My desire to visit your country hasn't waned and I hope to be in the first flight out once the borders open up. Anyway, I really liked this topic about modern Israel history. I had fun discussing this too with my Israeli friends and it's a topic I'm not only interested but also passionate about. I hope that when I get there I would be able to meet and discuss more Israeli history with you.

  • @rf8481
    @rf8481 3 года назад +2

    The most important event in the history of Israel was the purchase of Dimona nuclear reactor from the French during the John F Kennedy presidency. The Israelis became a nuclear power during the Cold War. Under Bibi, the IDF has acquired a nuclear triad with Dolphin diesel-electric submarines from Germany such that Israel can now truly defend itself against any 1st strike by Iran although the notion of winning or defending against a nuclear strike is rather irrational and insane in and of itself. The reality is that one does not want a despotic terror regime like Iran in possession of nukes or chemical or biological weapons as we have seen that their ally, Assad in Syria has no qualms or reluctance whatsoever about using chemical weapons on civilians.
    Strategically, Israel is the de facto power in the Middle East and that is why the Russians and Americans cooperate with the Israelis on so many different levels, most of which, are not discussed in public media.
    The amount of coordination between US and Israeli defense and intelligence communities is as great or sometimes greater than that between the USA and Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand ( the traditional stalwart allies of the USA). The fact that Israel is a democratic society and that Israelis speak English so fluently effectively makes Israel a de facto cultural and economic and military ally of the USA even though Israel is not a NATO member or a member of any other formal military alliance with the USA. In fact no nation on Earth enjoys greater bi-partisan support in the US Congress than Israel. This is the most remarkable achievement of Israel since it birth in 1948. It is as politically popular in the US Congress as is California, New York or Texas.
    To say then that Israel punches above its weight diplomatically, economically and militarily is the biggest understatement. The reality is that the DIA, CIA and NSA depend on a steady diet of Israeli developed HUMINT and SIGINT for much of their insights into ongoing regional and trans-national security threats.
    IDF Unit 8200 in Israel however is the de-facto HI-TECH incubator for Israel and it is the mandatory IDF service for most of Israeli society that is perhaps the top reason for the success of Israel economically. This is quite different than in the USA where the DIA, CIA and NSA depend not on internally developed resources right out of High School but on civilian graduates from top universities, most of whom have never served in the US Armed Forces. Because everyone in Israel (other than Ultra-Orthodox and certain Israeli Arabs) are compelled to serve in the IDF, it is the single most important common denominator for Israeli society and such IDF service opens many doors for professional relationships which develop into careers and business ventures that promote the growth and strength of Israeli society.

    8:24 You talk in your video about the "long , strange and weird connection between the German left and the Arabs". This is indeed something very strange. The kidnapping of the French airplane in 1976 was very shocking. To separate jews from non jews was the same, that the nazis did. And the newspapers or TV didn't talk about this, I have heard about this terrible thing just 10 years ago! You said, that you will make a video about the relation between the left and the Arabs. Oren, during the Entebbe crisis the German terrorists separated initially the Israeli hostages from the Non Israelis. There were a total of 4 non Israeli Ultra orthodox Jewish hostages from Belgium/ USA who were put with the Israeli group. I believe there also was a non Jewish French citizen who was resident in Israel who was part of the group. There were a number of Non Israeli Jewish hostages from USA etc who were allowed to leave with the rest of the Non Israeli non Jewish Hostages. In addition there was an Israeli duo national who managed to " hide" his Israeli citizenship and used his non Israeli passport to be allowed to leave. Of course we are all grateful to the brave Air France crew who insisted they remain with the predominantly Israeli Jewish hostages.

      @@Travelingisraelinfo I agree with you about trying to avoid mixing politics with topics like tourism&travels as much as possible. But, you know, we're living in a world "affected" by too much information, where a certain worldview has undoubtedly and unfortunately gained the leading position - or, better, has been "promoted" with a more effective strategy. Here in Italy, for example, our media speak about Israel every time there's a victim on the side of the "weaker", but if a Jew is brutally murdered by someone who has been taught to kill since he or she was a child, not one of the mainstream media cares about it. That's why a staggering number of people by default blame your country, if they don't come to hate it altogether. Doing something to help people change their minds for the best is not politics, in my humble opinion. Rather, it's promoting the truth. God bless you, Oren!

    The next time you go to the middle east, you can visit the Jordanian Black Desert. The most interesting part is located in the Governorate of Mafraq. There are very interesting ruins and geoglyphs there, dated 8,500 years old. They can only be seen from satellites from the outer space and high altitudes (planes, drones and helicopters) and they are awesome as the lines of Nazca in Peru. Archaeologists don't exactly know nowadays what they represent. These ruins really represent embryos of several species in different stages of development and will be able to shed light on the origin of the human being and our planet.
