Yep, this is one of the songs where the PSP sinned Tbh, some say the PSX songs are the best, but I say that both have incredible flaws, downgrades and tremendous virtue reparted arround
The original Playstation was home to some very classic and iconic games, but they also had very unique, experimental, and downright some of the funkiest soundtracks in existence. This track really drives that point home. Ridge Racer, Tekkens 1-3, Ace Combats 1-3, Final Fantasies 7-9, Gran Turismo 1 and 2, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, Resident Evils 1-3, Silent Hill 1, Einhander, Xenogears, Kartia, the Persona 2 Duology, Kaze no Notam, and this game really show off the prowess of the PS1s 24 channel sound chip as well the switch from cartridges allowing for more higher quality instrument samples. Truly a masterpiece.
The tempo of this track makes trudging through hordes of suicidal birdwomen bearable. Same applies to many of the tracks in PS1 P1 for the whole game, if that's the case. Each version's tempos complement the gameplay speed of the games and whatnot, but I wouldn't mind having this on the PSP version. This soundtrack is too magical to be left behind. Maybe one day we'll get another remaster that does it all the justice it deserves.
This song is oddly unique for no reason. I’ve never felt this emotion from a song that sounds so familiar. This song feels almost like nostalgia anxiety
the sonic cd energies are strong with this track and i love it another reason why i love this track is that it feels like an evolution in the style of dungeon music that devil summoner (1995) had

Not sorry for saying it, this is far, far, FAR superior to the PSP AST in every....single....way! Do not get me wrong, I like Meguro-san's compositions, I feel he's an awesome composer in his own right, especially for Persona 5's God-like OST which is just incredible. However, his arrangements on the PSP version of Persona 1 were a dark mark on an otherwise excellent career as a composer. He shouldn't have touched the soundtrack, and let it be. Atlus botched it big time when they allowed that to happen and didn't at the least give us an option to switch back to the original. I couldn't bring myself to buy this game when it was on store shelves because the arrangements were so bad in comparison.
meguro really did fucked up with the soundtrack, even tho he did work in the OG ost in some songs, he shouldn't have touched it for the remake, is the main reason why the game didn't sell, even in japan

Hidehito Aoki was such a god tier composer for MegaTen. Absolutely heartbreaking that he passed away.
Couldn't have said it better.
May he rest in peace. His music is one of the things that made Persona 1 so special.

This song is banger, too bad I didn't get to listen to it on the psp version.
To think this was released the same year as Super Mario 64 and Super Mario RPG (two games that had absolute banger OSTs)
That and Persona 1, Super Mario 64, and Super Mario RPG have really similar instrumentation in their OST's. So 90's, which is really cool.
Koji Kondo, Hidehito Aoki, and Yoko Shimomura all casually creating the best VGM you'd ever hear in 1996.
Really good.
Wishing newer Persona Fans would give the older ones a try. Personally I think the Story Makes persona more enjoyable than it’s Gameplay or Visuals.
