@@Terrible0x0Trivium Yeah because George's idea for a sequel trilogy was absolute trash. He wanted all the remaining Imperials to hold up together on a planet and just refuse to surrender "Like the Iraq war" whatever the hell that meant, since George Lucas is still to this day obsessed with George W. Bush.
He wanted Darth Maul to come back with giant spider legs with Darth Talon??? as his apprentice and that Talon (Who was a character from 200 years before Darth Maul was even born) was supposed to be the "New Darth Vader" and be Mauls servant? Implying Darth Talon had just been alive for hundreds of years for no reason and with nobody knowing. Just for her to then become Darth Mauls apprentice when she's 300 years older than him AND for Darth Maul to become the galaxies biggest crime lord????
He wanted Leia to kill Darth Maul and Talon and for her to be elected Supreme Chancellor, Luke to build a Jedi Temple, and for the story to end with Leia actually being the chosen one. Lucas wanted it revealed that Anakin AND Luke weren't the chosen ones. It was Leia.
Complete and total dumpster fire trash from George Lucas.

Really? I felt like the Osage people were so underwritten. It almost felt like the best and most interesting characters weren't given much play. It felt like the Osage people were just background to a (really good) mob film. Those particular scenes are powerful, but crafting the narrative the way they did robbed some of them of their power, especially the ending.
The long take of Leo on the witness stand really hammered home to me how much I feel the film was a character study of a man who wasn't very interesting.
Oppenheimer was much more powerful to me. Which is insane. A Christopher Nolan film had a more solid emotional throughline and made numerous characters more memorable than a Scorsese.

I would never have wanted a re-tread of the original trilogy... until Andor.
I desperately now want the original but *from the Rebellion's perspective*
All the hard choices that have to be made, all the organisation, all the endless amounts of people working together burning their life for a sunrise they'll never see.
You know how people make jokes about Luke being overconfident in ANH, like when he's a bit of an ass about hitting the death star's weakness (size of a womprat)? Andor for the first time really made me feel that, like why are we watching everything from some farmboy's perspective that just gets to coast by on years of everyone else's labor by joining an attack at the last minute and by getting close to the emperor in the end through nepotism lol.
I do obviously love Luke and the original trilogy of course, just trying to describe how Andor for the first time made me see the potential for a great story from a different perspective.
Basically keep Andor going even after Rogue One without it's namesake.

@ungreatfulduck750 there's a difference between being inspired by thing and directly copying shots, which is what Leonne did.

1000% Star Wars needs to move hundreds of years into the future. As interesting as delving into the Old Republic would be, those stories would only lead into all the same old stuff we already know (the Jedi, the Sith, blah blah blah…).

They'll never reboot Star Wars because part of the acquisition agreement is that Disney can't touch the stuff that Lucas worked on, ie the 7 movies and the Clone Wars.
Beyond that, rebooting would be a disaster because it can never be better than the original films and it'll always be compared to them.
A part of the charm of Star Wars is that its a massive galaxy and not just the Skywalkers but if you really want to use those characters, just recast and tell the story of what happened after episode 6.
What they should actually do is stop working within this divisive era and do projects in the Old Republic. Image a Revan trilogy starring Keanu Reeves, a Knights of the Old Republic series starring Timothy Chalamet as Jayne Carrick and a Darth Bane trilogy starring The Rock. That announcement alone would reinvigorate the entire Star Wars franchise.

Never once, anywhere, ever, has it been stated that Lucas had any kind of rules or caveats or agreements with Disney about ANYTHING. So why you and a bunch of other autlstics seem to parrot this so much is hilarious. Never once has that been stated by anybody, not Disney, not Lucas. All Lucas has ever said is that he gave them the rough outlines of what he wanted his sequel films to be and that they completely threw them out because they were "Impossible to film." (Go read what his ideas for the sequels were it was absolute trash, spider leg Darth Maul, Leia being the chosen one and being the one true Jedi, Darth Talon being alive after 400 years.)
Lucas even has a quote about how Disney stopped calling him or caring to consult with him at all because they didn't like any of his ideas. Jon Favreau and Filoni are the only reasons that Lucas gets anywhere near a Star Wars property now. He has no say in anything.
George may regret selling it all now, but at the time in 2012 Lucas was tired, fat, and old. He was over Star Wars, he has literal quotes about how much he disliked the fans and hated the fanbase from the time period. Saying that Star Wars fans were "Horribly vitriolic and unfriendly" He was ready to move on with his life. In his own words from 2012 "Selling this to Disney will ensure that my movies live on forever. They will introduce them to an entirely new generation that I would never have been able to. I just don't have the energy to devote to more Star Wars."

Although, I did have the thought of doing a shot for shot remake of the original trilogy to bring in new stars, in the format of a tv series, and tell the rest of the story. Some background on Luke, Han, and Leia. Also Biggs. That story would probably contradict Rogue One. Then what happened at the end of the ANH? Where did the rebels go? Why are they just settling in on their new base on Hoth in ep 5? The story of how the Bothans got the plans to the new Death Star. Is it really a new Death Star, or the original prototype?

@@BaithNa Brie Larson gets harassed and has for around 6 years now because she's just an unlikable person in real life. She comes off as obnoxious and narcissistic and overly antagonistic at pretty much every live speaking event she goes to.
If it's not her saying "Wrinkle in time wasn't made for old white dudes." its her saying that "Women are forced to sit through movies with male leads, so males shouldn't complain about having to watch Captain Marvel." Or it's her getting asked about the Captain Marvel sequel and responding with some snarky trash like "Who cares? Does anybody even care if i'm in it or if a sequel gets made?"

Star Wars is so diluted and tarnished as a property that a reboot is just going to kill it. Just make a different sci fi thing at that point

James is kind of being a hypocrite. He regularly complains that studios focus too much on brands, and then dismisses gargoyles because it’s not a BIG enough brand. 🤦‍♂️ giant walking gargoyles could be amazing, regardless of how well James thinks ppl know it beforehand 🤨

How about we retire Star Wars altogether and we can move on to something new? Remember all the wonderful new things we got in the span of 1983-1999? No Star Wars in that 16 year period
