- ET visited the set of ‘Addams Family Values’ in 1993 and Christina Ricci gave us a behind-the-scenes tour in-character as Wednesday Addams! Ricci takes us inside the Addams Mansion, and she points out where she and Pugsly can usually be found getting into trouble.

Christina Ricci played the hell out of Wednesday. Tbh no one else could as far as I know especially in a live action movie. I would love them to come back and show them all grown up and do like a little tribute to Raul Julia in the movie.

Agreed, minus the cheap sets. They were hardly decorated in the film and the sets were less grand and large scale.

It's probably sourced from the original betamax tapes, which were a standard for commercial broadcast use and actually provided pretty high image quality for that time.

I really don't understand why this video came out only now after almost 30 years?!
In my mind, they are the Addams Family. I cannot imagine another family in these roles. When I was told as a kid, Raul Julia had passed, I remember thinking that there would never be another movie. Their synchronized energy as actors truly brought them to life. It was magic! I also thought the Values movie was such a fantastic sequel! It had a great juxtaposition from the first. Lastly, watching this clip makes me also appreciate the craftsmanship of the set. They don't make them like they used to!

I have watched all of the addams family movies/cartoon/show...and i am still a fan of the one where Christina portrayed as Wednesday. I think she and the character matches perfectly.
So if you feel jenna or whomever that played Wednesday was better. that's good. If you feel Christina was not any better. Well, thats good for you too...

Well Tim Burton has signed on to do a remake of the Addams Family, so whoever gets the role of Wednesday has big shoes to fill, nevermind the rest of the cast.

I think the girl who played Wednesday in the black and white series was really good. Lisa Laurel I believe her name was. She is just so cute and tiny until she’s not, and that is something I love about her, but she has passed away now. The two of them are like two different versions of Wednesday Addams. In the black and white version she is more like in the original pictures where we see her play in unusual ways and smiling at twisted things, while the newer versions focuses more on this almost emotionless Wednesday. To be honest I like it better when she at first acts like a normal kid, and then shows everyone she is an Addams, but you can have your own opinion on this.
Ricci played a perfect Wednesday. The sneer on her face while she electrocutes Pugsley in the film is absolute perfection.
Both movies had a rare convergence of perfect actors/characters pairings, not gonna lie (as every aspects of the movie, all the team did a marvelous job!)

I would have stopped by, but I had a run in with an old Colleague from Arkham Massachusetts, fascinating fellow. Claimed he could bring the dead back to life. Shame I didn't tell him to stop by, he could have been such friends with The Addams.

She might get her chance very soon. There's already a new TV series in the works, and it's about Wednesday as an adult, and it's set in 2020. They could easily make is a continuation of the two movies from the 90s, which were also set in the 90s so it would be perfect in every way to have her reprise her role for it.
@@elsa7594 you know, that could work too. In the 90s movies, the original Gomez from the 60s series played the father of Raul Julius' Gomez. It would be like tradition. However, the next installment in the franchise is about an adult Wednesday in 2020 so it would make more sense for her to just reprise her original role as Wednesday.

Jenna Ortega is a great Wednesday in her own right. I can’t say that one’s better than the other. Jenna’s version of Wednesday is well suited for the TV series (Netflix). Jenna fits well with her Addams family. Christina Ricci fits well with her Addams family.

So sad that actor Raul Julia passed away mere months after this movie was released…. otherwise I’m pretty sure they would’ve done a third film with this amazing cast. I would’ve loved to see Christina Ricci play a teenage Wednesday.
From what I read, there were, in fact, plans for a third film, but those plans were abandoned after Raul's passing.
He actually passed after he filmed Street Fighter in 1994, that was his last movie and he said he did the movie for his kids who were fans of the game 🙏🏿

I loved the new Netflix show but Ms. Ricci gave me the vibes. I liked how Jenna and Ms. Ricci portrayed different versions vibes of Wednesday. 😊
different version is one way to put it. Riccis portrayl was with murderous glee whereas ortegas was stiff and emotionless. Though, its hard to put that on ortega, because the show is just written so bad. Alone the fact she is surrounded by supernatural people makes it hard to stand out. Imagine they've stayed in highschool. There would be much more ortega could play off of. Then theres also the cringy dialog and desperate attempt to be iconic and memeable
@@fetB It's funny how different you think than me. I actually think Jenna is showing more emotions than Christina. And to me she stands out very much. I like other characters as well but I'm mostly interested in what Jenna (as Wednesday) will say next. And that dancing scene was perfect. I might have to watch an Addams movie (with Christina) again so I can be reminded about how good she is. They both did a good job portraying their versions of Wednesday imo. 🙂
@@Readysetgo2007 you know what, someone else pointed that out and i agree. She does show a lot of emotion for boys and even random people that get hit by a car. Riccis Wednesday wouldnt care and would have that evil smile on her face during the hit and run, for example. But like i said, i dont put this on Ortega as shes hired to do the job, like the others as well, and imo, at times looks like they didnt like the script either. Mind you, its fine to have the whole twilight and riverdale thing going, and i personally enjoyed Sabrina, but then again, thats in character. The way the show runners made the new wednesday is just totally out of character. Sure they make a few one liners and references, but it seems like a chore to them, or as i mentioned earlier, purely designed to be quoted. The show left me honestly very disappointed and frankly bored many times.

I love how Christina stays in character for this Behind the Scenes-tour.
I'd love to see a 3rd film with the original cast back, and the plot revolving around a new family moving into the house next to theirs that either hates them, or is a similar copy of them, with the father being a widow and wanting to be with Morticia. Because she's "In morning" after Gomez's passing, she won't allow this new man to try and swoon her, but he tries anyway, much to the disdain of Wednesday and Fester. This leads to disastrous hilarious results!
A third film in the Paramount trilogy was prepared before Raúl Juliá died in 1994. Since literally no one could play Gomez like him (not even, sadly, Tim Curry), the project was scrapped.

The skill of the people who build those sets is amazing... I know its all wood and paintwork but it's stunning, mesmerizing to look at!!
I’m just sad at the big budget cuts in the sequel. The sets are nice but nowhere as grand and macabre as the first film which had a more opulent grand staircase and larger sets with a full scale shell of a mansion for exterior shots. For this film there’s hardly any decorations and minimal furnishing. They used a model for the exterior house shots and went a little overboard on how dilapidated the interiors were, as opposed to the first where it was still a grand mansion with more patina, slightly run down but still much nicer as it reflected their old money.
I absolutely love Christina Ricci in this movie! She was also amazing as Lizzie Borden in The Lizzie Borden Chronicles! She was born for that role, too
