It is really cool that Gabumon starts off as some kind of weird lizard monster wearing wolf skin, only to become the very creature it was wearing. It is like it wished it was wolf, only to get its wish granted after its digivolution.
The cannon explanation is that gabumon wears discarded garurumon data and when it digivolves it’s digicore “downloads” the discarded data and makes gabumon become a garurumon. It brings up some questions. 1: what does garurumon digivolve from naturally? 2: what does gabumon digivolve to naturally? Really popular subject among the digimon community and I agree I love it!

@@Karn_EX Might be a good idea to do two videos, one focusing on the natural carriers like the Dorumon line, and the other being those who have gained the X-Antibody in some way. If you did every Digimon and variation who have the X-Antibody, I'd imagine it would be close to an hour long. Simply a thought. If you don't mind tackling all of them in one go, that's perfectly fine.
I really hope the tcg gives more love to x-anti body digimon, all the garurumon x forms feel so well connected. It definitely does feel like magnagarurumon is almost a refined x metalgarurumon I never noticed that before

I have to say for myself: Weregarurumon is my favorite Adventure Ultimate and my second favorite Ultimate in the franchise next to Rapidmon. Part of what it comes down to is that I don't like Digimon on all fours, I think it critically limits what you can do with it in combat. Like with Garurumon, every time it faced something smaller than it that was as strong or stronger it would basically just stand there and take it since its not like it can block. Weregarurumon fixed that major problem I had with Garurumon and added in a really cool martial arts based fighting style...that it then lost when it evolved again which has always been a major reason I like Wargreymon more than Metalgarurumon. I have the same problem with the transition between Renamon and Kyuubimon & Gaomon to Gaogamon. It went from being a cool fighter to just shooting from a distance and doing shoulder tackles. For me, I prefer when Digimon get smaller and more agile as they digivolve past Champion/Adult level or at least once they get to Mega/Ultimate. Like I also hate Megagargomon because its so big and dumb and just stands there most of the time. Weregarurmon's fight with Myotismon will always be a highlight for me.
What if all main protagonist could DNA with each other? Like Tai's Wargreymon with Davis's Magnamon, Takato's Gallentmon with Takuya's EmperorGreymon, and Marcus's ShineGreymon with Mikey's OmniShoutmon. I feel like their combinations would be cool and interesting.
I was hoping this was next 😁. I always chose Gabumon in DW1 too, both because I liked it better and because it had the only line to ultimate that I had the requirements memorized for as a kid lol

