I once received a package from Uzbekistan that came inside a linen casing which was sewn shut around the bundle. My address had been written on the linen carefully and beautifully in waterproof black ink and the whole package was secured with strong hemp cord and A WAX SEAL!!! NEVER HAVE I FELT MORE SPECIAL than the moment I broke that wax seal! It was so exotic and ancient an experience I felt transported back in time by centuries. I had ordered something mundane from eBay and this is how it was sent to me! Glorious!!!

For your viewers - just don't try sending those packages with string through the mail! These days the packages will get caught in modern machinery. I like to leave the seal in the wax until the wax is completely cooled to get a good impression, love the extra drops! I'm gonna try that - also don't send wax seals through the mail, they will break, put the letter in a padded envelope and write 'hand stamp only' and hope for the best! Best wishes Rajiv!

Even when you are using tape, I think your tip of crisply creasing the edges is key in present wrapping! It not only makes it easier to wrap (the paper hugs the object just like you said) but those creased edges will make even the most weirdly shaped presents look neat and tidy, and will make a regular shaped box look positively professional. I think it's my favorite wrapping secret!

I think silk flowers could be used if fresh aren't available. I learned to bring wet wipes when scrounging antiques. The most satisfying element of this video is the sound of the sharp scissors when cutting ribbon. I'm a geek that way. I think I would use sealing wax on the folds of a large present. Are you using new stamps or old? They looked new. Old used stamps are cheap and would be perfect for gift packages. Now, which video is next? I love your soul...it's a beautiful place to be...

Vertical writing is a skill. Writing in Chalk is a lost skill and it's harder than it looks. Because it catches and changing directions is difficult so the fluidity with which you write in cursive bordering on calligraphy is so impressive.

Hi Rajiv, I believe the 3 ostrich feathers image on your wax seal is the heraldic badge of the Princes of Wales. Historically the badge goes back centuries, but based on the stamp handle yours seems to be maybe 18th century? Look to see if that's a crown at the base of the feathers to confirm. It's difficult to see the rest of the image. I can't tell if those are swords flanking the coat of arms, and all I can see is what looks like an "E" in the actual wax imprint. It would make sense that you got the seal in Germany given the family roots of some of the British Royals. I'm sure one of your museum friends or curators could help with research. The seal could be representative of an official role within within the monarchy such as a groundskeeper, royal guard, stables, etc., or it could be specific to a person within the Royal Family. It might make a really interesting episode to trace the history of your seal and see if you can unlock the mystery behind it!

Thanks Rajiv, I alternate between brown paper with white ribbon and white paper with brown twine. I did have a year when I got a great deal on black chalkboard paper and used red ribbon. Great video, thanks and Happy Holidays!!!

Please Rajiv, show us how you make your soap. I make my own soap too, but so often it gets soggy in the shower. I get strong rashes with all the commercial soaps and as I know how simple it is to make your own soap at home in large amounts for little cost for all the family to use, even my little baby, just need to know how to get the correct proportions. Please; please, please make a video about it. You present everything always so elegantly and with style, yet simple. Love your videos.

Rajiv, The timing of this video could not have been more perfect. It was so fun to watch you explain even the small details in packaging. I do perfect folding of gift wrap but then use plastic tape to secure it😢. From now onwards, its forbidden😂. Thank you for teaching that.
Your artistic skills cover a gamut of topics. Can you please do a video how you spend your normal day/weekdays and weekends? Like what time you get up, go to sleep? Do you meditate everyday? How many days a week you go to gym?
It will give everyone an idea to manage time effectively.
Thank you for sharing all the wonderful ideas you have with others. You're as precious as diamond and emerald which are my favs😅. Wish you Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year in great health, wealth and peace. Love from Florida...

What a wonderful segment. Not only am I inspired to use wax and a seal, I learned some history, too. Your mention of seals on a document regarding Henry the VIII, sent me to take a gander at the Vatican's archive. Also, your antique seal with ostrich feathers, prompted me to investigate its symbolism to royalty. Thanks for exposing me to new ideas.

I had a brown paper roll and cutter and the paper lasted for years. Sadly the cutter is no more - moving country a few times meant it went ... somewhere. But now I use the brown paper from the grocery store bags, and I tie up with string. They look lovely under my wooden Christmas tree, waiting to be given. So much nicer than commercial Christmas paper, which usually can't be recycled because there is a plastic coating on it to make it shiny.

Rajiv, I love your channel, I found it a few weeks ago. When I use a printed tissue paper to wrap a gift, I like to line the print paper with a sheet of plain white tissue. That way the print paper is sharp and clean, without the print showing through underneath. Keep up the great videos, and have a wonderful blessed Holiday Season.
