Star Wars needs resuscitation, not reboot. And they can easily make a new saga that takes place thousands of years before or after without any changes to the OT timeline. I'm tired of the Skywalker family tbh...
1000% Star Wars needs to move hundreds of years into the future. As interesting as delving into the Old Republic would be, those stories would only lead into all the same old stuff we already know (the Jedi, the Sith, blah blah blah…). A jump forward would completely free the story up to go into any direction that doesn’t lead to the same old same old.
They'll never reboot Star Wars because part of the acquisition agreement is that Disney can't touch the stuff that Lucas worked on, ie the 7 movies and the Clone Wars. Beyond that, rebooting would be a disaster because it can never be better than the original films and it'll always be compared to them. A part of the charm of Star Wars is that its a massive galaxy and not just the Skywalkers but if you really want to use those characters, just recast and tell the story of what happened after episode 6. What they should actually do is stop working within this divisive era and do projects in the Old Republic. Image a Revan trilogy starring Keanu Reeves, a Knights of the Old Republic series starring Timothy Chalamet as Jayne Carrick and a Darth Bane trilogy starring The Rock. That announcement alone would reinvigorate the entire Star Wars franchise.
You've somehow managed to find the three least emotive A Listers in all of Hollywood, my guy. The Rock would definitively kill any last interest I have in Star Wars. And I was an EU books dude... Never once, anywhere, ever, has it been stated that Lucas had any kind of rules or caveats or agreements with Disney about ANYTHING. So why you and a bunch of other autlstics seem to parrot this so much is hilarious. Never once has that been stated by anybody, not Disney, not Lucas. All Lucas has ever said is that he gave them the rough outlines of what he wanted his sequel films to be and that they completely threw them out because they were "Impossible to film." (Go read what his ideas for the sequels were it was absolute trash, spider leg Darth Maul, Leia being the chosen one and being the one true Jedi, Darth Talon being alive after 400 years.) Lucas even has a quote about how Disney stopped calling him or caring to consult with him at all because they didn't like any of his ideas. Jon Favreau and Filoni are the only reasons that Lucas gets anywhere near a Star Wars property now. He has no say in anything. George may regret selling it all now, but at the time in 2012 Lucas was tired, fat, and old. He was over Star Wars, he has literal quotes about how much he disliked the fans and hated the fanbase from the time period. Saying that Star Wars fans were "Horribly vitriolic and unfriendly" He was ready to move on with his life. In his own words from 2012 "Selling this to Disney will ensure that my movies live on forever. They will introduce them to an entirely new generation that I would never have been able to. I just don't have the energy to devote to more Star Wars."

Not sure how to make it relevant without making it corny. I think it'd need to be a new story. Like SCUD waking up today.
There's no reason to remake Star Wars. At least not the original trilogy. Reboot everything since then, with the original EU. Although, I did have the thought of doing a shot for shot remake of the original trilogy to bring in new stars, in the format of a tv series, and tell the rest of the story. Some background on Luke, Han, and Leia. Also Biggs. That story would probably contradict Rogue One. Then what happened at the end of the ANH? Where did the rebels go? Why are they just settling in on their new base on Hoth in ep 5? The story of how the Bothans got the plans to the new Death Star. Is it really a new Death Star, or the original prototype?
We don't need an explanation for every second of every day for the characters which is what people seem to think is needed. That's essentially what the ol EU books were and it got a bit ridiculous when we had hundreds of books leading up to 70 year old Han solo punching armoured mandalorians in the face
Captain Marvel had a bit of "girls get it done" energy that seemed a little annoying and very out of place considering the character was supposed to have amnesia. The first wonder woman made that character come off as way more likeable, which is a little disappointing since Brie Larson is definitely a better overall actor.
