Merv Hughes told Alan Border during this inning “This little prick is gonna score more runs than you AB”.
He was right.
You remember where did you pick the quote from? Add a disclaimer as that's the right thing to do.
@@vinniche what do you mean add a disclaimer? This is a famous quote by Merck Hughes, If you google it you will easily find the source. Click the below link to read it.

@@vinniche he already wrote that Hughes told Ab.
Sachin's backfoot punch & straight drive were probably the best in Cricket History & it will remain best throughout
Oh . . Those backfoot punches
And a shot a friend called ..a “phatka”…referring to to the SQUARE DRIVE off the back foot (not the square cut., mind you)..the sort of shot Allan Lamb specialised in.
What Mr. Chappell said very true and noticeable. Tendulkar age, pitch condition & his tremendous adjustment. Hence he is God of cricket.
Tendulkars totl intnl 100s: 100
Ind won : 53, lost : 25,draw/ tie: 22.
Team Indias ultimate match winner.
True
👍👍
Do you mean win when you said tie.
FYI, your data is wrong
I remember reading an article in sportstar at the end of the 1991/92 series about Tendulkar. in that article gavaskar had predicted that Tendulkar would score 15000 test runs and 40 centuries at the end of his career.......he well surpassed that. !
Test record: 51 Hundreds with about 20 90's and 40+ incorrect dismissals.
17000+ test runs
@@gtanj That's a bit of an exaggeration.
@@cheesemccheese5780 If recorded, verifiable facts are exaggeration, I don't know what to call you.
@@gtanj lol. I must have touched a nerve. Please show me some evidence that sachin was out wrongly 40 times and I'll admit I was wrong.
that shot of Sachin sir which Ian sir is talking about where he goes on the backfoot and just punches it, there's no follow through..is also my favourite shot of Sachin sir.. true masterclass act..
He played this shot against Wasim as well. Absolutely brilliant
This really illustrates how intelligent Ian Chappell is. Not just the subject matter, but his whole manner.
Superb innings by sachin, those days he was the only hope for india when playing abroad. Not a lot of people get 2 100's in their first series in Australia. Sachin did that as an 18 year old. This innings was special because it was at perth and also he didnt have a lot of support. India were 8-160 odd and he had a partnership with kiran more and they took india to a total of 270 odd. So people blaming sachin here for india's loss don't know that cricket is a team game.
Virat got 4 in 4 700 runs avg - 90.
Don't be foolish now the Pitches in Australia became flat!
The quality of bounce on Perth in those days and the attack Australia has ,makes sachin legendary
Prakhar Ghadge steve smith also got 4 in 4
at home, tell him to do tht in INDIA.
DUKE REACTS!
Smith did get 3 hundreds in 4 test matches 2 of those were played on attrocious wickets
i saw this 114 as a young guy and i thought then as i do now he is a world class player
What is ur age now buddy, howu doing

Always respected Ian Chappell fair tough and a great captain a man who when speaks it's worth listening too.
Been living for nearly 40 years in a country where they don't play cricket. My gold standard Indian batsman was Sunil Gavaskar. Thanks to RUclips I've now seen Sachin Tendulkar and I hope Sunny won't mind if I rate Sachin a bit higher...

