A Piranha with toothache, a pig with sunstroke, a performing dog with an aversion to feet, and a monkey who loves intrusive injections…Take a peek behind the surgery door, as under the weather pets vent spleen in the waiting room.
Nick Park’s Creature Comforts took the classic documentary style and applied it to the lives of wild animals and pets, matching a cast of clay characters with human voices to charming effect. Originating from Nick’s 1989 Academy Award®-winning short film, Creature Comforts was unique for using unscripted vox-pop interviews with the British public in a stop motion series that has become an Aardman classic.
The success of the short film led to two TV series, which broadcast on ITV, and an iconic series of commercials for the Electricity Board’s ‘Heat Electric’ campaign. Creature Comforts also went across the pond to the USA where the unique format was used once again to tell real-life stories from people in America. The claymation characters portray very human traits and contemplate absurdities of the universe such as, ""Do bald eagles ever feel self-conscious?"" and ""What makes pigs feel sexy?""

I always love the detail of the microphone shaking when interviewing one of the big cats.
Not very may people notice that 👌
Along with the empty, scattered chairs and pet carrier.
Also unlike the others it's on the end of a long stick
Lmfao
@@maryrichards157 and the lone shoe next the broken pet carrier.
“I was yellow which was awful” lmao
It also has teeth... :D
I love this show because it shows how much people ramble and complain
It’s so typical of how British people talk which is why it’s so great
@@_ArmIa well I mean it's real interviews that were animated into this!! They interviewed people to make it! So that's why it's so good
Deep down, we are all creatures of habit at heart.
Love the scene with the big cat, all the other patients and owners have run away in a panic and the person holding the long handled mike is so scared they can't stop shaking it
"I never end up doin' anythin' about it."
"And you never shut up about it either."
XD
The bloodhound is my favorite consistent character-he sounds like a well-travelled British gentleman with a simple life, and simple words.
The Bloodhound is called Clement 😁.
British? You mean English.
British/Britain is Scotland,Wales and England
@@julben27He means British as he could be Scottish Welsh or Irish as well as English. Not everybody has regional accents by any means. The dog could be a British Bulldog breed.
@@julben27the credits say “voices of the great British public”, give them a break
Can we just take a moment to salute the quality of the PROPS? I mean, chairs, shoes, bags, magazines... it all looks so real. :D
I can't help replay the first segment with the two birds 'the best effective medicine is.... I have no idea' then follows that infectious laugh! THAT'S IT! IT'S CONFIRMED - Laughter really is the best medicine!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I only just noticed the vet is called Ray Bees 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The details are fantastic in these.
Thanks for that. Didn’t notice! 😅
Did you see the Kitty Viagra?
The whole lioness segment is utter genius in every detail.
7:29
Lov the detail of his funny eye when he says the damage might still be there
Lol! I hadn't noticed that! Genius! 😂😂
2:40 Love the nervous mic. 🤣
I use to love this clips when they were on the tv, they should bring them back.
They've got a new range of trailers featuring various groups of animals discussing their favourite BBC programmes.
They're currently available on the iplayer.
I love Mrs. and Mrs. Rat-lol, the hamster with “mental scars” and the ambient off frame sounds.☺️☺️
The voice of the Hamster sounds like Richard Ayonade before he came to fame as Moss in The IT Crowd.
yes.. and hte way Mr. Rat is sitting cross legged..she contradicts him and he goes silent then says, are we going to row about it now then? lol lol lol.
Nick Park deserves a knighthood.
Animals always sound better with English accents. Love the claymation. Reminds me of when I used to watch Gumby as a kid in the 60’s.
Gumby was okay, but I'm more of a Morph fan.
@@gorillaau I wouldn’t know about any Morph. Gumby was from the 60’s my childhood era.
@@lisanidog8178 Morph was a little later late 70s. Relied on body language as the characters had their own language so unintelligible to us.
@@gorillaau oh.
I love the facial expressions the pig makes.
I love how it’s implied that the Lioness was stuffed into that tiny cage.
And she maybe ate a kid.
And apparently she was not happy about it. 😂😂
You people are effing geniuses. From the clay work to the actual coordination with the dialogue. I have few words except to say well done you all and thanks!!!!
