Great quirky haunting music. Thanks for including the link! I love kinetic sculpture and ball runs, the effort put in and resulting quality of this one are apparent.
Thanks Tom, It was initially going to be a 6 ball tipping arm, but it made the sculpture too busy all at once. I researched a heap of kinetic sculpture info and made something similar. I'm always thinking of new ways to make components, but remember, I do love that release mechanism of yours!
Thanks, Dave. I don't feel I can take much credit for that release mechanism. I just looked at Matt Gaulden's release and was wanting one that was a bit simpler and quicker to make. Soon I will have something big to show off. I worked on it for over two hours tonight, and I think I only lost one marble during testing. Getting close!
Do u solder or weld them together the joints and rails etc.? I’m thinking of building one myself is why I ask even since I seen one of these a long time ago I’ve always wanted to build one just to play with any tips would be helpful like what kind of materials best cheapest metal to use to rails etc. not looking for anything extravagant just want it for my workshop thought it would be a fun project for me and my daughter
YESSSSS! I LOVE that multi-track switch!!!! I was just thinking of how to design one this past week! You've beat me to it again, Dave. One of these days I hope to have enough time to develop and implement all the things in my head so I'm not feeling like I'm following in your footsteps every time I do something. Nice work!!! I am envious. Oh, and cool music too!
I visited a science center and there was one of these thingies and there were parts where the marble fell about a rulers length, bounced on a block of wood, and landed perfectly on the track and carried on rolling.
Very cool. Just curious - the loading mechanism is obviously motor-driven - but is it even possible to design a 100% perpetual / kinetic sculpture? Has anyone ever seen one...?
Interested in purchasing: 1) an RBS with a Bing-Bang-Boing sequence - using small drums with rubber heads.which the balls bounce off of and then land in a cone collector 2) an RBS with Evel Knievel jumps where the Balls fly off a Ramp . . sail 1 to 3 feet through the air . . and land on a receiving Ramp Sadly - no one has ever put these rather simple ideas into an RBS
Thanks for the feedback. Feel free to contact me through the website. I'd be happy to work with you to design your ultimate RBS. I look forward to hearing from you.
There is something about this video that, for me, seems to make it particularly compelling. I think, apart from the sculpture itself, that the music is particularly well suited to it. I even like the music for its own sake. I've pulled this up several times just to run it while I'm doing other things on the computer.
I no longer have the sculpture, so that might be a little difficult. You can watch all of my videos if you like... there's a few hours of them to watch. 👍👍
I love these rolling ball sculptures, but it would have been a better video if you included the entire thing, so we could see the full marble run at least once.
bonsaiorchid1 If you would like further details regarding my sculptures, please send me an enquiry through my website and I can give you further details.
Wow, amazing! And here I was all proud of my little copper one. :P I can't imagine working all of those out of steel. It must be hard to sell them once you're finished... The music is perfect for this, too.
needed a shot of the whole thing running for like a solid 20 seconds at the end not just like 5 seconds man.. i was waiting for the shot the whole video and then it only shows it for like 5 seconds??
Everyone's different... but I would of liked a wide shot for 5 minutes n no music. I'd prefer to hear the marbles on the run, especially if you're selling them.
Even cooler if the marble lifter is powered by perpendicular energy like water or wheels. Doesnt mean this is not a cool sculpture thou. I just give an idea to improve.
I LOVE the counter on this one. You are inspiring, Mr. Morrell!
I wonder if anyone has made a similar sculpture with a bigger counter, maybe in binary, that takes minutes or even hours to cycle!
Great quirky haunting music. Thanks for including the link!

Very pleasant to watch! I would have loved that, at 3:01, time enough was allowed to watch the full sequence, with the full sculpture in frame.
Yeah that would have been a nice way to end the video, but even so, watching this was really cool!
@@PunmasterSTP Yep 🙂
2020? Also kinda annoyed you didn’t show the full run but clips, still a cool intricate marble run
I wish I could like this twice! I have two thumbs in real life, and if I had two thumbs in RUclips, they'd both be up right now.
👍👍

These sculptures are welded.

this is true Art & engineering - thank you for sharing
Thank you for taking the time to write nice comments! 👍
You make 7 years ago a perfect video about that awesome track in a perfect quality😱 how!?
David morrell sir rolling Ball sculptures are cool and excited for example their bunch of rolling Ball sculptures.
Amazing thank you
Nice closeups on the balls, and interesting music 👍
And that part at 1:06 was really cool; I'm not sure I've seen something like that before!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Super mesmerizing to watch.
Thank you very much
Hi and thank you for the great work, I have a Q please, you know I got a lot of clothes hanger can I use it for the making ???
I wouldn't use coat hangars, as they are usually galvanised. If welded, they give off toxic fumes/gases.
It is a cool piece of music, for sure! Glad you like it.
This is beautiful!
Thank you!!

