There's one time in India, a rickshaw driver told me that he had lots of friends all arround the world, then he took a bunch of namecards from his pocket and showed me one from Hong Kong (I'm from Hong Kong). He said he took this guy to shopping and the guy was very happy with his service, but I saw on the card some words written in Chinese "不要信此人" - that means "don't trust this man".
He tried to relate to you in some form, this is also concerning.

I went to india very open, but halfway through my trip felt I could not trust anyone. The constant scammers and people approaching me was exhausting

Its not just foreigners. We Indians face this as well all over India at every tourist spots. We just ignore them and don’t reply them back. Couples and the bigger families are the prime target for them.

I had this kind of thing in Luxor, Egypt. It got so annoying that at one point I decided to count how many times people followed me and tried to sell me something. 12 times in 15 minutes. I was just walking along the street. As soon as one guy gave up, a new one would run across the street to take his place. Bizarrely, I never had this problem at all in India. I must have gotten lucky.

Bro I understand they need to earn money but being a nuisance to other people and making other people uncomfortable isn't cool. 100% not recommended to go visit India. Never coming back!

Watching these videos, I don’t think I’d ever visit India. This made me so annoyed, I can’t imagine experiencing this first hand. They are ruining repeat travelers. People will never go back if this is how they’re treated.

When I visited India I mostly visited rural places, it was quite peaceful. As far as I know not all places in India are like this I think it’s just the big cities
Please don’t go to india with a preconceived opinion on the country based on a few videos.
When I was in India, 2 days were enough for me to change all the plans to visit any touristic places, and I just went to Goa and spent several weeks there instead of travelling across the country. Only when I met foreign tourists, my trip became fun. So I only hanged out with tourists and only completely isolated any communication with locals. To this day, even after 10 years, I have a very bad reaction to India. Its kind of sad because before my visit I was curious about them, but now I have allergy to this culture, except for sitar.
This is why Ill never visit India.
Cant stand people who constantly have to disturb tourists.

I've lived in Inida for 29 years, traveled all over and am never bothered by touts. You engage them, encourage them, and then then put them down. Your approach needs refinement. Touts and beggars are a non-issue if you simply look away and ignore them.
Just dont engage. Period. As you say.