I never like that the Metalgarurumon go back to be an animal walking in four legs after being a fighting hand to hand warrior as Weregarurumon, he was a mighty werewolf and then he just go back to be a regular wolf, yeah a wolf of steel, but he lost something important
I can't tell for sure because it's been over 20 years that I watched Adventure for the first time, but I'm inclined to say Garurumon might be the first digimon I fell in love with. Probably because I am/was a basic kid and I liked beasts digimon (Garurumon and Leomon come to mind) instantly back then. So I was looking forward to this video very much and... I'm so disappointed there's not many Garurumon variants as there are Greymon variants X'D But Anyways, I enjoyed this video 👍 I honestly don't get what is it about WereGarurumon that Karn classifies as silly (I always saw WereGarurumon as a badass, still do) but I don't complain about it because really, Karn is such a kind and fun guy, and he is definitely my favorite Digimon RUclipsr. His content's great, he is great, we could disagree on everything digimon and I'd still subscribe because he is that good, and nice, and funny! Karn you're great and I really hope you get all the subscribers you deserve, which are millions. Honestly anyone who considers themselves a digimon fan, hardcore or casual, should totally be surprised to this channel. I know I don't regret my subscription one bit. Have a great day!
Absolutely agree, have always preferred Gabumon's line over Agumon's, even with the years gone by with variants like BurningGreymon and GeoGreymon line, call me girly but I just love mammal Digimon. And yeah the metal attributes, later on, helps a lot more and gel together I think better than MetalGreymon and the like. I got to say personally, outside of Adventure line up, KendoGarurumon is probably my favorite out of them all.
I can't tell what I would want more, A Garurumon counterpart to Geo/Rise/Shinegreymon, or a ZeedGarurumonVictoryGreymon Omnimon. Maybe the second so VG and ZG would appear in more games
I think we're missing out on a "true" Garurumon Rookie and at least alternate versions of the rest of the line for Gabumon. It always kinda bothered me but peaked my interest, that Gabumon had Garurumon's fur as part of it's code. So, I think it would be a pretty cool idea if Gabumon was a Digimon that required having Garurumon data. Then Gabumon would digivolve into more beast/reptile versions of the regular line. Could even be something as simple as putting "Scaled" in front of the original names. Lol
Out of the original 8 partners Digimon Gabumon was and is still my favorite. I concur that The antibody-X Mega form is cool but the Bond of Friendship is still the coolest!
I think his card in the new tcg does it more justice for Garurumon X and I might be one of the few who wished Metalgarurumon X was the actual design and pose you know
Something I just noticed. You've talked about how Blitz Greymon and Cres Garurumon are inverses of the dynamic of War Greymon and Metal Garurumon (Same with Victory and Z'd) but I just noticed that Blitz Greymon is very similar to Magna Garurumon. And you could say Cres is very similar to Emperor Greymon too.
I'm going to be honest I wish garurumon had something that was like Gaiomon taking the idea of the Digimon and then putting it in a different form so gaiomon was originally going to be intended as a black Wargreymon X then changed it to be its own greymon subspecies. So instead of it having claws it actually had two swords and I was hopeful that maybe garurumon would have had that same treatment since garuruman and greymon are a pair basically in Digimon. So maybe take the gun aspect that you get from garurumon and instead turn it into something like a gunslinger werewolf which now that I think about it sounds oddly cool (plus it also be pretty cool if it had its own mode like for instance gioman got itto mode or in English fierce blade mode, so maybe if it had its own mode it could be called something like berserk blaster mode) but this is legitimately just me rambling
I feel like the Garurumon line isn't given as much shine as the Greymon line which is unfortunate because they're like 2 sides of the same coin in my opinion imagine a Omegamon/Omnimon variant for each of their counterparts
Garurumon X seems like a Metal Garurmon. And I believe that's why it exist. To be the Garurumon counterpart to Metal Greymon. Since the evolution lines for Argumon and Gabumon are often matching pairs in whatever they appear in. Plus their lines tends to be the Adventure Standard despite how there's many paths can be taken. After all, Were Garurumon seems to be the the one that can transition into CresGarurumon the best. Since they're both bipedal and its reasonable to believe that a Were garurumon just grabbed a weapon and used it for a long time before becoming CresGarurumon.
Totally agree with you on Black Were/Metalgarurumon and MetalGarurumon X here: I also prefer Black Weregarurumon because of the military camo pants, and while i'm meh on the normal version, I love Black Metalgarurumon, specifically in Cyber Sleuth where it had red eyes ands some other color tweaks vs the Bandai art. And like you, Metalgarurumon X is my top favorite here: I love the big chaingun arm it has and the missiles and cannons it has strapped to it's shoulders and such, I wish normal Metalgarurumon had more of that too. I think the one thing where we deviate is that I WANT to like Weregarurumon X, I really dig it's huge metal claws, but it's head/neck being almost devoir of fur makes it look sort of gangling and gross, which I don't like here.
I feel so heard!! That Garuru "species" is one of my favorites because I'm so polarized on them. I'm either "this is perfect" or "nah I hate it". Also, and I think this is from the PS1 days, I could've sworn there were interpretations of Gururumon as white with black stripes. I feel that would look so much better than whatever hyper saturated thing is happening in the official art 😅
I always found the garuru elemental powers to be strange. Greymon is essentially always associated with fire, but the garuru side of things is usually associated with ice, light, and occasionally even thunder. Is there an in universe reason for this?
Am I the only one that wants a Garurumon for each Greymon? I don't know I just think of them as a duo, and the fact that there are some duos that aren't complete annoys me.
The lack of BlackMetalGarurumon X bothers me, and I wish there was a Garurumon equivalent for Gaioumon and SkullGreymon. Especially SkullGreymon. And a toy Gabumon too.
I feel like Zeedgarurumon and Victorygreymon haven't gotten an Omnimon variant because they themselves are basically more Omnimon like versions of the originals. Zeedgarurumon is basically a Metalgarurumon with the Omnimon cannon instead of the usual weapons and Victorygreymon is the same but with Omnimon's sword.
Honestly I do love MetalGarurumon X-Antibody's design. It's so different from the regular counterpart, but it also looks so cool. I also like CresGarurumon, it looks pretty cool with it's gold color Honestly I don't really like AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon's designs because their designs were made for selling toys, same reasoning as Aldamon and Beowulfmon, where their previous forms were combined to make one entity. If it weren't for the toylines, I wonder if their designs would have been different
I love that Z'dGarurumon and VictoryGreymon look like they have Omegamon's Garuru Cannon and Grey Sword as weapons. My headcanon is that its Agumon and Greymon's evolution after giving their power to Imperialdramon like in the movie where only Omegamon'a body becomes Imperialdramon's sword. In a way I dont really want to see an Omegamon because it's like they already have the power of Omegamon. (Especially if they ever get used as evos for WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon somewhere)

