They're saying we hate women but nearly every main character other than The Doctor is a woman and we still loved the show. They're saying we hate STRONG women but everyone loved River Song. They're saying we hate black characters but everyone loved Martha Jones. They're saying we hate queer characters but everyone loved Jack Harkness.

@@neko7606 Not everyone liked everyone. I hated Mickey at first but towards the end I actually really liked him. I wasn't a huge fan of Rose for quite a while too, but now I think fondly of her time. Could be that the new stuff is just so bad that all of the old stuff looks phenomenal in comparison.
But generally speaking most people enjoyed those characters. It wasn't because of racism, sexism, or homophobia that people didn't like specific characters.

The OG Star Trek did inclusionary casting correctly. They cast diverse actors and put them in noteworthy positions as main characters, but they never sat around self-congratulating themselves for it during the story. And that's the difference. I loved when alien Abraham Lincoln showed up and was accidentally being out of date, and everyone laughed it off as a 'Yeah we don't care about that anymore,' with more confusion than offense. A world to actually strive for, rather than endless 'deconstructionism.'

Exactly how I feel about people who accuse others of cultural appropriation. Easiest example I can think of is from a few years ago where a young white girl (not even twelve) being sent home for having her hair in cornrows, apparently this upset her non-white schoolmates. I had to actually look this up because until that point I thought cornrows was a “beach hairstyle”, because if ever I watched a TV show centred around a beach locale half the cast, regardless of race, had cornrows.
This legitimately ticks me off because when people get bored of their complaints and say “fine, I’ll try something else” the same people who cried ‘cultural appropriation’ will then immediately cry “why don’t you want to share and love our culture???” Maybe because we already tried that and you had a conniption fit about it?

"White men Doctor Who was never made for you."
It's literally British heritage... Same with Tolkien. Lord of the Rings was MADE to give England of the 1930's their own mythology unique to them.
I'm so tired of this, I really am.
I wouldn't have ANYTHING against Kenya jumping up and yelling. "We want to make our own Doctor who!" and then Kenya itself really makes something that is their own with a cast of Kenyans, that would be hilarious. I would actually watch that.
But this is so much pandering from an elite that really doesn't care, and it's not even about elevating black people it's just about demeaning white people, it's just hate and it is repulsive.

That a crime and a violation of one of God’s commandments. And it’s selfish, greedy and tacky. These people are deplorable. -they went out of their way to push a pro choice message when the lady talked about how terrible it is they couldnt just turn off the babies life support so she could use it all herself, while also pushing an 'every life matters' message with the booger monster.
-not to mention going out of their way to push a message about refugees by having them go to some other random planet when they could literally just land on the planet they are already orbiting, far as ive seen they never explain why they just cant land the broken spaceship on the home planet and instead have to go become refugees on this other one!

Jack Harkness was basically an Omnisexual sidekick and nobody gave a damn. He was charismatic, interesting, a badass and he was just there. What made him special wasn't that he was willing and wanting to shag anything and everything animate or inanimate, but that he was an immortal intriguing character. Diversity always existed, yes. But it wasn't forced down our throat with piss poor writing and with partisan divisive and frequently hypocritical activism as the main point.
Edit: I wrote that midway through watching the video out of frustration from seeing their statement. I'd like to add that on a personal level, I'm glad I stopped watching after the Husbands of River Song. That had such a sweet ending that it felt like Doctor Who ended up a good final note. I'm perfectly fine with that ending of my time with Doctor Who.
Also, I suspect that these people are just frustrated because there's nothing left to fight for. Legally everyone has equal rights. Gay marriage has been legalized in more places. Progress has been steady for equality for all on a legal end and in regards to open doors to opportunity. And instead of focusing on raising the tide for everyone and ensuring that less people are in poverty and in suffering by bettering the economy, the standards of living of all, and focusing on the progress of technology. They moved to wanting to feel special because there were no more social causes to push for unless they made extravagant problems or blew issues way out of proportion, unknowingly creating more enemies for themselves and even reversing the progress that was made before them, all so they can proudly view themselves as martyrs and heroes despite being the leading cause for societal regression.

BUT that leads to #2, the much more important issue: How am I supposed to enjoy a story that was created for the purpose of spiting my entire existence? No, I don't hate unconventional characters, opposite actually, but a relationship, ESPECIALLY a healthy one, is a two-way street.

it did, it did. It blended horror and comedy quite well with the gas mask zombies only being able to say that one question. The scene where the doctor turns into one was quite jarring Then the comedy with how the doctor was able to get the zombies to back off by telling them. "GO TO YOUR ROOM!" "those would be horrible last words." Then the emotion beats where the doctor finds out this was all because a kid was caught in an accident and the nanobots just wanted to help, but they didn't know what they were working with. So the final thought with the kid just wanting to find his mother being set as the prime motive for the zombies. With the doctor happy, probably the happiest he's been in a long time because no one died, "EVERYONE LIVES!"
      now we got booger monsters.