I'd forgotten about these, I saw one or two when they first came out. Always been a fan of W & G, Chicken Run, etc. I lived in the UK for nearly 20 years, and to hear these locutions and phrases and idioms is so charming and makes me nostalgic for what was my second home. It brings out the eccentricities and good old common sense and good nature and skepticism of the British. I'm in awe of the painstaking, frame by frame work this involves to make it so perfect (or just make it at all, really). It would drive me raving mad, so thank heaven we have Nick Park and his team to create these. I can only guess they find it meditative.
Glorious ... just glorious. Thank you.
I love that you can watch these back several times and pick out new hilarious details!
The microphone shakes interviewing the lioness, lol!!!
I really like the lioness' voice, for reason.
So do I! She reminds me of Uma Thurman!
I wanna know what happened to her. Sounds like a lovely person, and I'm sad to know she's got scars all over her body.
But why was the Microphone shaking at 2:42
@@bettyottman1718 The microphone was shaking because the person holding it was scared of the lion.
@@racheln.spaterost2709 Maybe the Lioness might eat the person.
i love all the different accents.
The lioness segments are just utter genius
2:00 'Do we row about it now?' 🤣
5:18
I'm in my 40s and I can't stand getting stuck with needles either.
A trick I learned was to breathe in and out while the doctor sticks me.
Plus, I make sure they tell me when it happens.
William Norton I feel like you should be on the show.
William Norton | I had a bad experience with a flu shot when I was quite young, they needed to hold me down and everything. Had a full-blown phobia of the things ever since. The very suggestion makes me break out in a cold sweat. Many of my nightmares involve an ever-looming deadline for some unavoidable poke.
The silliest thing is, once I realized you can relax the arm beforehand to make it practically painless, I developed a fresh fear for the strange feeling of pressure you feel instead.
When it's absolutely necessary, I find I can _usually_ get by with a good stress-ball in the other hand. I try not to get an appointment booked too far out, though, because otherwise I'm falling to pieces for weeks in anticipation.
William Norton and blow out when she sticks
@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth Sorry, I don't mean to mock you, but I always find it funny how some people can totally panic about an injection. That's so illogical. It doesn't even hurt (unless it's Penicillin). It's an ungrounded fear.
In my case, I wouldn't have any problem if I had to take blood from myself.
@@RioMuc | That's phobias for you. Illogical by definition.
The bit at 1:50 is about the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
I love these so much. I wish I had the patience for claymation since I'm such a sucker for it.
I just noticed the utter disarray of the room during the interview with the tiger.
Have you never seen a tiger? Never saw a "tiger" without stripes before. That was supposed to be a _lioness._
And the shaking microphone because the sound engineer is so scared 😅
Also I love all of the different accents
4:05: "I spent several days smelling like a fence post" Just blew beer out my nose all over the keyboard
"But it did the job!" 😂
Just look at the state of the room in the lion interview!
The cat is right about the Famel syrup - it smells & and I presume, tastes) like TCP. But it did work. Both my grandad & I swore by it. Such a pity it's no longer available
Isn't it? I loved the taste of Famel Syrup when I was a child! I can still taste it - very pungent, bit like acetone.
THE FISH WAS REALLY GOOD
The pig at 7:17 is one of my favourite parts 😂
My fave was the lioness. The disarray of the room, the shaking microphone on the pole as if the team didn't want to get near her, the open carrier on the floor that implies she arrived in _that._ All hilarious.
Utterly brilliant.
I know its not, but the hamster sounds like Richard Ayoade!
I just love these, with all the gorgeous details! ❤❤❤
The (real) cat voices in the background are so funny!
Also, the tentacle reaching out of the transport basket at 4:36 - perfectly explaining the little sound in the background! 😂
Where have these been all my life?? just found these and I love them!!
the one with the flatfish on the seabed that says I like it down here but I'm under a lot of pressure.
Love creature comforts, the animation and the voices are superb
This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
My past cats love my Vet and present two cats love my Vet and my late dog loved my Vet. He’s such a gentle doctor.
