My dr did not retest me. I was on lisonopril and HCTZ for years. I knew they were bad for kidneys and -pril caused angioedema in blacks. I also had the dry cough. Asked to be switched to and ARB. She did not. I ended up in the ER with angioedema. I checked my chart labs and saw my K was 1.8, and it was never redrawn. I was also NOT told that I was in metabolic syndrome. I self dx all this while in nursing school. I made dramatic lifestyle changes and am proud to report no longer pre-diabetic and off both bp meds. All controlled with a clean diet and fasting. My doctor has me on lisinopril and I have stage three kidney disease. She also added had me on hydrochlorothiazide which also causes kidney. I’d rather deal with high blood pressure and high cholesterol, then end up on dialysis. Apparently she doesn’t care. It’s not her kidneys that are being damaged.
I was on the same medications Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide. My face and lips swelled up while on Lisinopril. Also stage three kidney disease. I have been on 5 different medications since the Doctors took me off Lisinopril. Still stage three Kidney disease.
Sometimes you need to fire your doctors!
I know all high blood medications can cause Gfr to go down , the British journal of medicine just said lisinopril will mess up you’re kidneys more ! My question 🙋🏽♂️ is what is the safest HP med that’s safe for the kidneys !
I use grape seed extract, olive leaf extract and garlic pills. My BP is like a spring chicken. I don't trust big pharma's meds. Lisinopril is made from snake venom from the Brazilian pit viper. Not a joke.
Astragalus membranaceus, angelica sinensis, reishi mushroom, & cordyceps mushrooms significantly reduced proteinuria without worsening GFR (from few research) what is your comment on the usage of these herbs ?

*** Important: Beware of taking NSAIDS when on Lisinopril. I took one doctor-prescribed standard dose of ibuprofen when taking lisinopril and several hours later was medivaced with acute kidney failure and subsequent sepsis. The beginning of my 20 year journey with CKD to now ESD and peritoneal dialysis. This interaction is in the literature but apparently not known by most doctors. Would be interested on your opinion about this - was mine a rare experience, or is this interaction more common? Thank you.
It’s Interesting when you are out on hpb meds the doctor doesn’t tell you to come back in 5 days to get blood work done to check kidney function odd?? Interesting 🧐 I wonder why they don’t any one know?
None of my doctors have said anything like this to me. I deliberately cut my doctors recommended dosage in half when I first started taking lisinopril just out of instinct and caution, and btw was later scolded for it by my primary care doctor.

My doc stopped lisinipril and put me on Losartan instead. Now I have to deal with max pot of 2000 a day. How do they work different. Only had a 5% drop on lisinipril. Not sure why he would change? Why woudl my doc wait 3 months to give me a blood test starting Losartan? Should I reference something to tell him 5 days is the gold standard?
Losartan was recalled years ago. I take Urbasartin now but if my insurance was different I'd take the best; Diovan.
I was on enalapril 5mg and my creatinine was 1.14 and egfr was 87 but than Dr. put me in 20mg enalapril and after two weeks nows my egfr is 62 and creatinine is 1.42, what should i do now?
I'm diabetic (A1C= 6.0), and have no kidney issue, but my Dr. has me on 5mg Lisinopril. He said it is simply to protect the kidney. Am I misunderstanding something here???
My wifes docotr said same thing and has her on 5mg lisinopril... something does not make sense
High blood pressure can damage the kidneys, so lowering it will protect the kidneys, but lowering it with Lisinopril, that damages the kidneys, makes no sense. Doctors ain't as smart as most people think. Lisinopril is made from snake venom. They studied the Brazilian Pit Viper and noticed the venom killed a rodent by lowering is blood pressure real low. They figured the dosage a person could take of the venom that would lower their blood pressure without it going so low it would kill them, but they didn't think about the other side effects like kidney damage. It also induces schizophrenia in alot of people. One woman was schizophrenic for 7 years after being put on this snake venom, and after someone read on the internet that it causes schizophrenia, they took her off it, and 2 days later her schizophrenia went away.

I was taking furosemide to lower my blood pressure by removing salt from the body thru the urine. I had to stop it because it caused hearing loss!!!
