    I served in the 82nd Airborne Div during the time when GEN Dunwoody was the 782nd Commander. She is a Soldier's commander and most definitely leads from the front.

      jm82dabn I like a general who leads from the front it make it easier to nail them from behind. Lol.... but I don't think anyone would want ro nail these 2 so they have nothing to worry about.

    • @Helo1able
      @Helo1able 9 лет назад +2

      +Steve Cochrane Okay..... Who said they were hero's?? I haven't read where someone said they were.

    • @Helo1able
      @Helo1able 8 лет назад +3

      +Steve Cochrane That isn't necessarily so. There are men and women serving now and who served, who by their actions and without being awarded any Congressional medals did something selfless. They went and helped a people in another country and saved thousands of lives doing it. Not sure what your definition of HERO is, but there is more than one. Take care.

    These two outstanding generals definitely show exactly what persistence and perseverance can do for a person. Gender need never play a role in who a woman can be, and nowadays we're getting more and more 4 star officers from the Air Force, Army and Navy, in time the Marine Corps and Coast Guard will get there too. I agree with Robert Wright meeting these two Generals who are role models, leaders and just overall great individuals would be a privilege, even though their now both retired their still role models for tomorrow's leaders!

Thank you for the up-armored victors and the best gear, Ma'am. General Ann Dunwoody would move everything fast. Her command would try to get materiels to us yesterday or the day before. Being in Ordnance, a soldier would her about General Dunwoody strategy and tactics. She moved a lot of Shithooks with a lot of shit. She really was legendary for more than being the first female in her capacity. Excellent really.

    One "Big notice" for the USAF General. No wings! Not even basic wings, with low hours. The Army General, however, is "Loaded." She has Master Parachutist Jump wings -I think at least 65 jumps and is a Jumpmaster - lots of work there. She also has jump wings awarded her by other countries. (Granted, you make a couple of jumps with "the foreign country" military, and they will probably award you their jump wings.) But the USAF General? Should have been a flyer. First time I've seen a USAF General Officer without wings. Most have "Command Pilot" wings, which require a lot of flight hours and years of commissioned service.

    • @sf64100
      @sf64100 2 года назад +1

      What crap! There are many USAF Flag Officers that came up through specialties other than aviation. It takes a whole lot of non-operational folks to put aircraft in the sky. She didn't need to fly to be a great leader...

    Truth is pretty much all Generals and Admirals in the top echelons of the military are political generals. It use to be that the President and Secretery of Defense would try to keep a balance between political generals who were basically presidential yes men and ass kissers for personal advancment above everything else with practical military generals that would give them honest advice on strategy. For instance Dwight Eisenhower was a good political general but or poor tactician who left military planning to men like Omar Bradley and George S Patton who were strategy minded generals. Admiral Ernest King during WW2 was head of the Navy but left overall Navel strategy to Chester Nimitz and Bull Halsey. Even during the first gulf war you had Colin Powell who basically flattered his way to the top spot in the Army and Norman Swarzkopf who actually planned the military operation against Iraq. But over the past ten years the leadership in the military has gotten more complacent and political with alot of ivory tower politician generals like David Petraus, Martin Dempsey, Ray Odierno and Admiral Mullen each of wich could not hold even shine the shoes of Douglas Macarthur, Omar Bradley,George S Patton or Jimmy Dolittle.(And if people here do not know who they are I suggest you look them up).As for these two generals I suspect that the army just needed two four star generals with vaginas in order to satisfy a political quota.

    • @Ace-Av8er
      @Ace-Av8er 6 лет назад +4

      @clark57225 4 года назад +2

      Steve, I see that you know a lot, but not enough, about Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was a master strategist, which led to his first star. He frequently and openly disagreed with General Douglas MacArthur, but received the general's highest recommendation for promotion in wartime service. Subordinate generals are not yes-men, but are a rich resource of experience, knowledge, wisdom and education who should be consulted for advice and strategy, and upon whom great responsibility is placed. It is ignorant to reduce someone with whom you might disagree to "ass kisser" or "political." From your perspective -- perhaps on the losing side of an argument -- it might appear that way. Other perspectives, however, came to different conclusions.

    Interesting to watch this now with Hillary Clinton being first female that a party elected for their presidential candidate. As I grew up in the 80s, I used to think that we wouldn't have a female President until we had females in the military to receive 4 Stars. IF my research is correct, we have had 3 ladies receive 4 Stars between 2008 (Dunwoody) and 2014 (Michelle Howard), one in 3 different branches (Army, Air Force, Navy).

    I wonder where General Janice Karpensky would be today if the bogus army hadn't blamed the torturing on her at Abu Graub Prison in Iraq that was done by the clandestine CIA. The Army always needs someone to take the blame for the mistakes or others. So they forced her out with retirement. Nice of them. Someone told Lindy England to torture the prisoners being tortured by the CIA. THey let the boys off and blamed the women.
