I can’t imagine what Denis Villeneuve will do after his Dune movies. His imagination has no limits. He truly has become one of my all time favorite film directors!
The imagination come from Frank Herbert and watching David Lynch masterpiece. Blade Runner 2049 was not a patch on the original. Ridley Scott, a proper visionary. Villeneuve is making sequels. I am waiting for his one movie to be remembered, it will come but it needs to be a world he creates.
@@Harlock2day Watch more films from Villeneuve before talking out of nowhere. The only sequel he directed was BR49 and it was closer to the source material than the Ridley Scott film.
@@Harlock2day BR2049 is nothing like the original film and His Dune is waaayyy better than the garbage lynch made (comes from a big david lynch fan)
@@neillewis2577 I think Targuard meant that the source material is a novel, "Do androids dream of electric sheep"? BR2049 is a solid piece by itself, but obviously it relies heavily on it's predecessor in style. I really like them both.
@@Harlock2day Just seems like you don't know his work
The energy that the entire cast and Denis have with each other in EVERY interview and on every red carpet is a joy to see. An experience like this really ties you together. I sincerely hope they will return for part two, they seem like a family.
So true! Also Timothee Chalamet inspired me to win multiple awards for my film: ruclips.net/video/nSC4ptU79-8/видео.html
Yes! I thought the same! which is refreshing when there are so many directors who aren't like that.
@@jessica5497 They have done a years worth of promotion together in a effort to get this film seen in theaters. That brought the cast together.
@@eshowoman true but he had the same chemistry with Amy Adams and they barely did promotion together because he was recording Blade Runner, so I believe it's in the Director's personality as well.
denis seems like a good dude
I love Denis, he’s a genius filmmaker and everyone of his movies have been incredible, but he never comes off as pretentious in interviews. He’s just a guy that loves film and making films.
From a fellow citizen of Montreal, Denis Villeneuve is a genious! Thank you making this legendary story to screen!

@@indomitablereasoning2875 cool song
I'm stunned by Rebecca Ferguson's beauty
And her accent accentuates her beauty.
That fierce look is so attractive
Wait...
As am I. She's a beautiful creature ;)
As a teenager in the late 90's she used to be in a Swedish soap opera and she was the only reason I'd occasionally watch it lol. If you search Rebecca Ferguson Nya Tider you'll find pictures.
I am just going to say that Rebecca's performance was the most memorable.
I agree, I was most impressed with her performance as well. Though I think everyone was good. I didn’t see a weak link really. Leit Keynes was kinda so so, but that probably because they didn’t spend much time with that character.
True but this interview shows her as being a very arrogant person. I do not like that.
@@Tom-sd2vi like how this interview show her being arrogant in any way? lol too much projection.
@@Tom-sd2vi ???
Everyone better watch this in theaters if they can
Here in France he release on Tuesday, can wait to watch it on Imax 🔥🙌🏼
Sadly can't watch it in theatre due to lockdown. So I've ordered a projector. Gonna project it to be at least 70 inches wide, use my Bose headphones for sound, and of course have a bowl popcorn ready. It ain't the real deal, but at least it will be something.
100%. I saw the first 10 mins on IMAX. It was beyond Epic.
The thing is that we dont have a premiere date yet for Latin America.
I'll go watch it today
Rebecca Ferguson’s interpretation and/or understanding of the gom jabbar is so phenomenal, I love the way she summed that up.
Too bad she's been bad-mouthing Frank Herbert in interviews, or so I've read.
@@kipo1456 the book and even her character.
It kills only animals!
@@kipo1456 She's been accusing his books of treating women in a bad light as it was written in the sixties. She also mentioned in the same interview that she hasn't actually read any of the books so.....yeah.
@@vanzahn Strange, considering how easily Jessica takes down Stilgar in the book (and the Fremen were much better fighters than even the Sardaukar, who were supposedly the best). In other words, she's strong as hell. But of course, Rebecca wouldn't know that, since she didn't bother reading the book.
Rebecca Ferguson was by far the best part of the movie, her portrayal of Jessica is fantastic
as someone who never read the books. I was in shock to see such an amazing characther she was so strong and she dared to put his son on danger many times to see him grow. Damn best characther in the movie personally
@@v44n7 She had no agency and they casted a adult man on purpose so it wouldn't look sexist for him to have to protect his mother (it would look sexist if they casted an actual 14 year old boy protecting his mother). He told her when to drink water and that she must do the desert walk to avoid sandworms. He drove the ornithroper and saved her by telling the bad guy to remove her gag. He also fought a duel in her place. It's a common thing in patrarchial films where teenage boys have more agency than full grown adult women (Power of the Dog for example). I didn't read the books either but I know this is not a female character with human dignity.
