Another great video Mr. Brian and Camera Crew! Just a suggestion.. we had similar issues with that model until we moved the transmitter and receiver to AS3X+ One New features is to use your extra channel to assign your 2 sliders on the back (need a NX10 or greater) to pitch and yaw which allows separate tuning in lieu of using the usual aux3 knob only.. it allows tuning on those 2 axis’s while in flight and won’t impact or change the aux3 gain. Also, the new algorithm of end points and priority now used makes the AS3X WAY better.. try it on ANY of your harder to fly airplanes.. everyone I’ve done has vastly improved how she flies now. Just keep in mind they highly recommend that once update the code you then do an immediate factory reset on your receivers and do a full new setup.. you see some pretty cool options.. the one I like in the utilities is the servo test option.. it’s like turning up your gains to 4x to test.. now you have a menu option.. and x1 always seems fine now. Enjoy, Rick BPRC Aerodome Mgr. and ticket taker.
I have this plane, the first time I hand launched was a disaster, like you mentioned, no real place to grab on to. I Dremeled two finger holes into the area where the main gear mounts and use those to hand launch. After that it became easy to throw with a slight up angle at full throttle. I fly it with 4s 2200 50c batteries and get 3 1/2 minutes out of it. Not my favorite 64mm but it can perform pretty well and does a really nice high alpha. Landing, I throw it into low rates just before touch down to prevent the elevators from grabbing the grass. I prefer my FMS Eagle over the F-35 but I've spent a lot more time witht that plane.
Wow! That first landing was great! If you had landing gear on cement you would of landed in about 4 feet of driveway! The way you flared it to a stall inches from the grass at very low speed was really precise. I can only do that if it’s really windy. Great work! Camera crew also👍
Brian, you landed quite fast and the fwd tipmof the elevator dug in. You need a much further aft CG and then you can approach with a steep AoA and flop onto the ground reducing elevator as you flop.
nah, I need to update to AS3X+ so I have LAUNCH ASSIST in SAFE, or be a better pilot and thrower. This plane just let me down too many times for me to ever fall in love with it. It's like a super hot girl that's a complete air-head. I want to love her, but she ONLY looks good....only surface level good...this plane is beautiful, but it just can't do what I want without a complete re-design - NO THANKS - reeks of dynam, only it's easier to build, higher quality, and works a lot better out of box - LOL ;)
I wouldn't expect anything different your channel is about build ,fly , crash and then repeat. It's the reason ❤ watching cause I build fly and crash repeat.
Hiiiiiiiiiiiii Briiiiiaaaaan! You have to trust the gyro give it a little up-trim and do a double-handed overhead launch backwards over your head. Like launching a high-speed wing. Or do what I did for hand launch EDFs. Build a Launcher. I've how skilled and crafty you were with your Airbus A-380 build. You should build a PVC Pipe bungee launcher for hand-launch planes. It is less stressful and much more enjoyable firing them like cannon balls. Make a foot trigger. Plenty of examples on RUclips. I think Hobby King still sells the bungee cords or you can get them from Ritewing or Aloft Hobbies.
When I hand launch my aircraft, I do it in SAFE, BUT, I also have a mix on a switch which gives me some extra up elevator. I flick it off once successful launched. I put GAINS on my left slider which makes them easy to adjust in flight. The knob is a nightmare to use.
How refreshing to get an honest review and not a whole bunch of BS that sounds like an infomercial. You are always honest and balanced in your reviews. You'll need a few more tubes of CHI-NA glue 😂
.....if you launch in SAFE without any UP trim and you launch it in an upward angle, SAFE is going to correct down and with the low airspeed it will dip towards, and probably hit, the ground. If you have UP trim then it chases the up angle from the moment it leaves your hand. The eflite F15 has so much power it will launch out of your hand almost vertically - again itbis important to think about the SAFE angle you need to do that or just fly away in AS3X. You could probably do a whole video on how to hand launch! If the wing is firmly attached then a discus launch is often best. I did it once with my Opterra and the wing came off!
I thought your belly landing looked nearly perfect. It's just, you can't do it in that tall grass with the shape of those wings. You just not gonna get away with that much resistance. In my humble opinion, of course, you the man And I'm your biggest fan.
If you updated your reciver or transmitter could you have hand launch assist on that makes the elevator I suppose so it gets you in the air but I’m only 20 mins into vid you might have found out why it was given that much elevator Brian I only learned about hand launch assist yesterday ✊
Make a hand toss mix. Up elevator that works as you apply throttle. Means the jet climbs the second it leaves your hands and safe keeps wings level. Once both hands are on the sticks switch mix off and fly away. Im also suprised the ESC didnt crap its pants. Its KV is nuch higher than the 4s equivalent 64mm brothers. Using 5s on my 4s planes im pulling about 75A which is what im guessing your set up is making too
@@BrianPhillipsRC oh 100% lol, we fly in a church parking lot but I use up all 100 some yards. I’ve only gotten it to fully take off by hand once. We gone on top of hills and threw and still crashed
I gave away my freewing model think 70mm model just last week. Was always something with it. However always flew. Last attempt damn thing didn't leave the ground. Rocketed across the runway like a rocket and just would not rotate. Checked everything. All was good. Never used gyros on it. Blew a wheel completely off from the speed. We walked and picked it up. Pulled my receiver and gave it to the guy that walked out with me to retrieve it. Damn thing always had gear issues for the most part even hot glued in. Mains doing the toe out thing. And I said fuck all the F35 jets fms versions were the worst. Bought 3 of them. 64mm. Hell if wasn't the esc burning out and it crashed. It was just what you seen in the vid. Was always touching that model. And the freewing version was world worst on gear snatching out no matter what. And the last flight attempt I gave that crap away for free. Screw the F35 on all makes edf I will say. They thing is garbage. Controlling that thing in flight requires so many adjustments. And landings. Well he didn't lie. Gear on they break all the time from the 64mm. Always out of track. And the freewing 70. Well they just snatching out seems no matter how much glue or type you put on them. Stay away from F35 edf jets. That's my warning. Brian likes the F16. Well it flew good. It just kept cutting out for some reason. Two of those. Crashed. I say his recommendation should have been and for me too is the F22. That thing is good on all scales depending your skill level. Motion RC that I buy from the most. Most 64mm edfs don't have rudders. And they don't need it. If you don't have one, the Arrow's Marlin is what you want.
