  • Here I show you guys how to work Tapestry and Mosaic Crochet together. Mixing it up a bit and using 2 colors in the same row to get extra colors in certain parts of your design. I use this technique in one of my newest design, the GLERBROT pattern, so this video is espeacially aimed as extra support when working that pattern. You can however use this same techique to add extra colors to any kind of mosaic crochet patterns.
    I've put on a little promo special offer for the pattern, 25% discount if you use the code: VIDEO, when purchasing it on Ravelry. I'll let that run until end of day September 1st, 2023.

    Wonderful Tinna, I love your technique. For me I have always wondered how the weaving of the yarns at the back of your work would be incorporated into the whole project and keeping it very neat.
    Not seeing it on a video has always confused me and after not getting it right I would actually stop making the project. After watching you I will have to get some yarn and try out this current pattern and make a blanket for a neighbor. Thank you! For showing us your technique and making it look easy! Tinna.❤❤❤ ❤❤

    Thank you, Tinna! Both the intarsia & tapestry techniques are something I have not tried yet. I remember seeing a piece worked by one of your testers in the Fb group a few years ago (maybe Jui or Sue?) where she had taken one of your patterns and did these phenomenal color changes and I'd never seen anything like it. She said it was the tapestry crochet technique and I fell in love with the look right away. It really can transform a piece from beautiful to exquisite with just a few simple steps. I appreciate you taking the time to share your wisdom. Love & hugs

    Many thanks for this, and all your videos!! You are by far, my favorite instructor.
    A question if you don’t mind!! Because you’re carrying the yarn will those sections be ‘tighter’ than the other rows where the yarn isn’t carried along?
    I’m wondering mostly for using the dual techniques when making hats where stretchiness is more important? Thank you for any advice on this!!

    • @TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar
      @TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar  Год назад

      Yes, they do get a bit thicker and if you don’t take good care to let those strands on the backside to not be too tight, rather just a tad loose, then you’re good. It’s sort of like when you do fair isle knitting, if you’re familiar with that 😉🩷

    I’m Pretty new to mosaic crochet and I’m wondering if there are patterns that show you when you can fill things in with lil splashes of color or do you make them up as you go?
    I hope this isn’t a silly question.

      Not a silly question no, but I don’t put it in my patterns where to do the colors and not. I just leave that up to you. But you could just follow the photos and copy mine 😉 I included a complete photo of my blanket in the pattern as well as two other cooorways … those were made by my team leaders of testing, Jui and Sue, and when I think about it, Jui’s is probably quite specific. She’s more organised than me 😉😂✨

    It's a lovely pattern, and fun to see the different techniques working together.
    A bit off the topic of the current video, but I've been wanting to get into mosaic crochet, however a very silly thing has been holding me back: the foundation chain. I am all over the place with long chains and for other crochet projects I tend to go with a chainless foundation row instead, but I haven't really seen it used in videos of any of the mosaic crochet YTers I've watched. Would it work for mosaic with the obvious deduction of the turning chain from initial counts, or would it interfere with something/require a pattern to be started a few rows later than otherwise? Having watched a number of your tutorials (you have such infectious enthusiasm) paying close attention to the first few rows I think it wouldn't affect anything as you appear to do ordinary single crochets into the chain, which should work out the same, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask in case I'm missing something non-obvious.

    • @TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar
      @TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar  Год назад +1

      Thank you 🩷 and yeah sure! Chainless foundation row is just fine, so now you can’t use that as an excuse anymore love!! 😉🤣🤣😎 go go go, give it a try now! 😘💥

    Tinna… can’t you carry the yarn behind the double crochets also? I don’t understand why you don’t, but of course, I’ve never done this before!

    • @TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar
      @TinnaThorudottirThorvaldar  Год назад +1

      I guess you can, but I don’t like to do that because I feel you can always see where you work around it and in my opinion it just does not look good to do it that way. Maybe some other peoples do it like that, I just don’t know.
