 3 tanks 3 healers in only 2 days haha.
So trueee haha. Even when I bring up 2-2-2, people think I’m just overwatch brain dead… I hardly even played overwatch
@Drewberry_Gaming never played it but enjoy this game a lot.
not really, there are barely any people that play tank here, it's either 1-2-3 or 1-3-2. idk the numbers here but from my 30+ hours of gameplay, this has been the majority of the games.
a team tried to do that to me and my friends in pubs and they got absolutely stomped. the GOAT strat isn’t good on this game.
No, not 2 days, it was a thing in Beta as well. The difference here is that it's easily countered.

Warlock’s fully charged secondary head shot into the Peni CC is insane.
BUT I WANNA PLAY DPS! 😡
Everyone of my teammates
I had a game with 3 vanguards, 2 dualists and 1 strategist that we won it was however against a 1 4 1 team comp so that might have been why we destroyed them. Thank you for this!!! I've had several games where I'm a solo Strategist on a team of Duelists. And I cant back out, due to the penalty I'll receive.
I got you! Hopefully folks fill out the team a bit more but it’s not an easy ask 😆
Yeah that’s fair! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in solo queue tho 😆 but theoretically I love it
I have seen 1-2-3 do well, but it depends on how much damage the strategists can do.
2-1-3 ftw, 1 of the 3 being a DPS forward Mantis
ive also had quite a few games that were 0 3 3. i wouldnt say its great but it can work
Yeah I want to experiment with it more. But hard to convince others without a 6 group haha
Yeah I'm good without roll Q. Maybe make a mode just for that.
2-1-3 is fire
This is the way
2-1-3 and 1-2-3 are the best success I've had crazy hard to kill people with 3 competent healers
I see a lot of people say that but in my over 100hrs in this game through tests and launch, I might have seen it like 5 times in solo queue haha
@@Drewberry_Gaming yeah this is true solo or duo q'ing you are not going to find this hahah
Love seeing the content - I miss your Marvel SNAP days, but I’m glad I can follow along your journey to Rivals. Keep doing what you’re doing! Appreciate the work!
Depending on the vanguard 132 is strong.
I've also seen 1 van, 2 duel, 3 sup
That sounds like heaven lol, just 2 duelists AND 3 strategists?! How?!
Ideally 2-1-3
I think the characters matter a lot as well. Peni Parker NEEDS another tank for example.
Yes there needs to be a main (like Strange), and best to have an offtank if running 2-2-2 and not 1-3-2. I swap between vanguard and dps depending on current needs, trying to explot enemy comp weakness.

Thor needs another tank for sure
What about 3-1-2?
Could work! I just never see it, falls under the interesting category with 3-0-3
You would need more then 1 persin playing tank for that. Which almost never happens. 😅
I know you don’t know what you’re talking about because, for most players, Cloak and Dagger can absolutely be a great solo healer with Dagger’s healing bubble keeping up heals in an area if you do need to switch to Cloak. Try solo healing anywhere but bronze and get back to me 🤣

With the current season boost, domination with venom and peni is cracked. Once your team caps the point, good luck to the other team.
Good evaluation. I think 1/3/2 is the only other viable option, but having 2 team compositions like that definitely has a lot of creativity and potential. Nice job on the video!
Honestly I feel like there is alot you could do as long as you have a tank and two healers, thats pretty much the backbone of any team
from my experience so far in ranked 2-2-2 wins far more games than 1-3-2. What about 3 supps 2 or 1 tanks/dps whereas adam is always the third supp paired with mantis and a main healer
I feel like they ahould add a hero limit like max 3 of each class
I think 2 healer. 2 tank. 1 tank dps (like venom) . 1 healer dps( like cloack) is better
A lot of the choices in your random sample is probably influenced by playing Overwatch and other games where role composition is enforced.
What about 1, 2, and 3?
more healers, healing is OP in this game
It's sad, I rly would prefer every comp is viable as they said.
It's impossible to make every comp viable because some will synergies naturally better.
Ex. 6 dps will almost never succeed against a 2/2/2 since the enemy can get healed vs the 6 dps who just die.
Me and my friend playing 4 tank and 2 support won negatif dif imao
1-3-2 is the best imo
One time i win one with a 1/0/5 comp xD 75K mitigated dmg xD
where is 4-0-2 that would be also challanging
Just never see it so I didn’t bother putting it in the board. Hard enough to get 2 vanguards haha
@Drewberry_Gaming you are right. Me in my gold lobbies having 5dps and me the warlock crying cuz im getting dived by 4 ppl 🥰
0riginal f0rmat game still are the balance r0le 👍
How are ppl already “pros” 1:00
There’s been monetized tournaments, leaderboards from the play tests and mostly they’re pros from other similar games like overwatch
Stop pushing this
eh its not really pushing in the terms of tournament play 222 is the best team you can have but in the terms of solo q whatever works to get the win since most likely not everyone is going to use comms and/or know how to play another role
10:34 even the devs recommend it
If you play vs bots, the bots will always go 222, and will rebalance the team if you change roles.
@@JayBhrofor selling a promotion of the game sure, but for competitive devs should be hands off.
was not that common sense ?
You’d be surprised
Yeah, role queue is definitely needed. I’ve also noticed that this game forces a 50% win rate by putting you in horribly difficult, or easy matches. It’s become predictable whether I’m going to win a game or not, based on what my win rate currently is.
Role que is what saved Overwatch in past, feels the same about Rivals.
