    Thanks for the tips! I like how you show the end of the lower lip getting thinner at the corner of the mouth! I feel the same way about spending time sharpening gouges!

      Thank you much appreciated. I own Foredom and Ram power tools, you can do some great carvings with a rotary tool, especially in the harder woods! 👍✌

    A whittling accident won’t ever end a woodworking career but a woodworking accident can ruin a whittling career in a hurry

    • @WhittlingWoods
      @WhittlingWoods  6 месяцев назад

      So true . . . some of my favorite whittles were due to "happy" accidents (to quote Bob Ross). 👍✌

    Where did you learn to carve. Are you self-taught did you take classes read books watch videos Or all of the above. Good job on the video.

      I started whittling about 20+ years ago. RUclips wasn't around, so I picked up a couple books/magazines and started "chopping" wood. Thanks very much! 👍✌

      I didn't grow up with RUclips either. I will turn 65 in a couple of months. I've been trying my hand at this carving for a couple years now and I still have problems. You can tell what it is but it's a little choppy. 😂

    • @WhittlingWoods
      @WhittlingWoods  9 месяцев назад

      @shoey64 @shoey64 I turned 60 a few months back. If you look at the demographic RUclips lists for my "audience," 75% are over 55! I guess us "old folks" know a good thing when we find it.😉 The best advice I have for learning to whittle is to stick with just one or two straight knives and practice rounding out squared off pieces of wood, then learn to use the knife to do what a V gouge does on the rounded wood.👍✌️