When the coffers eventually run dry and no one is left to support them, will they reflect upon the path they took that led to this outcome? Or will they once again throw blame upon those they deemed the enemy for daring to have an opinion that failed to perfectly align with their own?

As a straight, white guy, I know for a fact that there are way more types of people who loved Doctor Who over the 60 years it's been around. Hell, my best friend is gay and I know for a fact that he hates being pandered to. He hated what Iceman has become in recent years. He said the change in Iceman's sexuality could have worked if they actually wrote it in a way that made sense and didn't have Iceman do a complete 180 on who he used to be. Pandering to a smaller audience and disregarding the original audience has never gone over well for any company or entertainment I.P.
I started watching Doctor Who with my best friend back in 2012. The "Blink" episode. After that, we watched up until the 50th anniversary. I decided to watch the classic series and finished it in about a year and a half. I became deeply ingrained in the show and the lore. I gave up on Doctor Who during Jodie Whitaker's era, because everything was so boring and lame. And when I found out that they completely retconned the Doctor's backstory, I knew the show will never be the same again. The Timeless Children made irreparable damage to the show and now, it's just like almost every other franchise that I've grown to love throughout my life. Star Wars, Marvel, Star Trek, Disney, etc. All of them decided to put representation front and center and not good storytelling

I’m a straight Black dude and I’ve been watching Doctor Who since the 1980’s. I never felt left out because the Doctor wasn’t Black. Watching this new season I can’t help but ask “This guy was the best you could get?” Just because I’m Black doesn’t mean I am applauding this casting. I was optimistic at first but then when I saw his photos and mannerisms, I just shook my head. I’ve seen his first three episodes and don’t see this getting any better.
I would have loved if the producers had casted a strong stoic actor like Idris Elba to play the Doctor. Mr. Gatwa is freaking downright silly and his comments to the old fandom are seriously counterproductive. Oh well call me when the Doctor regenerates.

It is nice to hear a woman say exactly what I, I straight white man, have been saying about Doctor Who all along since the first Jodi series. I have dated lots of women who loved sci-fi, Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who included. I think you are right and that modern Doctor Who might actually have more female fans than male. I went to a Doctor Who party about ten years ago with even some of the guys who do the voice acting for the Doctor Who audio books present and there were a lot of women there, not just men. I never thought about the two actors who played The Mistress and The Master recently as playing The Doctor, you are right, they would have both been excellent to cast as the actual Doctor. Missy would have been way better than Jodi, and the South Asian Master would have made a great version of The Doctor. It is not the race or gender or sexual preference of the actor that makes the show, it is how they portray the character and how good the writing is. This current series seems like an adults only late night comedy parody play version of Doctor Who that you see as a live show put on by drag queens, not actually Doctor Who. I never even noticed that kiss from Captain Jack until you pointed it out because it fit so naturally in with the characters and the show. I even enjoyed watching the entire Torchwood series featuring Jack, because it was good and not about virtue signaling, just about having well-written characters and good stories.

This show was never made for ‘straight white men’ it was to tell a sci-fi story of an immortal time lord alien dealing with other aliens and I remember watching it with my sisters growing up, not once did I feel it was made for straight white men.
It’s definitely sad that nowadays shows are trading in good storytelling for tokenism 😢

Attacking the audience and fans is a classic Disney move. This is literally why Disney is one of the most hated corporations on the planet today. New Disney Doctor Who only drew in around 2.5m viewers which is half of even Jodie Whitaker Who which was previously at a low of around 5m. "Normal" Dr. Who historically attracted around 7-8m viewers. Excluding viewers by attacking them has BACKFIRED badly!

"Don't ask questions. Just consume product, then get excited for next product." This is about way more than making a political statement, but simultaneously way less. The fanbases (and some of the people actually making this content), see things like shows and video games as art. But giant mega corps most certainly do not. The only difference to them between Dr. Who and a can of soup is margins. They don't want critiques or engagement, they just want you to buy. The fact that they can hide that behind emotional and moral manipulation is just the newest tactic. Why make something good when they can make garbage and paint detractors as the villains? If you're not buying, then they make you seem unreasonable so others will think buying is the correct decision, or at least think getting upset is the wrong one.
