I think MTV really took off when Michael Jackson's Thriller came out. I was in an Aerosmith video I think in 1988. They took about 200 people and moved them around this Civic Center to make it look like real concert. It literally took all night. You can see me rockin to Rag Doll in the video. We had so much fun. Great video and McDonald’s breakfast sure does hit the spot and I was not born till the mid 90’s but do remember mtv being popular with my older sister who watched it all the time listening to music

I’ve been enjoying every one of them and appreciate your effort. I had this video on while I was working in my garage (doing some minor painting) and I found myself nodding in agreement with your assessment of MTV and it’s impact on music at the time. The video was almost more important than the music back then. Great insights and terrific variety in your videos. Thanks for all you do. Stay happy and healthy my friend!

I recall watching a video of nirvana on some talk show that wanted them to “fake” play which they did not like. Safe to say they made it obvious that they weren’t playing as a protest haha

Milli Vanilli was a band on MTV and only lip synced. 🤣😂. MTV still exists as a cable channel in the US. Their format is changed, they do not show continuous music videos.
