I have a theory/thought process about the saying "The next BTS" I think there is actually a chance Katseye will be the next big thing since it kind of feels like something new but made in such a high quality that it makes me so excited to see their future (not saying they're like BTS but rather they have big growth potential) Is there anyone that agrees?
As a predebut stan, I agree with your assessment of Babymonster. The girls are crazy talented - it might even be the most talented 5th gen group. But they can't reach their full potential because it feels like YG is just stalling them, waiting for Blackpink. No shade to Blackpink either, I've been a fan for years. It's not either of the groups' fault that they're being treated like this. BM deserves to have its own style and personality, and frankly just better songs. I loved Forever and Like That but I struggle to connect with their singles. They're okay and I hum them sometimes, but something is missing. And they need to retire those repetitive, empty choruses. I hope that once BP is back, the company can finally focus on Babymonster's unique identity.

I personally feel like illit has one of the best debut EP’s in female kpop. Their vocals, chords, chemistry, chereo. And just overall aesthetic is fresh. And unlike newjeans I feel like illit goes in more vocal heavy compared to newjeans which is my opinion considering illit vocals are dreamy to listen to which newjeans dosent really go for.

And when you said they dont have a unique concept, yg girl groups have been known to have the gril crush/ baddie concepts, so babymonster, being one of yg's groups, is definitely slaying. In fact, all of the 7 are all rounders, so the group has a LOT of potential, they might even go to coachella in a few years ❤