Thanks Sir for appreciation of our God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar a Genius.
Was indeed a great innings . Before Tendulkar the best player from the sub continent to play well in Australia was Javed Miandad , vishwanarth was probably the best guy from India but Tendulkar went passed everyone , before we Aussies put drop in road like pitches he was the wicket we wanted the most out of all the sub continent players . Abbas , Gavaskar , Ranatunga and afew others had their moments in Australia but Miandad looked very comfortable on fast bouncy pitches but Tendulkar was the best to tour here in my opinion
Miandad averaged 38 in Australia and 33 in West Indies. With a total of only 4 centuries in 23 tests. Only one match winning century, where man of the match was Imran Khan with 12 wickets in the match plus Viv Richards was not playing. Pretty average by normal standards, but yes, good by Pakistani standards.
@@cupidvogel good response. I was talking about who looked the most confident against fast bowling on bouncy pitches. Miandad had no fear of the pacemen. His record isn't the best but he was not ducking and running away to leg side which was what many of the sub continent, not all, used to do. For years the Aussies simply bowled into the armpit or ribs of the batsmen and let them make a mistake. Miandad actually sledged the bowlers to bowl more bouncers at him which was unheard of at the time.
@@painlesss13 Fair enough. Miandad was gutsy, I will give hi that. He was ugly to watch, I would rather watch a dog play with its tail than watch Miandad bat, but he was effective and a solid batsman.
@@painlesss13 You forget Viv Richards tearing Apart Dennis Lillee after first 4 test of 75-76 Series when he was still a Young Kid, He went on to open and score a 100,98,50 and 3 And then in 79 tour well he just was Peak of his powers. Very Naive to Pick Miandad ahead of Vivian Richards.
@@kunalsingh3121 Viv isn't from the sub continent.
My God at 18 yrs against the Mighty Aussies on world's bounciest pitch speaks high of his volumes in batting
Respect Ian Chappell.
This innings will separate sachin from virat forever
Personaly I respect virat but in front of sachin virat is nothing, sachin is the no one crowd puller and spectacular
Bhai per ki jutti bhi nahi hai Sachin agar Abhi khelta Virat ke era mein toh 200 shatak mar Sakta tha woh
Correct Sachin all 90's innings will superior and more challenging than Virat every innings because he faced bowlers which we will never see again .....
He scored runs when pitches were bouncy and fast
He also faced inswing ,outswing and reverse swing
He also batted against Warne ,Murli ,Saqlain and Mushi
@@julieshyju2014 Yes, Sachin Tendulkar the legend is incomparable.
the backfoot shot of Sachhin that Ian Chappell described is one of the greatest shots in my opinion. Ball is rising and you go to the backfoot and not slash the ball up in the air but punch the ball into the ground. Man that is freaking hard.
Perth is the most difficult pitch to bat on..a graveyard for batsmen..an 18 yr old guy adjusting from higher bounce to lower bounce as said by Ian chappel sir at such an early stage of his career shows how incredible he was..this shows the genius of Sachin sir..make virat kohli bat in those conditions of Perth against that devastating aussie attack..people who compare him to great Sachin will know the difference..for sure..
Gangadhar Panigrahi it used to be tough but now even Mitch Marsh is getting hundred here 😂😂
+Nit Lover it may be the case now but in the 90's during the time of Sachin or Lara Perth was surely one of the most challenging wicket to bat on, because of the uneven bounce..so even an above average bowler proved to be lethal at that point of time..that's why we say that was an era..in that case in 60's or 70's era lords was a difficult wicket to bat on but the scenario is much different now..my point was that for a guy like Sachin who had never played on a pitch like Perth of 90's era, ever before, for him at such a tender age showing the patience and skills on that pitch was something commendable..that makes him a class apart..
During the 70's, 80's and 90's, perth was one of the toughest pitches in the world along with Sabina park and kensington oval..But now with the drop in nature of Australian pitches, many Australian wickets have lost their individuality...
Gangadhar panigrahi totally agree with you
It's a irony that post Chennai (136 against a rampaging saqlain n wasim on a demon of pitch)in 1999 when the back problem started to haunt him.,he no more remained the same player he was earlier. Then the tennis elbow arrived to reduce him to just another great player.
Greatest storyteller Ian Chappell
Ian Chappel best cricket commentator and an excellent expert. We like him for his unbiased expert commentary.
Yeah 👍
I first saw Tendulkar play in the 1990 test series in England. I remember him getting a brilliant century at Old Trafford I think it was. I was amazed. I couldn’t believe how good he was for how young he was.
salute to the master!!!!!!!
What an analysis Ian
After this comment from Mr Chapple, no other comment is required to describe the ability and the greatness of this legend. He was from a distinctive class... ❤❤
This 114 innings of sachin is also a part of Ganguly's top 5 innings of Indian criketers in his biography.....