Maybe we could try doing some more franchise crossovers. I recently have been wondering what Digimon that have acquired or appropriated Bionicle data could be like; especially in the case of the Toa. For those unfamiliar with Bionicle, the Toa are these guardian warriors that are sort of attuned to different elements; go check out the Bionicle wiki to see what all the different elements are because they have more of the base set, which each of the Toa sort of utilizes and embody but in this sort of heroic way. Bioncle's base elements, meaning there is a known Toa for each of them, are Fire, Water, Earth, Air/Wind (the movies call it Wind a lot but the wiki just calls it Air), Stone (Yes, Stone and Earth are different elements in this context), and Ice. So, 6 Toa, 6 Elements. Each individual Toa has their own unique weapon, and that weapon can (and usually does) as a conduit for their elemental power (even when used by someone else, interestingly enough), but each Toa has a unique ability that isn't actually tied to their element but more a reflection of an aspect of their personality in the form of their "Mask Power," so yes, each Toa mask has different power and ability. Granted, you'll have to go into each Toa's bio and look at the masks they had to learn what sort of power each mask has, So, the idea of these biomechanical beings having their life data basically copied and incorporated into a Digimon is sort of fun to think about. a MetalGururmon with the data of an Ice Toa could be fun to see, especially when you take the mask power of that particular Toa being superimposed onto that MetalGururmon to give MetalGururumon that power as well, one of the Ice Toa had the power to see through solid objects while another Ice Toa had the power of Telekenisis, can you imagine a MetalGururumon with supercharged Ice powers and the power to move things with its mind? That would be absolutely ridiculous; or WarGreymon with supercharged Fire powers with the ability to generate energy shields or turn invisible? Yeah, one of the Fire Toa has the ability to generate energy shields while another was shown with the power to turn invisible, the Toa with the power to turn invisible also had these prophetic-like visions but also suffered from confidence issues.
I will say this there are some x anti-body version digimon which fit their level just as one of those digimon power ups that give them the strength of their upper level while staying at their current level giving them that suprise strength factor. Ex. A champion with the strength of an ultimate
CresGarurumon might be my favourite ultimate/mega. I loved when the vpet 20th came out with those new Digimon and Alter S might be my favourite Omegamon (after Omekamon lol) 02 and Xros Wars made me love gold Digimon. And its evolution in 2020 was great, plus I love its weapon. But honestly I think I like adult and perfect Digimon more overall almost nothing beats Garurumon and Weregarurumon. I had the digivolving toy as a kid and I took it with me everywhere lol. I legitimately couldnt tell the difference between Garurumon and Gururumon until someone explained it to me this year lol
I was really turned off by most of the X-antibody variants when they started debuting - and the animation of X-Evolution didn't help any. Looking back at the card art now, I can concede that MetalGarurumon X is definitely cooler than I gave him credit for. Still not an S for me, but maybe B+/A-.

There is new art for garurumon x and weregarurumon x btw. The card game has them in an upcoming booster deck. I have them in Japanese. They aren’t in English yet And I didn’t care for the black garurumon until the card game. The card for that one is the best garurumon art yet.

