Heizou's Source Of Motivation Is Kinda.. Depressing | Genshin Impact Lore

- Heizou is one of the best detectives in inazuma and has taken it upon himself to solve and even prevent all crimes. Sadly though his motivation comes from a rather depressing source.
Some part of this video comes from the actual lore while others may be speculation as we currently do not know the full story. As such take it with a grain of salt as the point of this video is just a deeper dive into genshin impact lore.

so unlike his tenryou coworkers who keep guarding and wait for any crimes to happen,
heizou always wander around by himself searching for any possible crimes before it happen eh
Pretty much, based on the lore its implied his coworkers tend to just do work they're assigned whereas heizou has a habit of deviating. For example he might be working on one case and if he passed by something weird going on he'll help out with that too haha
To add onto that, his given name "Heizou" rougly translates to "mass-produced soldier" while his surname "Shikanoin" roughly means "pioneered spirit".
This ties in to more of his backstory. He was from a small village where his family was well known for their martial arts. He had no say in his life as his father trained him very strictly. And piecing together clues from hidden interactions and voicelines, you can paint a picture that his old friend and mysteries were Heizou's only escape. Often sneaking out to solve crimes and such. Heizou never wanted to take up and help in the family business like he was expected to, instead running away as a teen and founding the detective agency with Sango.
If you interact with the Bulletin board after completing Itto's story quest you can find a series of letters from Heizou's older brother... They go rougly as follows:
**"I'm currently looking for my foolish younger brother Shikanoin Heizou. He names himself a detective and behaves arrogantly and disrepectfully. He's gone missing in the recent days- if anyone has seen or knows of his whereabouts please let me know."**
"He's gone off again?"
**"Yes. Gone off to investigate again. I just hope no one else gets hurt in the process."**
"... So you're just worried about others huh?"
This exvhange also shows that Heizou has gone no contact with almost his entire family, except one person... His distant cousin, Shrine Maiden Kano Nana. Nana also states that she's looking for him because she's seeking to take care of him, implying that he's younger than you'd think.
Sorry, I just find Heizou to be very intriguing to me.

Damn, there's people who actually read stuff onto the game, I'm very interested on his story now, some people of the community imply that he's a minor, but what do you think about that statement? (I'm not quite sure since I only took a liking to Heizou's backstory now but I assume he's a young adult)
Hmm, the martial arts part makes sense if you think about how Heizou punches with his attacks
@@shikanoinkyokoin my opinion I think he's a young adult, I've never seen him as a minor. I think his family is either "worried" about him or since they are strict and don't understand him they just want to make him obey what they say and become what they expect of him to be. He doesn't like his destiny imposed by his family and he wants to run away from it, thas what I think. In my opinion the only person who seems to genuinely care about him is kano Nana, in the way that an older sister would care, even though she is his cousin :) But hey, this is just me assuming things
Well, also if you read his talents his passive is called ‘pre-existing guilt’ (or something like that), which I found out to be quite sad-

Yes you are correct, it was the friend who introduced himself as the son of a merchant. I kinda worded that weirdly and sorta omitted that part so it sounded like Heizou just suspected from the get go.

Sadly yes, a lot of characters actually have pretty sad backgrounds which makes their positive nature even more striking and endearing

Damn 😔 this makes me so sad. It also reminds me that even though I have heizou at friendship 10, I didn’t even read his character story yet. This was a nice retelling of his story.

Glad you liked it, so much of their stories are hidden behind text and friendship levels so even I miss out things for characters I like haha. Theres a lot of different characters with really sad backgrounds but I like the idea they mostly overcame it, hopefully I can get around to covering them in the future
@@Maevix3142 yes! It’s definitely a very fun experience for me to spend time with characters and level up their friendship and then getting to know them better. Like with Heizou, you wouldn’t really expect him to have a sad story. It’s a surprise, really :D

Well diluc is kinda like batman, just the punch first ask questions later side of batman.. Heizou is the detective side of him which is the ask questions first THEN punch side of batman.. so technically still right lol
I'm quite new to the game and Heizou was the first character whose mechanics and story I fell in love with. It's really wonderful to hear this retelling of the story.
