Hi Cookie 😊 I just spent a week at Zermatt. I have a One X2. I used the backpack mount AND LOVED IT!!! I didn’t even bother to try “Ponytail”. I’m not such a fan of the “Unicorn”. One thing is for sure my days / uses with GoPro are numbered. I have posted a ton of video on my channel. I would be honored if you gave a video or two a look. The channel is in my name. I also did a review of the Black Crows “Mirus Cor” with some backpack mount and new ski pole mount footage. Your videos have helped quite a bit… THANKS COOKIE 😊⛷
Great tutorial with accessories. I've noticed with many demonstrations on ski pole mounts for the X3, the pole planting is subtle or not at all. How does actual pole planting affect the shots?
Both get great shots… as long as you have a stick you’re ok…. Gets so many shots just on that…. Then the bag mount us mess necessary as you just stick it out if the bag! I use the unicorn a lot!
Juat found your channel. Great ski footage which obviously is the key thing, but love how you spend time talking about the tech! Would love to know what mics youre using. I take its something like a Rode radio mic or something similar?
Hi there Cookie..great video.🙂.So...I'm going skiing end of month.. i ordered quick release mount( not really sure how that helps..or if that connects to a helmet at all)Also im told at equip. Rental some helmets will have bracket/place to connect mount.(wondering if i could rely on that or need sticky mount thing.?.and if that is used. Is it easy to take it off before returning equip./helmet?). I have the camera , selfie stick and ski pole mount comming. Seems little confusing figuring out mounts..Also when u used unicorn mount you had cam. Lenses going up and down. How do you know for other shots if you should have lenses positoned left and right..? Also...is the idea to pick a mount..cam position before u go down a run..stick with that..finish the run? Thanks😀
So many questions…you’re going to have fun playing with the camera! Tips… - bring mounts with you, don’t reply in rental shops having anything. - stuck on a mount to a rental helmet if you want… wouldn’t worry about taking it off after. - us one mount/attachment per run… then faff of lifts/ques to change. Only record when you’re actually doing something, saves time in edit later! Up/down lenses only matter for close ups- helmet if unicorn when looking back… rest of the time lens can point anywhere. 👍👍

NB we are going by our electric car as we want to make sure there is snow in the Alps for the foreseeable future. Climate change is fact not fiction. I started skiing late in my twenties in the mid 80s and even I have noticed the massive loss of snow. I’ve always driven and going skiing was an experience as you passed Paris and the weather was snow from Paris to the Alps. Not anymore!
I've yet to use my insta360 X3 but plan to do so this Feb. I noticed that regardless of poles, it seems pretty heavy. While it is okay for a short while, I am a little doubting the comfort of filming for an extended period of time. What is your take on using counterweights?
It’s not too heavy at all, on helmit yiu won’t notice, unicorn you do- but get used to it quick. Pole mount is great, balanced against the pole anyway! 👍

You can pile plant no problem- but the more you move the pole the stranger the shot will look!
Headed to St Anton next week and I’m now sold on this camera. I have a pole mount. Between unicorn and backpack mount, which do you prefer?

Yes, the sticky but the goes into the helmit is the same as go pro 👍
What is the link for the helmet mount that snaps on? The one on insta360 site is the screw on version.