Gabumon / Psychemon / black Gabumon, and all the various forms of the digivolutions were always my favourites. I have all the Yamato / Matt stuff I could get. I’ve cosplayed Matt, and all the things lol 😂 I was excited when I heard about Gururumon in world 2, but I was let down… I think I’ll re draw it the way I thought it would look as a psychemon lover.
Personally, I think Ancient Garurumon’s design works better as a fusion evolution for Beowulfmon than the actual design we got. Ancient Garurumon’s design just kinda flows better as a combination on the human and beast spirits if you ask me
Funny enough, when I was a kid, I preferred Gabumon over Agumon. But, now as an adult, I've grown to love Agumon's whole lines over the Gabumon lines. I think the only exception being the Light Spirit. There are just designs I don't like all that much (mainly WereGarurumon. Something feels off with him, clunky like you said) and Blitzgreymon just blows Cres out of the water. I still love Metal Garu but the Grey's just keep winning with each new addition. If Survive adds a new Greymon, I'm sure I'll adore it like Victory, Blitz, and War
i love the first time i see metal garurumon X in the Dmw4, one of many reason that i play that game even till this date in emulator. but magnagarurumon still be on special place in my heart. because i didnt really favour the weird & unique concept of frontier, but seeing metal garurumon became a plane just sold that series thoroughly. its even capable to left the wing and gun to go full melee to respect the lobomon fighting style if i remember correctly.
I'm with you on ShadowWereGarurumon/WereGarurumon (Black), but I'm an edgelord, so... yeah. I'm also totally down for MetalGarurumon X, despite not caring too much for X-Antibodies. MagnaGarurumon is definitely S-tier and probably my favorite Garurumon-species Digimon.
I seriously want Toei/BamCo give us an anime and/or game that focuses on the X-Antibody, specifically focusing on X-Antibody variants and not just new X-Antibody digimon. I know we do have some games, but a new one would be nice. I just want to see more out of the X-Antibody variants than what we got in the CGI Movie.
MadGarurumon Puppet(?) Digimon Champion/Adult Level A rare variant of Garurumon where it has learned to how to utilize magic. However, it's sanity and intelligence may have taken a step back, leaving it to be more so akin to a Neanderthal armed a club imbued with arcane magic. It may be able to use magic, but that doesn't mean it's efficient with it. Attacks/Moves: Magi Whack (Whacks the opponent with its magic imbued club) Arcane Zinger (Shoots bolts of arcane magic at the target) Arcane Shock (Releases a surge of arcane magic electricity to shock all foes around the user) Arcane Stream (fires a surging stream of magic energy at one or many targets) Eye of Insanity (shoots concentrated magic energy from its eyes to stun the opponent) Evolves from: Hedgiemon KoGarurumon Goblimon Shamanmon Evolves into: Trollmon SkullGarurumon Immortusmon Slide Evolutions: Maskmon
oddly enough, not a fan of weregarurumon but I love black weregarururmon. Maybe it's becasuse i got my bancholeomon from the black variant but the dark fur just works so much better.
Some of the X-Antibodies are...hit or miss. It def doesn't help that some of the art feels very cluttered because of the alternate styles and there aren't many alternate poses or reference sheets avaliable. Garurumon losing its iconic (in my opinion) ribbon tail def had me questioning if X-Antibody designs were worth attempting. But then I see Ogremon X and I'm like _HELL YEAH THIS WAS WORTH IT!_
The Thing about Garurumon X is it looks like if Garurumon was an actual wolf with the standard Garurumon Markings on top of the Metal Garurumon references. I said Garurumon too many times it means nothing now. Garurumon.
Hey, I actually LIKE Gururumon, and how it's just unapologetically a very lazy Garurumon repaint. In fact, I want a full proper evolution line for Gururumon, all of them just Gabumon's evolutions, but one color off.
I know your custom art videos take a lot of planning and time but I’d love to see you do an unmade omnimon variants video. I’d especially love to see an ancient omnimon or even another omni x that took more elements from wargrey and melga x
I get what they were going for with wargreymon and metalgreymon having alternated stages with weregarurumon and metalgarurumon, but it just makes his digivolution feel a bit janky, which sucks since the line is pretty good looking as a whole
Would be cool if we could see list like this for all 8 main kids, or even 02 kids, but sadly they don't have much in terms of slide evolutions (both 01 and 02). Even if it was doable for 02 without the digieggs would Veemon be the only one who would have a tier list?
For me, MagnaGarurumon with all his giant cannons and weaponry is S+++++ tier. One of the best digimon, full stop. But the moment in the show he drops all his weapons and he's just a weird lanky, pale blue, wolf baby thing he instantly turns into like a C tier for me.
That one thing that find a little odd or annoying with the main garurumon like in Adventure is starts off biped, then quadruped, the biped, the quadruped again.
Wasent there like another garurumon in frontier? Kendo garurumo/lightning garurumon or something like that? It was wight and had wheels behind it legs I thing.
Hot take: Weregarurumon always felt like a mega counterpart to Wargreymon, both being a lot more humanoid in shape. Metal Greymon and Metal Garurumon felt like the same level for a myriad of reasons.
It's weird, on paper, I definitely like the Garurumon-family more than the Greymon-family, wolves being my favorite animal and all (although despite me also being really into dragons for a while now, that didn't really help most of the Greymon-family), but somehow, I'm somehow even more "sick" of Garurumon than I am of Greymon (carrying over to most of Garurumons line as they keep a lot of its features intact, unlike Greymon, which might be where Garurumon makes up on the "overexposure"), and that despite Greymon definitely getting a lot more overexposure than Garurumon. Maybe it's exactly because my favorite animals are wolves, so the more I look at it, the more I can see overexaggerated features that, to me, kinda tear it away from that, like its overly long snout, or the tail, or how its pelt looks so... skintight. I mean, in a way, that's just the way Digimon were designed back then, but I just don't like it for Garurumon. Perhaps even more ironically, while Garurumon X basically fixes most of these complaints I have, I'm really not sure if I actually like it more or less, perhaps because without context, I don't think I'd be able to recognize it as Garurumon, I think it went a bit too far, but also it looking at least a bit more like a "big bad wolf" when that's almost opposite to how it is. It DOES work really well as a bridge to MetalGarurumon though. I'm a bit softer on Gururumon, simply because of how forgotten it feels, but basically, all I said above also applies to it and BlackGarurumon, they really don't take much from each other. My biggest hope would be that Gururumon gets its own, slightly more unique evolution-line, since the Garurumon-family is behind compared to the Greymon--family anyways... Astamon was pretty good for that, although it already had its own line in the first place. I definitely get the complaints about WereGarurumon as well, though I've always been partial to bipedal Digimon, and it's literally based on a werewolf, so I feel like I can forgive most of its awkward elements. Especially if seen as a standalone Digimon, not as a step between Garurumon and MetalGarurumon, because otherwise, yeah, it's very much just the odd one out. Though I also prefer BlackWereGarurumon. WereGarurumon X is definitely the best one though, kinda remedying its awkward position in the line to MetalGarurumon while still staying quite accurate to the original... although something about the tongue hanging out and the choker makes it seem kinda like furry-art... Saggitarius-mode is pretty terrible though, the modern wings clash too much with WereGarurumons wild, kinda punk-y design, making no efforts to really smoothen over that. I... honestly was never too big on MetalGarurumon, for one because it just felt like a step back to me as a child, on the other hand because it's also "just" a wolf-cyborg with weird wings and such... yeah, it just doesn't work for me. The X-Antibody is a lot cooler for me, because it takes more of the bipedal from WereGarurumon, but it's also not just an armored wolf anymore, it has its heavy weaponry right out already, and no weird wings. I'm still a bit more eh on it as it's still MetalGarurumon, and I think in general I think I would've just preferred them going for a more organic design. The bit about wearing heavy weaponry didn't really help ZeedGarurumon though, to me it just feels like MetalGarurumon with a cannon screwed on its back, where VictoryGreymon at least feels somewhat more unique as it went from using gauntlets to using a giant sword. CresGarurumon... is weird to me, I like the concept, a bipedal Garurumon using traditional weaponry, but... something in the execution just bothers me, the obnoxious golden armor with way too many edges covering its entire body, the pose... actually, looking again at it in the anime, and its New Century-artwork, it looks a lot better there, so the issues I have are mostly with its original art. So taking that into account, it's probably around the same level as MetalGarurumon X for me. I definitely agree on AncientGarurumon, its bulkyness might be what's dragging it down for me too. Honestly, when I first saw it in the movie, I was somewhat disappointed with it, despite me generally being a sucker for the Spirit-Digimon and everything surrounding them, but I definitely came to appreciate it more over time. Still, the fact that I can't really confidently put it over CresGarurumon, despite it being a wolf using swords, a combination of 2 of my favorite things, is somewhat telling. (Also note that for the WarGreymon-MetalGarurumon connection between AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon, they also swapped weapons, AncientGreymon has blasters on its body while AncientGarurumon has a sword for each hand). Honestly, I think slimming it down a bit, maybe making the head a bit smaller, would already do a lot for me to like AncientGarurumon more... things for an X-Antibody variant, I guess... or for MagnaGarurumon, because it's basically perfect, carrying the cyborg-traits of MetalGarurumon (along with the artillery), while also keeping a lot of the wolf-like traits very visible, the over-the-top plane-like armor, and it can shed all that and go over to faster combat with 2 freaking lightsabers, it's great, definitely on top of my ranking.