3:23, Depressed Hamster strikes again.
Some of the people interviewed spoke about their eye trouble and I have some of my own at the moment:
The frames for my eyeglasses broke, so I must jump through all the hoops of getting my eyes checked and getting new glasses when the worst I needed was some fresh frames.
The Scottish cat 😂😂😂😂
Love all of this, especially the voices.
THANK YOU! It's all been worth it. Love the mic shaking in this and all vids w/lioness. Too funny. Hope many more discover or rediscover all of Creature Comforts!
Why has no one talked about that snake eating the cat in the little carrier next to the bloodhound?💀
What?!
@@readg4fun The background noise in each clip for that dog 0:30. There's a cat meowing for the first few, then there's creaking when the tail appears. :)
I think they're playing with what must have been the interviewee opening a sweet wrapper or moving in their chair, or maybe the cat scratching something in the room like a rope cat tree, and played with it stopping meowing. They must have been interviewed at home, the change in context from what the original interview was probably about sometimes adds to it all. There is added audio, at least I assume there is some, but their creativity when there's 'interference' with the audio recording is brilliant.
The bird finished me off 😂
I'd be that service dog. She's so positive
Brings back old memories..
You have to watch all these at least twice: once while watching the speaker and then again while watching what’s going on in the background.
Something about this is so charming.
More enjoyable if you live or lived in the UK
I have the whole set on DVD. It's awesome.
😂😂😂 speechless...with laughter.
The trembling microphone at 2:44 😅
Great clay doers or whatever theyre called but the pig is my favorite. Great expresion and stuff. I guess its a good subject too that helps
I love this show so much
4:42 uh... There's a long Green Tail.
I like the East Anglian accent of the bloodhound!
I’m from Mexico definitely uk is my favorite country because you guys always make me comfortable when I’m feeling sad or angry
Creature comforts Aardman it’s a fun show from blue pictures television.
Just gorgeous, creating the animations to match those vox pop samples. (I almost said "matching the sound recordings to the visuals... as if they're real!). Pure art and I have such fondness for these (voice and animated) characters and the work done here.
2:44 notice the microphone shaking scared of the cat!
Ooh, creepy green thing!
The vet is Doctor Ray Bees. Lol
The lioness is funny. Actually , most of them are. Lots of verbal wanderers.
This is still brilliant. Love it.
I wanted to see what the thing with the tentacle really was: Cthuhlu?
It might be nice if they did one of these in Chicago so I could understand what everybody is saying.
Thats brilliant! I can't stop watching!
How in the world was that fish animated inside the fishbowl? Must have taken AGES to do each frame!
This just D E S T R O Y S me every episode ... you know to the point I need to dry my face and blow my nose! Totally makes my day! :D
The monkey on the right sounded like Ricky Gervais, kinda looked like him too! 🤣
Lol just what we need now!!☺️☺️
Outstanding! ...as ever.
*I hear kittens mewing in the background*
Wonderful!
5:29 that's me right there!
Brilliant
Love it.
I’m from the USA 🇺🇸 and I find these videos entertaining and satisfying.
Thanks very much! :-)
I'm a sucker for a posh English voice
7:10 'inside my bRaIn'
This Animal Is A Old Horse With A Needle On It's Back 3:11
Jennifer Frick OMG that’s terrible 😨
What was in the cat basket next to the bloodhound? Love CC♡♡
The pig sounds reminiscent of Anthony Hopkins.
2:43 KITTY VIAGRA
I still cannot wrap my brain around the fact that Hamster is somehow NOT the actor Richard Ayoade.
3:27 lmao
😂 the depressed mouse who lives in deptford.
Continued,.. The mouse has since been moved out of (London) deptford due to social cleansing, he's now in Birmingham. 😜
He actually says "CATford"!
2:36 pixar ball.
Good
After the piraña the pig should have had a bite mark on his rear!
This is most relaxing 😌 hearing this
I don't know if it was intentional but the bouncy ball near the circus dogs looks like a green star version of the Pixar ball.
They should had SNAKE too! Would of been even funnier!
The rat’s voice is so calming
0:28 The vet's name 🤣🤣🤣
