I would have liked to exchanged my Mavic 3 for the 3 Pro
But I live in Germany, so EU.
I have the 3 drone certificates that you need for over 900 grams.
But the distance you have to keep to uninvolved people is simply bad to hold.
30 m at least distance or 5m with slow mode.
Then comes the 1: 1 rule.
    50m high meaning 50m distance.
    100m high meaning100m distance.
So I stayed with my Mavic 3.
under 900 grams. I can do almost everything.
    EU is so. Terrible

My issue with DJI is their lack of clarity on even short term product line changes. 8 months to complete the original M3 firmware (Nov 21 to June 22). Then the C1 classification firmware changes 6 months ago (in Europe). Only to discontinue the M3 with no prior notice, after only 23 days notice that the M3 Pro was to be launched. That is not creating confidence in when to purchase what is an expensive drone.

Good report and as you said I experienced it too. Hopefully DJI will soon come up with the option for three equivalent color profiles, so DLOG-M for the 7x camera. I think it's a pity that the drone is C2 because you have to keep more distance here in the EU, but the use of the 3x camera causes virtually no problems and the drone is easy to use despite C2. But the original Mavic remains because of the C1 if it is really necessary.

In the US I believe anything over .55 lbs or 250g is considered class 2, which carries considerably more restrictions, so my air 3 and air 2 are both class 2. One thing I don’t like about the 3pro, is the active track doesn’t pick up the subject after losing it behind an obstruction, air 3 is MUCH better with that and air 3 has occusynch 4.0 and ADPAS 5.0. And air 3 is longer flight time.

Firmware refinement and fixes are in order, but happily, we START with the 10 rounds of fixes since November 2021 Mavic 3 release. So. That pain is in the past, at least. SkyHighFilms kept saying "this is the one they should have released first" - I disagree, since all (most) of the growing pain is in the past at least.

Jake, the fact that the Pro has just 8 GB of SSD and the Pro Cine has 1 TByte of SSD. How does that impact the whole video recording and video saving. Is the video down loading from the drone to the RC. And is there a limited SSD in the RC as well? Is that one of the reasons why there is also an upgradable path to the RC Pro?
So, now I'm wondering how would the SSD size difference impact the whole workflow when shooting for hours, as while kayaking down a river. That's kind of a busy recording session not conducive to wanting to have to worry about video storage and safe keeping.

I agree with your points on sharpness and noise reduction which are too aggressive for my taste. And while you can soften sharpness a bit using gaussian blur, you won't get fine details washed out by DJI's noise reduction. I am flabbergasted by the fact that this is something I had on my 5 years old Phantom 4 Pro V2, and even entry level Mavic Mini has this feature as well, but it's not on Mavic 3 Pro series - despite so many people, including Philip Bloom, requesting it for Mavic 3, for years.

Newbie update: I have decided to purchase the Air 3 Fly More combo instead of the Mavic 3 Pro.
    A few reasons:
1 - It's my first drone. So, a cheaper version to learn the trade. Also, with the 3x optical 70 mm camera and additional digital zoom, as well as 4K video capture, it will be good enough for kayaking and other fun stuff.
2 - Rumors of a future Mavic 4 drone in develoment. So, if that drone comes out before any US ban, and if it has the right worthwhile feature, like 8K video, then I may upgrade to that.

The thing I hate the most is the inability to turn off the landing protection (bottom sensors) for hand catching.
Often launching from sand, rocks, mud, on boats etc and hand catching is essential.
The way it tries to dodge your hand is idiotic and dangerous. Mavic 2 Pro had an option to turn these sensors off.
This one feature irks me because it's meant to be a drone for pros and also for travelling.

    • @chris-moore-move-ment

I have this drone and the hand catching is surprisingly smooth. Put your hand out and then lower the drone down and it’s easily caught. I also have the mini pro 3 and that is much tricky to hand catch (it’s more likely to try and avoid your hand) I think.

    • @JakeSloan