Sir Ian Chappell the adjustments made by Aussies in all conditions around the world is quite amazing.
We used to, not so much anymore. Smith, Khawaja and maybe Labuschagne do. The rest are walking wickets outside of Australia lol They all look good in Australia, because most pace attacks aren't fast enough(Only McGrath could take wickets bowling 125-130kms)
India have worked it out.
Our bowlers usually keep us competitive lol
The Greatest innings ever played by batsman is Sachin's master calss at perth 1990. Because of his height, age and pitch conditions.
Kiran More also deserves some appreciation since he didn't threw his wicket and together with Sachin was involved in 81 runs stand.
stuff of genius :)
Kohli fans have to listen to this video. Kohli made his test debut at the age of 22 years. By that age, Sachin had 8 international test centuries in places including places like Manchester, Sydney, Perth, Johannesberg, Colombo etc. If some one can score centuries in Sydney and Perth at 18 against a solid bowling attack and a century at the age of 16 in Manchester, it shows who the king is.
Additional points, Like Sachin no one is current generation tested with quality bowlers and in bouncy bowlers friendly pitches! Just think he proved against Ambrose, Walsh, Malcolm, McGrath, Vass, Pollock, Donald, Bret Lee, Akthar, vaas, Waquar, Imrankhan, Muralitharan, Bond and many... All pitches are made it as batsman heaven in last 10 years! Perth pitch is the deadliest pitch in the world where he scored a ton at 19!!
There is a difference between King and God... King offers prayers to God...
Speaking in English doesn't mean ki aap cricket ke baare main jyada jante ho , but yadi aap kabhi cricket khele hai toh aap unke ke baare main kuch galt nahi bol sakte ,undoubtedly he was the best there was and there will be ,you will never get another Sachin Tendulkar 🙏
sachin is great
Those who give bad name to Sachin should watch this innings.
Absolutely courageous and classy at such a teenage.
He is the best batsman India has ever produced. No one can surpass him
Goat in the making
This knock was stuff of legends
Ian has put in the right words.
I thought He would go for Sach's 155 v/s Warne.. Maybe i rate it high as i saw that Live as a kid..I was too young to see this one live.. Watching highlights can never match up to seeing the innings or a bowling spell Live.. M not sure if the 114 was televised in our part of the world.. Newys, long live the Master..
Background music in the end. Where to get it from
Merv Hughes said to Allan border during this innings"This little prick will score more runs than you Ab"
Damn he was right❤️
In india we call him godd
Being a Pakistani, I consider that Sachin Tendulkar is best ever Batsman of 150 years history of cricket. I disagree with the statement of sir Don Bradman that Tendulkar plays like him. I have seen the videos of Don Bradman's batting and great Tendulkar was far better than him. Don Bradman faced very ordinary bowlers but Tendulkar faced the highest ranked bowlers of the history of cricket. He faced Waseem, Waqar, Shoaib, Bret Lee, Alen Donald, Bishop, Ambrose, Walsh and Mc Grath. In the fields of spin he showed his class against Suqlain Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmad, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne. He scored centuries against these Giants. He showed his class in fast and bouncy pitches against bowling like rockets...
Thanks for such nice comments....however I will disagree with you on one point...in test it was Gavaskar and this was told by Wasim Akram who is one of all time great
Sachin scored 114 and the second highest score from Indian side in both the innings was 43. Sachin : A Lone Warrior.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️