She had no agency and needed her child to save her on more than one occasion. Also, she cries like a 5 year old most of the film, and none of the men around her emote. She was by far the most annoying character I've ever seen on film.
I wanted to get rid of her myself by the end of this train wreck of a film. If you can't show that it's ok for men to emote, then at least don't show the only main woman being the only one to throw tantrums like a 5 year old. It's insulting to anyone with human dignity.
All the actors in the movie were great but Rebecca Ferguson stole EVERY damn scene she was in. Absolutely Incredible
She was phenomenal. Great actress.
unbelievable More bro.
I’m glad Rebecca Ferguson is getting her due recognition. I remember seeing interviews for Mission Impossible where she was kinda treated as the nth wheel of the group, cuz she wasn’t as famous or with as big a fanbase etc. but she’s a dedicated actress, and so far its pretty clear she never shows up phoning it in. She’s very casual about it too, in a humble way.
If we don’t get a part 2 I am going to cause a riot. I just came back from the pre-release in theaters and it was truly beautiful!
I live in Italy and the movie came out yesterday. I'm going to watch it again today cause I literally want more. It is that good!
I’m definitely going to watch it again.
@@gored_bamer what I like about the film is that it stays true to the book. often they make a film based on a book and they do things differently and you're thinking: " noo! it wasn't like that in the book!" and you wonder why they changed the story. why not just follow the book?
We will crowdfund it :D
if they don’t adapt all the books I gonna cause a riot.

look at his brows, he's surprised that she wanted to work with him so badly. he's so humble, such a true artist.

he is, I love his work so much.
Blade Runner 2049 is the most beautiful film i ever watched
Así mero brodel
I love Rebecca Ferguson. She's beautiful, intelligent, and most important of all, her enthusiasm for being The Lady Jessica in this series, is infectious. I thought she was perfect in Dr. Sleep, and she's going to be a great Lady Jessica. She understands character trajectory, and momentary choices that affect the overall outcome, which is most important to this film.
I hope they give Lady Jessica a hat in Dune 2
Watched DUNE in the cinema last Friday night together with my wife and kids (15 and 12). We all loved the movie and can't wait to see part 2 come out. This movie is an EPIC experience that needs to be watched in the cinema!
man i love denis' chemistry with his actors, so fun
she is so beautiful! 🥺
It was the best cinematic experience I ever had while watching Dune.
The first time I saw Rebecca act, I thought she looked exactly like how Jessica was described in the books. When I saw she got the part, any worry about the movie melted away.
This movie was AMAZING. The sound design is the best sound design I have ever heard in any more ever. Please owe it to yourself to watch this in cinemas, it is a true experience visually and audibly. Hans Zimmer might have done his best soundwork, and the movie itself is breathtaking.
Stop. I'm too excited already
As a huge Dune fan, I agree. Only problem for me is it's too short. I hope part 2 will be longer once the producters see that we love these films.
Gonna watch it on IMAX this Friday! Super excited and even more so after reading your comment :D
I have the original novel but didn’t have the time to start it yet. Would I be able to watch the film first?
@@BJKD24 I know the books very well and I did bring a female friend who knew nothing about Dune, we loved the film. She noticed that some things were left out of the film but she enjoyed it anyway. So yeah go for it!
Lady Jessica is such a role to play. She created the only resolution to the deadly feud between House Harkonnen and House Atreides possible by giving birth to a boy - hoping he would be the Kwizatz Haderach. In so doing, she unleashed a war that would run through the galaxy: her final look at Paul in the last shot of the movie shows her grasp of the magnitude of consequence her decisions have made. She goes from relief at their living in 'safety' in the desert to seeing Paul as the Unknown in her stare. It is a masterful touch and I admire Rebecca Ferguson's depiction.
Just watched this - absolutely amazing movie. Rebecca Ferguson is incredible as Lady Jessica - PLEASE MAKE PART 2!!!!!!
Rebecca: "On purpose ??!"
Denis: "Mais NON! Accidental!"
