To all new viewers: This video will be remade in the coming months along with a few others, covering everything that was in this video as well as a lot more content that was looked over / discovered since. Stay tuned for it!
"SA2 Battle enables [the lighting files] all at once." Surely that means a lighting fix mod for the later ports could be easy to make by anyone who knows how, right?
Thanks for clarifying the difference between "The Trial" and "Trial Version". That explains some things. I found a disc for "Trial Version" when I went to Japan. I didn't know what it was, but even if I did I probably would have passed on it, because it was rather expensive. Also, I didn't realise that Big was in the game because of spite! Makes me wonder why they fully purged him in the Gamecube version, then mostly restored him in the HD releases.
14:28 I once had the theory that they intentionally scrapped it to give the effect of Shadow moving unnaturally, because he's named after a shadow. When someone modded the game to include high poly-after images for all characters, it was discovered that it's simply a bug tho.(Rushed game, am I right?) 23:12 A standout for these lines is the conversation between the president and the secretary after the final boss. Even tho it was only reworked for Sonic X and doesn't appear in the finished game, it still seems to be canon to the games, as his role in cutscenes in Shadow the Hedgehog references the thematic idea behind those lines. I wonder if they were lying around in some sort of lore-archive and were grabbed as reference, without making sure they were actually used in SA2. 26:23 Honestly, considering how the game is actually coded in its final version(That it can't spawn these superhogs outside of final hazard and that it can only spawn them there and no one else), I kinda doubt that these were actually independant features. I think they were meant to be for the coop-final hazard battle and for that purpose, this is actually very complete by default.(With the exception of them not using their intended description.) It just doesn't make much sense why it would have been planned like that and then they waste time to code these specific failsave-exceptions in to prevent crashes for...er, features that were scrapped and made unused due to lack of time? 30:53 Interesstingly, Sonic does canonically go through the stage. By checking the movements of the plot against the worldmap, it's revealed that Tails flying over here is actually a detour and it would only make sense if this is because Sonic travels on-foot due to there not being enough space on the plane, as Amy and Knux would be on it already. This got seemingly confirmed a few days ago(lol, nice videotiming) by Sonic remembering the stage in Sonic Frontiers. 46:09 Dang, that actually looks better than the final version. ...Modders? Can we get this?(At least I don't think there is a mod for that yet) 53:31 Which, despite being overall better than the original models, the SA2B models are controversial for flaws that are kinda dumb in that they exist. They smoothed the Hedgehog-ears, which makes no visual sense, they broke some layering on the mechs so that some detail is invisible and the hedgehog-faces accidentially got inverted UV-mapping(As in, textures are applied the wrong way around), which results in what many people call a shadow-stache. 56:05 Funny that you mention stage diffrences while one of the more affected by them in the background.(And this is a very strange one too. Omochao has lines for finishing every stage while carring him. Most of them are unused, but a few more were made accessible in Battle...including this one. Which is bad, because the line references the fog that was removed in Battle, so the line is obsolete. Devchoices making sense in Sonic games challenge, impossible) 1:00:15 What I think may have kept the translation-misconception alive over the years is the fact that Eggman's mustache looks like it may be fake in the CGI-cutscenes of Shadow the Hedgehog and how it ripped off cleanly without him noticing in the end-cutscene of Sonic Lost World.
my theory for the sky rail thing is tails was flying to the pyramid area considering its right next to where pumpkin hill/sky rail is on stage select as for frontiers tails my have told him idk
Hey, loved the vid, though you missed a couple of things. 1. Big's cameos were all cut in the Battle port. Almost all of them were restored in the 2012 versions except for the Wild Canyon one due to a bug. 2. The intro from the Battle and 2012 ports was actually supposed to be in the Dreamcast port originally, but it was scrapped.
This was probably your best video yet. Loved learning more about another beloved Sonic game of mine! If you plan on continuing this with other games make sure to not write yourself into a corner by making another 1 hour long episode again, for your own sake lol.

Adventure 2 without the soap shoes is cursed
No is great
His feet are so skinny it looks so off
Right
I never realized how much better Sonic looked with the classic shoes instead.

A cutscene overhaul already exists.
Well, I haven't been able to play the game in a few years, so presumably the mod's got better since.
Cybershell approves of the title

I wish games after the Classic era had a D-bug feature. It would’ve soooo cool!

What is the source of the second information?
@@sanglish18 I've heard this be said by multiple people over the years
@@gengargamer5657 Like who? There has to be some reliable source to that, like some developers interview.
@@sanglish18 Honestly, I’m not sure, it’s something I’ve heard multiple people say, and I think I remember seeing it somewhere
mfw when I don't look for a source and just say it because other people have
