I wish they just remixed the original music like they did with Persona 2. You could’ve updated the original tracks while still trying to appeal to a more modern audience.
Thankfully, there’s a ROM hack I think of the PSP version that swaps out the new music for the original soundtrack, which is cool. Totally agree, though. Persona 2 had a better way of handling the music, imo. The PSP OST isn’t bad per se, it’s just kind of out of place and doesn’t always fit the vibe of the game. That’s one of the reasons I find the entire series’ soundtrack so magical: The jiving of the visuals and soundtrack, and it’s kinda…weird for the PSP version’s OST, maybe just a me thing.

You can play P1 and P2 Innocent Sin on PSP or PS1 emulator. For P2 Eternal Punishment, it hasn’t been translated yet so you have to play it on PS1 emulator.

The jump from P5 to P3/4 was very jarring for me, so I couldn't imagine going straight from P5 to a 1996 dungeon crawler. Keep in mind the Persona/SMT gameplay isn't the type that gets better with age, as each game is slowly refining the formula. The farther back you go, the clunkier everything is going to get.

Easily one of the best songs on the original Playstation. Signaled by the “Let’s Go!” at the start, this theme is brimming with energy. It blends those infectious orchestral hit melodies with mesmerizing electronic soundscapes, straight up Eurodance. The bassline is catchy and funky, the strings play these long, intense high notes, and the breakdown at the end is superb. As arduous as this dungeon can be, this song makes up for it. Fun Fact: The "WOO!" Vocal Sample is taken from "In the Morning Time" by Tramaine Hawkins. Ridge Racer 1 and Scud Race also used the exact same sample.

I kinda like how PSP's Kama Palace has that sad, bittersweet tone to it that reflects the story about Harem Queen pretty well. But damn, this version is such a banger that beats PSP's one anyday.
I'm glad I discovered the PS1 OST before playing P1. Which led to me patching the OST and the PSP game went from mid to fukn great from a simple OST change.

A PS1 disc(the medium for PS1 games) can handle up to 700mbs on a singular disc A PSP UMD(the medium for PSP games) can handle just under 2gb. To be more exact, it’s 1.8gb. There is literally no way they couldn’t have fit the entire PS1 OST with sound effects included on the UMD. There’s also the fact that they were able to do the same with the Persona 2 remasters so there’s not really any excuse

I can understand why the battle theme and the boss theme are more, for lack of a better term, upbeat than the other themes, as they're meant mainly to hype you for battle. But why is this music that wouldn't sound out of place in a fighting game used as the theme for a massive ancient Egyptian tomb? Out of context, this theme is clearly better, but the PSP Kama palace theme is better in the context that they're used in.

Amazing dungeon theme, terrible dungeon. P1's soundtrack was certainly better made than the game itself
I've noticed with ATLUS games, the worst dungeons have the strongest themes. Sector E from Strange Journey and Chinatown from Devil Summoner
