Get a Grip! 😊Do you struggle with opening tight lids like I do? Try this easy sewing project to make a fabric jar opener.
Used to, but now I tap the edge with a butter knife to break the seal. :)
Such a cute idea. Would be fun to make a few pairs using holiday fabrics - Christmas, Easter, spring, summer, etc - and give as a gift that can be changed.
Yes I think great to add into a gift basket and so easy to change up the theme.
What a great stocking stuffer or hostess gift ides!! Thank you so much.😊❤
Glad you like them!
This is a wonderful idea! I use those rubber grippers almost daily so this would be so much prettier to have around, and great for gifts 🎁
thanks for watching!
Great ideas!! Can't wait to make up a bunch of these with my scraps!! ❤
Yay! Thank you!
Way easier than how I've been making mine: using 2 pieces of fabric, fusible fleece, grippy liner, a tab & 2 magnets so it can be stored on the fridge. Thank you for showing me an easier, uncomplicated way ... ❤ Seriously, I drove myself crazy when things didn't turn out right! I wanted to make these as co-worker gifts, but dreaded the process... Now I can make these in bulk without fretting! Seriously, thank you! 🙏
Yes I’ve seen them made with loops and magnets but thought there is no need for an extra layer making it thicker and I don’t hang things on my fridge so wanted to make it as simple as possible. Thanks for watching😊
@@NotchesSewing So, so true ... Very bulky, turning them out & top stitching corners were difficult. Don't know how many times my tabs were crooked or on the wrong side. 😆 Made these to go with microwave potato bags for gifts & people loved the jar openers more because they were so useful. Thank you for everything... 🙏
Will be making every one a set of these for the holidays.❤
I think everyone can use some of these. Their hands will thank you!😊
Very clever!! 👍😊 I've never seen this project before!! Your tutorial ideas are truly practical and useful ... I save some of them to go back and watch again several times. Thank you for another great video!! ❤
Love this. I have so much of that shelf fabric. I actually want to do this for mug rugs.
That makes sense! Great idea for mug rugs.
Hi Angela:
Such a creative and functional idea. Makes a perfect gift. I’m already thinking of fun fabrics to use. Thank you for sharing and inspiring. 💜😎🇺🇸
You are so welcome Joanne! I have a ton of fabric with animal faces, so will be good to use it up making these and the bookmarks. Have fun!
This is so much cuter than the plain square of shelf liner that I use!! Great idea to use up some scraps-thanks for sharing!👍
I was always using my rubber gloves but this is nicer for gifts.😊
Great gadget for Christmas stockings! Thanks for a wonderful tutorial! 😊
Thanks so much 😊
Love this. Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Great idea. I like the print fabric you used. 😃❤❤
Thank you! 😊
I love all your crafty sewing projects. I’m always looking to do something new for my family and friends. Thank you.

I absolutely love this genius idea Angela. So easy to make and a very useful item. I have something similar and I use it a lot. Thank you so much!

Love this idea, thank you so much.
Wonderful idea. Thank you. 💕
Thanks for watching😊
What a smart and useful idea! I seem to constantly have trouble opening jars. I'm going to make some today!
Thanks for watching. My best friend brought these to my attention. 😊
Love this!
Thanks for watching😬
Oooh, I had no idea such a thing could be made! I'll definitely have to add this to future projects. The designated jar opener in the household has lost the superpower over the years. 😅
I know exactly what you are talking about……😊
I love this! I'm definately making some of these!
Love this! Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Simple yet effective! Thank you
You're welcome!
This is a great idea for gifting!
I think so too!
OMG I use drawer liners to open jars but never thought to add fabric! Thank you for that great idea!
Thanks for watching😊
❤ I love this video.

Great project.
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks, nice project.
Glad you like it!
Great idea
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you for this quick and easy to follow tutorial. I had a bit of an issue with my liner having slight tears, likely from the feed dogs. So, I sewed my second one with a lining fabric, which was much better, until I had to top stitch the opening. I like your idea of sewing the diagonal lines, though. It worked for my first one, but I didn't do it for the second one. Maybe my liner is too puffy 🤔
Thanks for watching. Try a longer stitch or a walking foot for puffier fabric
Thank you. I'll give that a try.
Super cute! But I just tap the edge with a butter knife a couple times. Breaks the seal and opens without any force. :)
❤
🤩
I had to use my walking foot so the material fed thru without puckering and for the thread stitch to be even , then it was easy easy. And yes I tried fabric not drawer liner against my feed dogs and it always puckered or stretched and stitching was irregular
You can try putting some painters tape on your machine bed and under your presser foot or use a teflon foot. Thanks for watching!😊
I started making some today I found this particular draw liner hard to sew even with Teflon foot so I am going to try a different draw liner without the bubbles
try putting some painters tape on your machine bed as well
Ok I will try that
Great idea! Is that grippy material washable and dryable? Thank you 😊
It’s washable but I wouldn’t put in dryer
Can they be washed and dried?
washable but I wouldn’t put in dryer.
Love making these simple projects. How much would you charge for these at a craft fair?
Thanks for watching. I do not sell at craft fairs so I wouldn’t have a clue. I’m afraid I cannot give financial advice either.😊
You need to determine your price based on the cost of the materials and how much your time is worth, plus factor in what is reasonable in your area (different areas vary economically). Try selling at what you think is a fair price. If they fly off the shelf maybe raise it a bit. If they languish try lowering it. Also look around at other vendors for similar items to see what they sell for. Good luck!!!
I'm a newbie and I want to know why the stitch needs to be at 4?
Because you are sewing thicker fabrics together you do not need such a small stitch. Also the outer topstitching will look much more professional.
Ok. Thought this was a really cute project. Got everything. Tried just regular material and terry cloth. I couldn’t get it to run smoothly through the machine! I kept having to force it. Lining was not that thick….Dollar Tree shelf liner. Made sure my stitch was 4” like you said. Material side up. Had such a hard time. I am so disappointed 😔. Yours ran through so smoothly. Any suggestions?
you can try putting wide strip of painters tape on the machine bed and under your presser foot so it doesn’t stick whether you sew with the liner on top or bottom. You can also try a walking foot. If you don’t have painters tape, you can also use a piece of tissue paper under the liner, sew together and then you will need to tear away after. Cheers!
@@NotchesSewing Wow, thank you! I will try both these suggestions. Thank you so much for sharing!
They won’t work on my sewing machine and I’m not sure why. They won’t slide through.
I’m using a brother lx3817 machine
Are you using a teflon or walking foot? Try putting painters tape on the bed of machine as well.