The cannon explanation is that gabumon wears discarded garurumon data and when it digivolves it’s digicore “downloads” the discarded data and makes gabumon become a garurumon. It brings up some questions. 1: what does garurumon digivolve from naturally? 2: what does gabumon digivolve to naturally? Really popular subject among the digimon community and I agree I love it!

@@Karn_EX Might be a good idea to do two videos, one focusing on the natural carriers like the Dorumon line, and the other being those who have gained the X-Antibody in some way. If you did every Digimon and variation who have the X-Antibody, I'd imagine it would be close to an hour long.

I really hope the tcg gives more love to x-anti body digimon, all the garurumon x forms feel so well connected. It definitely does feel like magnagarurumon is almost a refined x metalgarurumon I never noticed that before

BT9 focuses on X-antibody. MetalGarurumon X is a top tier deck for that format.

I have to say for myself: Weregarurumon is my favorite Adventure Ultimate and my second favorite Ultimate in the franchise next to Rapidmon. Part of what it comes down to is that I don't like Digimon on all fours, I think it critically limits what you can do with it in combat. Like with Garurumon, every time it faced something smaller than it that was as strong or stronger it would basically just stand there and take it since its not like it can block. Weregarurumon fixed that major problem I had with Garurumon and added in a really cool martial arts based fighting style...that it then lost when it evolved again which has always been a major reason I like Wargreymon more than Metalgarurumon. I have the same problem with the transition between Renamon and Kyuubimon & Gaomon to Gaogamon. It went from being a cool fighter to just shooting from a distance and doing shoulder tackles. For me, I prefer when Digimon get smaller and more agile as they digivolve past Champion/Adult level or at least once they get to Mega/Ultimate. Like I also hate Megagargomon because its so big and dumb and just stands there most of the time. Weregarurmon's fight with Myotismon will always be a highlight for me.

I can't tell for sure because it's been over 20 years that I watched Adventure for the first time, but I'm inclined to say Garurumon might be the first digimon I fell in love with. Probably because I am/was a basic kid and I liked beasts digimon (Garurumon and Leomon come to mind) instantly back then.
So I was looking forward to this video very much and... I'm so disappointed there's not many Garurumon variants as there are Greymon variants X'D

I honestly don't get what is it about WereGarurumon that Karn classifies as silly (I always saw WereGarurumon as a badass, still do) but I don't complain about it because really, Karn is such a kind and fun guy, and he is definitely my favorite Digimon RUclipsr. His content's great, he is great, we could disagree on everything digimon and I'd still subscribe because he is that good, and nice, and funny! Karn you're great and I really hope you get all the subscribers you deserve, which are millions. Honestly anyone who considers themselves a digimon fan, hardcore or casual, should totally be surprised to this channel. I know I don't regret my subscription one bit.

