  • This video is my first look at the Zoom Precision Tool for the Brother Scan N Cut cutting machine. You will note that it is named Part 1.... I have filmed a LOT of video testing this tool and still haven't really finished all that I want to test.
    I will add more videos to demonstrate this tool over the next few weeks.

      You are welcome. 🙂 I have been intrigued by the prospect of engraving with the Scan N Cut and had a lot of fun exploring what the Zoom tool could do. I have more videos coming soon with projects using the tool.

    This is awesome, I had purchased this tool kit months ago but haven’t even opened it. I was hoping to use it on cork and faux vinyl so I am looking forward to your videos on those materials. Thank you so much!!!💕

    Hi Sue, i bought the zoom tool and engraved a dog collar tag, i noticed it does show up much better on the black, on a pink tag i had to do a fill in design to make it show up and went over it 3 times, Elaine

      I had good results on the copper bracelet and also the silver dog tag style blanks that came with the tool.
      The silver and copper lend themselves to using a dark felt tip pen and coloring the engraving in. I have more tutorials in mind to do as soon as I get a chance. The pink may look ok with this solution too.......?

    I looked around on your page and didn't see anything for faux or real leather with this tool. If you see this message, that would be super helpful!!

    The blank keeps moving even on a brand new mat any suggestions please

      Ensure that you tape the blank firmly to the mat. You can also try attaching the blank to contact or transfer tape and attaching that to the mat. This has worked quite well for me.

    Hi Sue. This video was made a year ago, and I'm wondering if you have continued to use the Zoom for engraving on metal and have you had any problems with your scan n cut? I have the 325dx and am hesitant to use a tool that is not a Brother tool, even though Zoom is advertised as a tool for the Brother scan n cut. TIA

      I don't do a lot of engraving however, I haven't noticed any issues with it leaving any residue or causing any problems with the machine. I will add though that the tool may void your Brother warranty so you are aware.

    Hi Sue, would you be able to use this to score folding lines instead of dash line cutting them? I have a cm600 so can't do half cuts. Many thanks for the tutorial

    • @kimdad8831
      @kimdad8831 Год назад +1

      You can technically still do half cuts if you change the score lines to draw lines so to do them separately and with a little experimenting and a note book find the right pressure and depth for that half cut.
      I have a cm900 and tbh there is really so little extra a sdx does at the moment I personally am not interested in upgrading but then I am a control freak so quite enjoy my little note book of settings lol xxx

      I am going to do a post on using the Zoom tool to score cards. I haven't gotten as far as testing this as yet. The creators of the Zoom tool were planning on creating a special scoring blade for the Zoom tool at some point.

      That's interesting as unfortunately due to events iv not had the chance yet but I do plan to experiment with my embossing tool and the wrmk etching and embossing tool so would be interested to see what the extra it is that zoom can offer as I really don't like the dash lines and this often results in a trimmer and scoreboard or die or worse not at all when I really would find it so use the my cm900 due to chronic health problems

    • @CreateWithSueandScanNCut

      Hi Carol, the tool does fit VERY firmly into the clamp. It fits into my CM900 however I do need to press down the lock very carefully as it is definitely a firm fit.

    Hi thank you for you video...I have just bought the ZOOM tool but I see on your video that you have the downloaded version of Brother Canvas Work space. I have a Scan n Cut Canvas that I have had since buying my machine a few years ago. I have a CM550. When I go to download the Brother Canvas Work Space I get to the part where it asks for me to sign in...is this normal? As I am wanting to use this version. Thank you in advance. Dawn in NZ

    • @CreateWithSueandScanNCut
      @CreateWithSueandScanNCut  Год назад

      Hi Dawn, yes, you need to set up a free account to access Canvas Workspace. The Zoom Tool is not dependant on using Canvas Workspace. You can create designs on your ScanNCut. Canvas Workspace however, opens up many more opportunities for you to create projects. It works with all models of ScanNCut.

      @Create With Sue and Scan N Cut Thanks. Does it make the grooves deep enough hold black marker

    • @CreateWithSueandScanNCut
      @CreateWithSueandScanNCut  Год назад

      @Barbra you can adjust the depth. The pressure setting of 9 goes quite deep. Testing the various depths. You could find a depth that suited your project. The 9 setting left raised edges, I thought that was too deep. The testing that I did was better with a lower setting.
      I have more info here and I am working on more.

    What’s the maximum thickness of the blanks that can be used? Did you scan the blank first and what materials can be used?

    • @CreateWithSueandScanNCut
      @CreateWithSueandScanNCut  Год назад +1

      Hi Bernadette. These card blanks that I played with are 0.8mm thick, here are the type I used in the tutorial amzn.to/3FmgbkQ or the bracelets amzn.to/3hjUI4g are about the same thicknes. The SDX machines can take up to 3mm and the CM models are 2mm. All the blanks I tested were less than what either machine can manage.

    I'd have made the edits I wanted on the PC, saved it, then exported to the machine. After loading the mat with material, scanning the material, then I would resize the design to fit the material. No guess work. Eliminates one or more steps.

      Yes, Canvas Workspace is very easy to work with. I often demonstrate more than what is requires so that crafters know how to do things. :-)