@@BaithNa Brie Larson gets harassed and has for around 6 years now because she's just an unlikable person in real life. But definitely leave that shit for now, Hollywood needs to stop rebooting things immediately a failure happens
I would absolutely completely avoid a reboot of Star Wars, it would completely destroy any hope I might still have that they get their shit together in the future and start making good stuff again. Matthew Vaughn is completely missing the point of Star Wars.
I don’t want a complete MCU reboot either. It shits on what RDJ and co did for the past decades.
I feel sorry for burrs wife and kids 😂
Mason just pitched me and Mrs smith 59:36
DEFENDERS!
Let's be honest, we could remake the original SW movies way better now. Do it!
501 not out boys!
❤❤❤
WOW. Around 1:15:00 I got introduced SCUD the disposable assassin with the Sega Saturn game. Read rhe whole Schebang too. Love Scud.
I think it'd be a good show but it's sooooooooooo 90s. Not sure how to make it relevant without making it corny. I think it'd need to be a new story. Like SCUD waking up today.
Star Wars doesnt need to be rebooted xD people are crazy. Its cinema
Delays but Hoorays?
i love exploitation and murder in my comic book movie podcasts!!
Left a Like for McDonald’s Birthday Cake purchased then thrown on the grown in front of children.
FAAAAAACK yes man
There's no reason to remake Star Wars.
That's on the writers though, there's no reason for people to harass and target Brie Larson when she was just doing a job.
@@BaithNa Brie Larson gets harassed and has for around 6 years now because she's just an unlikable person in real life. She comes off as obnoxious and narcissistic and overly antagonistic at pretty much every live speaking event she goes to.
If it's not her saying "Wrinkle in time wasn't made for old white dudes." its her saying that "Women are forced to sit through movies with male leads, so males shouldn't complain about having to watch Captain Marvel." Or it's her getting asked about the Captain Marvel sequel and responding with some snarky trash like "Who cares? Does anybody even care if i'm in it or if a sequel gets made?"
Lets point out Vaughn said we needed a new epic thing and then says lets redo star wars. Lmfao this fuckin guy.
You're saying Star Wars wasn't epic in its scale and popularity?
@@scarlettNETYes, well no. Maybe. It's definitely not New tho. 😂
@@scarlettNETby definition, it's an epic because it's a very long story
Star Wars is so diluted and tarnished as a property that a reboot is just going to kill it. Just make a different sci fi thing at that point
Why is it "what are we reading today" and not "what are we reading this week"? perhaps it's time for an update
The Karen parents in Old Dads are very much real and heavily represented in California private schools.
James is kind of being a hypocrite. He regularly complains that studios focus too much on brands, and then dismisses gargoyles because it’s not a BIG enough brand. 🤦♂️ giant walking gargoyles could be amazing, regardless of how well James thinks ppl know it beforehand 🤨
Yeah that's fair, like you said at least they're giving other things a shot. I don't have much faith in them supporting it in any way post release
Brie Larson doesn't want to do super hero movies anymore? Oh no, that's terrible news.
Is that like a personal attack
First
I'm afraid the Frasier in the reboot might just start Jordan Peterson-ing all over the place.
THIRD
How about we retire Star Wars altogether and we can move on to something new? Remember all the wonderful new things we got in the span of 1983-1999? No Star Wars in that 16 year period
Wow it's almost like you can do both old and new things...
Of course you can not like somebody. But if your reason for not liking them is bad, you might get not liked in returm.
It's it me or did they seem a bit confused?
Whats up with Leo playing racist villainous roles?
Sadly we cant have more good things like Andor cause people are stupid
Reboted star wars is the worst opcion they could have, wich givin that they f up all otger opcions is the only 9ne they have left
How patetic
Did your subhuman ass just spell option wrong like that, twice? Like you actually think that's how it's spelled?
I want to like these directors but they show their pretentiousness when trying to dunk on Marvel or Star Wars. Sorry your movies never peak as high just get over it.
The last thing this world needs is a Jesus movie 🤮
Lily Gladstone should have been on the thumbnail🥲 I could not look away while she was on the screen. She IS everything