Absolutely agree, have always preferred Gabumon's line over Agumon's, even with the years gone by with variants like BurningGreymon and GeoGreymon line, call me girly but I just love mammal Digimon. And yeah the metal attributes, later on, helps a lot more and gel together I think better than MetalGreymon and the like. I got to say personally, outside of Adventure line up, KendoGarurumon is probably my favorite out of them all.
MagnaGarurumon making S tier made me so happy. It's my *favorite* Hybrid digimon out of all of them
I can't tell what I would want more, A Garurumon counterpart to Geo/Rise/Shinegreymon, or a ZeedGarurumonVictoryGreymon Omnimon. Maybe the second so VG and ZG would appear in more games

I think we're missing out on a "true" Garurumon Rookie and at least alternate versions of the rest of the line for Gabumon. It always kinda bothered me but peaked my interest, that Gabumon had Garurumon's fur as part of it's code. So, I think it would be a pretty cool idea if Gabumon was a Digimon that required having Garurumon data. Then Gabumon would digivolve into more beast/reptile versions of the regular line.
Could even be something as simple as putting "Scaled" in front of the original names. Lol

I’ve always preferred Weregarurumon over MetalGarurumon because I’ve always love werewolves and WereGarurumon is supposed to be a werewolf.
Something I just noticed. You've talked about how Blitz Greymon and Cres Garurumon are inverses of the dynamic of War Greymon and Metal Garurumon (Same with Victory and Z'd) but I just noticed that Blitz Greymon is very similar to Magna Garurumon. And you could say Cres is very similar to Emperor Greymon too.
I'm going to be honest I wish garurumon had something that was like Gaiomon taking the idea of the Digimon and then putting it in a different form so gaiomon was originally going to be intended as a black Wargreymon X then changed it to be its own greymon subspecies. So instead of it having claws it actually had two swords and I was hopeful that maybe garurumon would have had that same treatment since garuruman and greymon are a pair basically in Digimon. So maybe take the gun aspect that you get from garurumon and instead turn it into something like a gunslinger werewolf which now that I think about it sounds oddly cool (plus it also be pretty cool if it had its own mode like for instance gioman got itto mode or in English fierce blade mode, so maybe if it had its own mode it could be called something like berserk blaster mode) but this is legitimately just me rambling
I feel like the Garurumon line isn't given as much shine as the Greymon line which is unfortunate because they're like 2 sides of the same coin in my opinion imagine a Omegamon/Omnimon variant for each of their counterparts
Garurumon X seems like a Metal Garurmon. And I believe that's why it exist. To be the Garurumon counterpart to Metal Greymon. Since the evolution lines for Argumon and Gabumon are often matching pairs in whatever they appear in. Plus their lines tends to be the Adventure Standard despite how there's many paths can be taken. After all, Were Garurumon seems to be the the one that can transition into CresGarurumon the best. Since they're both bipedal and its reasonable to believe that a Were garurumon just grabbed a weapon and used it for a long time before becoming CresGarurumon.

Totally agree with you on Black Were/Metalgarurumon and MetalGarurumon X here: I also prefer Black Weregarurumon because of the military camo pants, and while i'm meh on the normal version, I love Black Metalgarurumon, specifically in Cyber Sleuth where it had red eyes ands some other color tweaks vs the Bandai art. And like you, Metalgarurumon X is my top favorite here: I love the big chaingun arm it has and the missiles and cannons it has strapped to it's shoulders and such, I wish normal Metalgarurumon had more of that too. I think the one thing where we deviate is that I WANT to like Weregarurumon X, I really dig it's huge metal claws, but it's head/neck being almost devoir of fur makes it look sort of gangling and gross, which I don't like here.

Also, and I think this is from the PS1 days, I could've sworn there were interpretations of Gururumon as white with black stripes. I feel that would look so much better than whatever hyper saturated thing is happening in the official art 😅
I always found the garuru elemental powers to be strange. Greymon is essentially always associated with fire, but the garuru side of things is usually associated with ice, light, and occasionally even thunder. Is there an in universe reason for this?
And also darkness since some of their members are part of the Nigthmare Soldiers.

The lack of BlackMetalGarurumon X bothers me, and I wish there was a Garurumon equivalent for Gaioumon and SkullGreymon. Especially SkullGreymon. And a toy Gabumon too.
I feel like Zeedgarurumon and Victorygreymon haven't gotten an Omnimon variant because they themselves are basically more Omnimon like versions of the originals. Zeedgarurumon is basically a Metalgarurumon with the Omnimon cannon instead of the usual weapons and Victorygreymon is the same but with Omnimon's sword.

Honestly I don't really like AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon's designs because their designs were made for selling toys, same reasoning as Aldamon and Beowulfmon, where their previous forms were combined to make one entity. If it weren't for the toylines, I wonder if their designs would have been different

I love that Z'dGarurumon and VictoryGreymon look like they have Omegamon's Garuru Cannon and Grey Sword as weapons. My headcanon is that its Agumon and Greymon's evolution after giving their power to Imperialdramon like in the movie where only Omegamon'a body becomes Imperialdramon's sword. In a way I dont really want to see an Omegamon because it's like they already have the power of Omegamon. (Especially if they ever get used as evos for WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon somewhere)
In my headcanon, Psychemon evolves into Sangloupmon to Astamon.