Haha I love how genuine his reaction was 🤣
Saw it Spain just a few days ago. Epic film, so worth to see it in theaters...Support this movie, we need part 2 people!
Stupid question but did you watch in Spanish or subs? Just curious!
I love how she recognizes that by having Paul, Lady Jessica wreaks havoc on the universe. It's a very important point, a subtle counter-point to the trap of thinking this is a white saviour story. It's not. It's the opposite.
well said
Not by having him, but by teaching him all that she knew and by giving him all this power (despite of the fact that it was forbidden to do it since she had a son and not a daughter).
@@annab9994 :) I'm pretty sure "having him" is a prerequsite for teaching him and giving him anything, but yes, her position in life and the choice to have a boy created the biggest issue in the universe, and it was her love for the duke that was the reason. This is a story where love almost causes the downfall of the entire human universe. Ouch.
@@annab9994 Well, if we go by the book, Jessica's main mistake was to conceive Paul as a boy rather than a girl, messing up the Bene Gesserit plans and let their planned super-human (the Kwisatz Haderach) be born early & unready. But I like that the film emphasized the importance of Jessica's teachings.
A counterpoint to the whole "white savior" thing is that paul isn't a savior. If the people making these claims watched the film or read the book they'd know it. But I digress.
There's something really special in good actors, something captivating, they're otherworldly to me. Rebecca was so good in this movie, I recognized myself in times when I was really desperate and sad and then I thought, my God she's acting. It was so real, how she expressed all the emotions.
Denis has such a respect for the notion of “Mother” it’s incredible. Mother country, Mother Earth, creation vs destruction.
And you can see in so many of his movies! Like Incendies or Arrival as well
just don’t mention The MCU
Dune 2has officially been green lit! Cheers to Denis for creating a masterpiece, we love your film!!!
Look how Denis lets her speak. Love this guy and all the movies. Thank you.
I love how passionate everybody is about this movie, the cast, the fans, it has a really good vibe. I can't wait to see it.
I don't remember celebrating an Artist from Quebec as much as Denis since Celine Dion.
Tellement fière de son progrès et que malgré l'ampleur de ses projets, Denis n'a jamais oublié son identité d'artiste.
Denis Villeneuve is a freaking national treasure. I will always remember the arrival and BR 2049.
I watched this is the theaters yesterday and it was one of the best film experiences ever!!
When she got casted I haven't actually even heard of her but immediately saw she's the one
Such a graceful beauty and demeanor
Watched Dune yesterday in Ukraine. It was phenomenal experience
The one dislike is from Baron Harkonnen.
No, it was Feyd. Lovely Feyd.
Second is from Rabban.
Seven dislikes are from the Baron, Rabban, Feyd, Piter, the Emperor, a Harkonnen soldier and a Sardaukar.
@@speedisoftheessence You're terribly mistaken. One of the dislikes was actually from the slavemaster Feyd had bumped off, just before Feyd got to him.
One was from Thufir Hawat for not having their backs firmly against a wall
Loved the movie, never read or saw the original until last week. Loved it pls make part 2 ASAP of course with Lady Jessica Ferguson.
And here we clearly see Rebecca´s reaction and her true feelings to the rumors that she thought Dune was Sexist in its essence. It simply came from a lack of understanding what Dune really is about, and she is not afraid to admit this.
Another reason to think twice when one reads something.
Yeah and for people saying its a "White savior" story don't know that its more like a deconstruction of the white savior than anything.
She also admitted to having never read any of the books and yet believes that the narrative is inherently sexist. Her words.
Yeah once you finish the books you definitely see that's not what's going on there.
@@aybekaya I've only ever seen the '84 movie and read wiki articles on certain aspects of the story, but that was enough to see that this narrative is far beyond most prior established tropes. Its a shame its taken humanity so long to mature and be able to accept these complicated and paradoxical ideals.
Even Paul's visions in the tent hint towards his fate in this movie, and I'm sure a lot of people overlooked that scene's meaning. I mean, we literally got the plot of most of the story there.
For me Denis is the best visionary director , and also a very good person , with love and big heart
One of my favorite director's 🎥
A man who has read Dune for the last 40 years gets to direct a movie adaptation of the book itself. Yeah, it will undoubtedly shatter the ground.
Ferguson was brilliant as Rose The Hat, projecting an immense presence of supernatural power & danger without doing much. Perfect for Lady Jessica.