Yeah good line up,except change Gilchrist for Knott. But excellent choices here.
This is a naive statement by uninformed cricket fans. This is a team game and a centurion cannot be blamed for the team's loss/draw. What are the other batsmen in the team doing? Just look at who else scored in that innings. Just a wicket keeper? A bouncy WACA track is not a joke and you are unimpressed? You seem to know more than Ian Chappell about test cricket batting.
Name is enough
Not that simple, Lara's appetite for big scores was second to none, and often carries his whole team alone, matchwinning innings, WHEN he scored his runs, it's not all statistics.
Trafalgar he has only 7 match winning hundreds though. Tendulkar has more centuries in odi wins than the no of match winning centuries scored by Lara in all formats combined. Lara was a selfish player who only wanted to achieve milestones
Ruchir Bro woul you mind explaining a dip in Sachin's strike rate when he used to reach 90s? Selfish?
@@dhirajnair5843 will you rather throw your wicket on 90's or play little defensive and score more after 100?
@@dhirajnair5843 yes I will. Tendulkar 's sr in 90's was around 85-90. Once or twice playing slowly in 90's doesn't mean that he always played slowly. You people love to make a mountain out of a molehill don't you? If Lara isn't selfish then why did he go for that 400? And how many match winning knocks does Lara have?
It's bull shit that Lara has won more matches he at least had a formidable bowling attack during his prime which sachin never had
Three different players made century for Australia...and from India only one..
He was 20 in 1992
Sachin is the greatest of this era, there's no doubt
not sure why the anger but if he is good you should be able to justify it well rather than showing immature anger. Anyways I suggest you focus all this aggressive energy in making your life better than Sachin's :) He has made enough in cricket thanks to fans like you.
this is the only match loosing innings in the series seems more like an afterthought to include this to get views
Chappelli thought Miandad was the best batsmen of his generation....better than Viv. Go figure....Atleast I do not agree with his judgment of the best. Calling Lara better, come on! Both Tendulkar and Ponting are better than Lara!
sportsfan mike you don't know cricket my friend
sportsfan mike miandad would be amongst the best my friend.
sportsfan mike Ponting is overrated as a batsman couldn't put bat to ball in India right through his career with just 1 hundred in 5 tours
Javed Miandad was a superb player, but of course Viv was magnificent. I would give Lara the edge over Ponting, though Tendulkar was better.
Only lara could be better batsman than Sachin of his generation not ponting or any other batsman.
My favourite is Sachin because of his timing and technique but lara played some wonderful knock in test cricket match. Both are genius for me might be lara is best in test cricket and Sachin is best in odi
lara comes close
Sachin out means that's all

IND lost 4-0 in 1991-92 young tendulkar was lone fighter.
IND lost 4-0 in 2011-12 a young batsman made his debut century and was the lone fighter.
Anyone remember his name.................
Virat Kohli.
History repeats itself.
Virat scored only one century
That is the best test innings he has played according to him.
How can a 100 be "mindless"? Learn some English.
Kohli is zero in test cricket.. Waise to baki me bhi flop hai aj kal.. He can never break sachins records
Zyaada hogaya bhai 0 kaha se hai vo in test cricket. He averages almost 50 in test cricket despite a bad run of form
I thought Ian hate Sachin
why?
Mo, but his brother greg sure did hate him..ian has always praised sachin but sometimes in his blunt australian way, hence to someone , it may seem a ian is hating sachin..
don't take criticism as hate.
I am not a big fan of Sachin as i find most of his 100's mindless and futile but this one again didnt have any bearing on the result but was classey.
HMM sachin has 75 centuries in winning and saving causes more than any of your favourite player. He is the biggest match winner in odis till date having an average of 56 in the 234 matches India won during his time
abhe launde tests cannot be won alone by one man. If cricket was like tennis then tendulkar would have won the most
Ruchir Mundhra lol.. what.. said Tendulkar has won 75 100 on a Winning cause Matches 😂😂😂 lol what a Lie and Shame and people mostly talk about TEST no one care about ODI 😂😂.. and man Overrating to Sachin in every aspects by their Fan Boys Bhakt are two damn high. Lol show me one Single Handedly Great Match winning Test inning of Sachin or Great impactful Match Saving inning of Sachin which is Remembered.. lol none of Sachin's Innings are mention even in top 30 of Wisden Greatest innings list. and Sachin and Sangakkara are the most overrated player of All Time. which is very true but stop Overrating players I hate it because it steal the lime light of a deserving and suitable candidates.
i Ennis ind v pak 2003 WC centurion. Just an example of many such match winning knocks
@@Billie0708 ok sachin is useless and cheap guy..

getting angry doesnt help. Instead look closely at someone like Dhoni and now even Virat. They not only play brilliantly themselves but inspire hencewin often. Dont you think Sachin lacked this. His hundred had ME written all over it than WE.
Lol 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 rubbish at its peak. Virat inspires a win? Dhoni inspires a win? Dhoni has lost India more matches than he has won. Virat chokes in the must win games.
You need to educate yourself, cricket is a We game and no one Me can win you a Test match, and Sachin has the most successful hundreds, hundreds in a winning cause,it's 53 from his 100 hundreds and some of his test tons resulted in a draw,go check some statistics apps.