Maybe we could try doing some more franchise crossovers. I recently have been wondering what Digimon that have acquired or appropriated Bionicle data could be like; especially in the case of the Toa. For those unfamiliar with Bionicle, the Toa are these guardian warriors that are sort of attuned to different elements; go check out the Bionicle wiki to see what all the different elements are because they have more of the base set, which each of the Toa sort of utilizes and embody but in this sort of heroic way. Bioncle's base elements, meaning there is a known Toa for each of them, are Fire, Water, Earth, Air/Wind (the movies call it Wind a lot but the wiki just calls it Air), Stone (Yes, Stone and Earth are different elements in this context), and Ice. So, 6 Toa, 6 Elements. Each individual Toa has their own unique weapon, and that weapon can (and usually does) as a conduit for their elemental power (even when used by someone else, interestingly enough), but each Toa has a unique ability that isn't actually tied to their element but more a reflection of an aspect of their personality in the form of their "Mask Power," so yes, each Toa mask has different power and ability. Granted, you'll have to go into each Toa's bio and look at the masks they had to learn what sort of power each mask has,
So, the idea of these biomechanical beings having their life data basically copied and incorporated into a Digimon is sort of fun to think about. a MetalGururmon with the data of an Ice Toa could be fun to see, especially when you take the mask power of that particular Toa being superimposed onto that MetalGururmon to give MetalGururumon that power as well, one of the Ice Toa had the power to see through solid objects while another Ice Toa had the power of Telekenisis, can you imagine a MetalGururumon with supercharged Ice powers and the power to move things with its mind? That would be absolutely ridiculous; or WarGreymon with supercharged Fire powers with the ability to generate energy shields or turn invisible? Yeah, one of the Fire Toa has the ability to generate energy shields while another was shown with the power to turn invisible, the Toa with the power to turn invisible also had these prophetic-like visions but also suffered from confidence issues.
I will say this there are some x anti-body version digimon which fit their level just as one of those digimon power ups that give them the strength of their upper level while staying at their current level giving them that suprise strength factor. Ex. A champion with the strength of an ultimate
CresGarurumon might be my favourite ultimate/mega. I loved when the vpet 20th came out with those new Digimon and Alter S might be my favourite Omegamon (after Omekamon lol) 02 and Xros Wars made me love gold Digimon. And its evolution in 2020 was great, plus I love its weapon. But honestly I think I like adult and perfect Digimon more overall almost nothing beats Garurumon and Weregarurumon. I had the digivolving toy as a kid and I took it with me everywhere lol.
I legitimately couldnt tell the difference between Garurumon and Gururumon until someone explained it to me this year lol
I like that BlackWereGarurumon is usually show to keep his tail but normal WereGarurumon is hit or miss on the tail depending on the media it's in.
Gabumon's Digivolution line is my fave, love a lot of others but it's such a good line for me.
I was really turned off by most of the X-antibody variants when they started debuting - and the animation of X-Evolution didn't help any. Looking back at the card art now, I can concede that MetalGarurumon X is definitely cooler than I gave him credit for. Still not an S for me, but maybe B+/A-.

There is new art for garurumon x and weregarurumon x btw. The card game has them in an upcoming booster deck. I have them in Japanese. They aren’t in English yet
And I didn’t care for the black garurumon until the card game. The card for that one is the best garurumon art yet.

I was excited when I heard about Gururumon in world 2, but I was let down… I think I’ll re draw it the way I thought it would look as a psychemon lover.
Personally, I think Ancient Garurumon’s design works better as a fusion evolution for Beowulfmon than the actual design we got. Ancient Garurumon’s design just kinda flows better as a combination on the human and beast spirits if you ask me

Funny enough, when I was a kid, I preferred Gabumon over Agumon. But, now as an adult, I've grown to love Agumon's whole lines over the Gabumon lines. I think the only exception being the Light Spirit. There are just designs I don't like all that much (mainly WereGarurumon. Something feels off with him, clunky like you said) and Blitzgreymon just blows Cres out of the water. I still love Metal Garu but the Grey's just keep winning with each new addition. If Survive adds a new Greymon, I'm sure I'll adore it like Victory, Blitz, and War

i love the first time i see metal garurumon X in the Dmw4, one of many reason that i play that game even till this date in emulator. but magnagarurumon still be on special place in my heart. because i didnt really favour the weird & unique concept of frontier, but seeing metal garurumon became a plane just sold that series thoroughly. its even capable to left the wing and gun to go full melee to respect the lobomon fighting style if i remember correctly.
I'm with you on ShadowWereGarurumon/WereGarurumon (Black), but I'm an edgelord, so... yeah. I'm also totally down for MetalGarurumon X, despite not caring too much for X-Antibodies. MagnaGarurumon is definitely S-tier and probably my favorite Garurumon-species Digimon.
I seriously want Toei/BamCo give us an anime and/or game that focuses on the X-Antibody, specifically focusing on X-Antibody variants and not just new X-Antibody digimon. I know we do have some games, but a new one would be nice. I just want to see more out of the X-Antibody variants than what we got in the CGI Movie.

Some of the X-Antibodies are...hit or miss. It def doesn't help that some of the art feels very cluttered because of the alternate styles and there aren't many alternate poses or reference sheets avaliable. Garurumon losing its iconic (in my opinion) ribbon tail def had me questioning if X-Antibody designs were worth attempting.
But then I see Ogremon X and I'm like _HELL YEAH THIS WAS WORTH IT!_

For me, MagnaGarurumon with all his giant cannons and weaponry is S+++++ tier. One of the best digimon, full stop.
But the moment in the show he drops all his weapons and he's just a weird lanky, pale blue, wolf baby thing he instantly turns into like a C tier for me.