Rebecca should get an Oscar for her performance. Outstanding!
It would be amazing! I’m so happy for her! Love her since Dr.Sleep
I think so too
GO SEE THIS IN THE CINEMA! it's phenomenal and perfectly tailored for the big screen but incomplete without a part two, and that's only gonna happen if it does well in the cinemas
She was an excellent pick for the role! Even as a man I literally felt the pain in her as a mother in that scene.
I would love to see it in 3 parts. Great rethinking of the visual and deeper emotional range seen out of the actors compared to the previous 2 renditions. Great work hope we see more.
Guys go watch this movie at the movie theater! We really need PART 2. What an incredible movie, you just get lost in it cause its so impressive and well done.
Rebecca Ferguson is what I imagine when I hear the word "radiant"
This woman oozes intelligence, sensuality, seriousness and infantility, sort of incarnated perfection in a way
Rebecca is actually hilarious.
Watch this movie in the theaters. It’s absolutely stunning. Next level of movie making
Definitely want part two!
Her “Can I ride a sandworm”
Him “Actually you do”
THATS DOPE LOL
I definitely want to see a part 2.
I watched it last night. I have read all six books twice. I think he did a wonderful job. I hope he gets to make more Dune movies, I really hope he does.
Give me part 2 now!!! Part 1 was AMAZING
With how well the film is doing so far, I think part 2 is definitely happening
I had no idea about Dune, I didn't know about books or earlier films but now I WANT MORE!!!
"Actually you do!" That was a great way to finish the interview!
You’ve got my vote for part II and I haven’t seen part I yet… !
"Can I ride a sandworm?" And Denis said EXACTLY what any fanboy of the books said in their head right at the same time, "Actually, you do." Awesome sauce!!!
She’s the best thing in this movie
She is so beautiful.
Can't wait for Princess Irulan.
Anya Taylor Joy👀
Yes, we loved it! Please make part two!
I think this is the most relaxed I've seen Denis. He's actually pretty funny!
I haven’t sent the movie but she is the perfect casting for lady Jessica.
Why? She had to have the cast explain the book to her like a child and then went on to complain about feminism issues because she had no concept of how highly regarded Jessica or women were in the books. Good actress but no idea what dune was about
@@yeahnowhatever4164she is the perfect casting if I base my opinion on her look, her prior performances, and her general aura/personality. If what you are saying is true, then sure, her lack of understanding of (or disdain for) the source material may show through in the performance, I haven’t seen the movie.
Francesca Annis fit the role of Lady Jessica far better
She got offended after reading 20 pages of the book. Worst casting evah.
Her performance in the movie is spectacular, best performance in the movie, and everybody in the cast is good.
Definitely deserves a nomination for best supporting actress.

Denis Villeneuve is one of the true directors in our time.
The second movie I've ever watched twice in the theaters, the first was Mad Max: Fury Road.
Two high budget masterpieces of last 10 years
This was my second as well, my first was Terminator 2
I will not fear, fear is the mind killer. Fear is the little death. So good
It totally sucks that they didn't let him make both parts at the same time. We'd have them both by next summer. Now we'll have to wait 3 years minimum. Typical Hollywood...
Someone should have locked in Denis and everyone for 5 Dune films. Covering the first 2 books and the wars in between. Or at least a super high budget series.
this may be a good thing, provided that part 2 will be made. There is a time jump in the novel that may be conveyed more believably after all actors have aged 3-4 years.
@@icksbocks it didn't seem to be a problem when they showed Paul's visions of the future in the trailer. It's a little obvious CGI but nothing that can't be overlooked. (the blue in blue eyes and a bigger body).
How many directors get this opportunity these days?
Two years, part two is happening!
@@SJPace1776 yep. Minimum three years before we actually see it. Christmas 2024 I'd wager. If they got it out in summer 2024 that would be amazing.
I just saw the movie and it's fantastic. There had BETTER be a second film!
I already watched it twice and will definitely watch it again for four times in cinemas because the movie is that good, and to fully experience denise's visions it's important to watch it on the big screen. with that being said, I really hope we gt to see PART two!
I want to see some LOTR treatment to the future Dune Blu-ray series = extended edition, separate discs of behind the scenes footage, the works.
Dennis doesn't release director's cuts to his movies. Maybe we could get deleted scenes or his commentary throughout the film
