The math here is flawed, one person infected can repeatedly go into a room and infect dozens every time who in turn could do the same as is happening in Italy , herd immunity is a high risk strategy that would definitely kill off millions of elderly people or individuals with underlying respiratory health issues but maybe that’s what the government wants to save money on pensions etc , people who worked hard all their lives or served their country in foreign wars are to be sacrificed to the God of Mammon by ruthless, diabolical faceless bureaucrats in government.

Oceallaigh Kly I immediately thought what you have said, today we learn eleven people have died in 14 hours, what we are not being told is how old these poor people were, we are told geographically where they died, that's all. Your Pension theory gets my tick as well, how dare someone think that us OAPs deserve to be wiped out at one of their Cobra" meetings, who is responsible for that. What's to come, invitations for Voluntary Euthanasia in return for my Pension.

The math is indeed bogus and only eugenics freaks and psychopaths could even suggest such and idiotic response to an epidemic. Any fool can actually work out a more realistic scenario where less than 50% of the population survive if you factor in a total system collapse.

Herd immunity assumes that the most vulnerable in the population will be protected from the infection by isolation.

THE EXPERTS ARE GETTING MIXED UP. 1. IF YOU HAVE A VACCINE VACCINATE EVERY ONE. 2. LET PEOPLE BECOME INFECTED AND BECOME IMMUNE . THREE 1. AND 2. TOGETHER. AND I WONDER IF THE PEOPLE THAT HAVE DEVELOPED AN IMMUNITY MIGHT HAVE BLOOD THAT COULD BE USED TO HEAL THE LESS RESILIENT ....

VACCINATION IS NOT THE HEARD IMMUNITY IDEA THAT THE UK GOV WERE PROPOSING . 1. VACCINATION IS A MAN MADE IMMUNITY. 2. HEARD IMMUNITY. IS THE NATURAL IMMUNITY THAT ANIMALS MAY OR MAY NOT DEVELOP AFTER GETTING SICK.

I figure out that UK government seems honest for admitting insufficient of NHS resources and beds for their citizens (an inconvenient truth for telling citizens the current situation indirectly). It seems UK government is more responsible for giving advances notice and true warning to his citizen (only you are able to figure out the PM's wordings underneath) - stockpile sufficient food and medical resoruces for at least 12 weeks and respond quick - Good luck.

Now imagine that with virulence of covid-19 one person can infect 55 other persons and also imagine that all of these people are drinking beer at the same pub/concert/etc

UK seems using the "Herd Immunity" strategy for fighting against COVID-19, even it works, every nation's other than UK using containment strategy would be afraid of UK people.... like how Spanish brought disease and killed most of southern America in history. UK will turn to completely isolated to the world by this policy (because you are one of the carriers and immunited but other nations are not). What is the expert opinion and effectiveness for human as whole when some nations follow herd immunity strategy and some nations follow containment strategy?

One way or another everyone will get this and heed immunity will occur.
The question is what do you do to slow it so we dont have all the medical staff and facilities shut down.
Some have gone for max shut down.
Boris seems to contradict himself every 24 to 48 hours which is less than comforting.
I have no idea what we should do.

When you get it it doesn’t mean you will forever pass it on to others. You either die or develop immunity. Once immune you aren’t a danger to others. It’s actually the reverse of what you say.

Maybe the herd theory. is joe public needs protection from the governments feeding off their hard work.Herd theory does nothing in protecting people ...It a case of get it and if you live ...You be immune to it....So that theory is trash ...It the theory of will a person survive this attack on their body or not...Yes or No...

Math does NOT work. In this example each person can expose 4 others. So by the 3rd step we shld hv 4x4= 16 exposed. Nxt step 16 x 4 = 64 Final step 64 x 4 = 256

    This whole model is flawed.

    • @brianho6625
      @brianho6625 4 года назад

A model is trying to mimic real situation,
It tries to represent something "may" happen. It needs to setup lot of boundary conditions in many different situation in a good model. So whether the model is flawed or not depends on how you understood the boundary condition at the first place.