Hot take: Weregarurumon always felt like a mega counterpart to Wargreymon, both being a lot more humanoid in shape. Metal Greymon and Metal Garurumon felt like the same level for a myriad of reasons.
You should make a what if the other 8 spirits got forms using the other spirits becoming forms like KaiserGreymon and MagnaGarurumon

It's weird, on paper, I definitely like the Garurumon-family more than the Greymon-family, wolves being my favorite animal and all (although despite me also being really into dragons for a while now, that didn't really help most of the Greymon-family), but somehow, I'm somehow even more "sick" of Garurumon than I am of Greymon (carrying over to most of Garurumons line as they keep a lot of its features intact, unlike Greymon, which might be where Garurumon makes up on the "overexposure"), and that despite Greymon definitely getting a lot more overexposure than Garurumon. Maybe it's exactly because my favorite animals are wolves, so the more I look at it, the more I can see overexaggerated features that, to me, kinda tear it away from that, like its overly long snout, or the tail, or how its pelt looks so... skintight. I mean, in a way, that's just the way Digimon were designed back then, but I just don't like it for Garurumon. Perhaps even more ironically, while Garurumon X basically fixes most of these complaints I have, I'm really not sure if I actually like it more or less, perhaps because without context, I don't think I'd be able to recognize it as Garurumon, I think it went a bit too far, but also it looking at least a bit more like a "big bad wolf" when that's almost opposite to how it is. It DOES work really well as a bridge to MetalGarurumon though.
I'm a bit softer on Gururumon, simply because of how forgotten it feels, but basically, all I said above also applies to it and BlackGarurumon, they really don't take much from each other. My biggest hope would be that Gururumon gets its own, slightly more unique evolution-line, since the Garurumon-family is behind compared to the Greymon--family anyways... Astamon was pretty good for that, although it already had its own line in the first place.
I definitely get the complaints about WereGarurumon as well, though I've always been partial to bipedal Digimon, and it's literally based on a werewolf, so I feel like I can forgive most of its awkward elements. Especially if seen as a standalone Digimon, not as a step between Garurumon and MetalGarurumon, because otherwise, yeah, it's very much just the odd one out. Though I also prefer BlackWereGarurumon. WereGarurumon X is definitely the best one though, kinda remedying its awkward position in the line to MetalGarurumon while still staying quite accurate to the original... although something about the tongue hanging out and the choker makes it seem kinda like furry-art... Saggitarius-mode is pretty terrible though, the modern wings clash too much with WereGarurumons wild, kinda punk-y design, making no efforts to really smoothen over that.
I... honestly was never too big on MetalGarurumon, for one because it just felt like a step back to me as a child, on the other hand because it's also "just" a wolf-cyborg with weird wings and such... yeah, it just doesn't work for me. The X-Antibody is a lot cooler for me, because it takes more of the bipedal from WereGarurumon, but it's also not just an armored wolf anymore, it has its heavy weaponry right out already, and no weird wings. I'm still a bit more eh on it as it's still MetalGarurumon, and I think in general I think I would've just preferred them going for a more organic design. The bit about wearing heavy weaponry didn't really help ZeedGarurumon though, to me it just feels like MetalGarurumon with a cannon screwed on its back, where VictoryGreymon at least feels somewhat more unique as it went from using gauntlets to using a giant sword.
CresGarurumon... is weird to me, I like the concept, a bipedal Garurumon using traditional weaponry, but... something in the execution just bothers me, the obnoxious golden armor with way too many edges covering its entire body, the pose... actually, looking again at it in the anime, and its New Century-artwork, it looks a lot better there, so the issues I have are mostly with its original art. So taking that into account, it's probably around the same level as MetalGarurumon X for me.
I definitely agree on AncientGarurumon, its bulkyness might be what's dragging it down for me too. Honestly, when I first saw it in the movie, I was somewhat disappointed with it, despite me generally being a sucker for the Spirit-Digimon and everything surrounding them, but I definitely came to appreciate it more over time. Still, the fact that I can't really confidently put it over CresGarurumon, despite it being a wolf using swords, a combination of 2 of my favorite things, is somewhat telling. (Also note that for the WarGreymon-MetalGarurumon connection between AncientGreymon and AncientGarurumon, they also swapped weapons, AncientGreymon has blasters on its body while AncientGarurumon has a sword for each hand). Honestly, I think slimming it down a bit, maybe making the head a bit smaller, would already do a lot for me to like AncientGarurumon more... things for an X-Antibody variant, I guess... or for MagnaGarurumon, because it's basically perfect, carrying the cyborg-traits of MetalGarurumon (along with the artillery), while also keeping a lot of the wolf-like traits very visible, the over-the-top plane-like armor, and it can shed all that and go over to faster combat with 2 freaking lightsabers, it's great, definitely on top of my ranking.