Gchh
Beautifully shot video. Nice sculpture too. Those fake sections are great looking.
Very cool. Just curious - the loading mechanism is obviously motor-driven - but is it even possible to design a 100% perpetual / kinetic sculpture? Has anyone ever seen one...?
+Zippy DoDah theres no such thing as 100% perpetual motion so its not possible
Perpetual motion is not impossible. The Earth rotating on its axis as it orbits the sun is proof of that
just harvest free energy
Woww... Spettacolare... Stupendo... Complimenti
this tune made the most of my b&o laptop speakers!
What do you use for bending the metal and is it welded or soldered?
I bend by hand, and everything is welded.
Really awesome! Can I ask what method of soldering you used? Eg, flame, iron, resistance etc?
Thanks Jayden - I use Mig Welding
I can't believe you used part of a mac to make this.

Hypnotic, there something almost magical about these.
Pretty good youtube reccomendation for these months of quarantine.
Thanks... I've got over a 150 sculpture vids to watch. Plenty to see!
Hey David, I was wondering whether you soldered or welded this sculpture. Thank you in advance :)
All my sculptures are welded. 👍
Can you make a mechanical binary counter using that?
It has been done before. 🙂
David Morrell nice :-) also did you see the danial Bruin video about how to make these it’s actually how I found your video
It seems I'm at the early tide of random recommendations
Same
Cool video, very nice editing!
And a great sculpture, obviously :)
This is the coolest thing ever!!!
This video plays like it should. Awesome!
My cat would be absolutely riveted.
can you make a one hour video of only the final perspective? =) =)
I no longer have the sculpture, so that might be a little difficult. You can watch all of my videos if you like... there's a few hours of them to watch. 👍👍
+1 with regards to the track switch. And of course the rest of the machine is fabulous as well.
hi David. what do you think about bronze to make the track?
I love these rolling ball sculptures, but it would have been a better video if you included the entire thing, so we could see the full marble run at least once.
Fair call, but the music finished. 😁
Wow 25mm marbles that track must be alot bigger than expected
Good afternoon, what kind of wire do you use ?, Greetings.
Just ordinary mild steel.
@@rollingballdave Thank you
Hi, awesome work!! What gauge wire do you use? it looks pretty big, 10-12 gauge? thanks
いいですね、BGMもぴったり。
I would like to build something like that. Can you give me some details?
You should check out his website.
What kind of balls did you use?
Glass marbles.
Are you selling this, if so please contact me back asap! I'd really like to buy this!
It was purchased by a collector over a year ago.
ok, thanks. Do you have any others for sale. If you do, how much do they go for?
bonsaiorchid1 If you would like further details regarding my sculptures, please send me an enquiry through my website and I can give you further details.

The music is perfect for this, too.

Check out my website for details.
This is mesmerizing :0
I love it! 👍😊
why does this marble track remind me of willy wonkas bonbon fabric?
needed a shot of the whole thing running for like a solid 20 seconds at the end not just like 5 seconds man.. i was waiting for the shot the whole video and then it only shows it for like 5 seconds??
手作りですか?
yeah i gotta agree with these guys come on, wide shot. even for 7 years ago this isnt ok, unless ur at least 60 then ill give u a pass this time.
Watch to the end. 👍
The music sounds like someone's on a typewriter. I like it.
Fun fact,it actually is a typewriter, the musician is Pablo City,u should check it out
@@MeMelon4u What's the track called?
55 ppl who suffer from sfairesphobia, pour things.
Amazing work btw!
I think this can be considered a perpetual motion machine.
I like this😍
Thanks!

Cool i want one!
Thanks!
Sort of reminds me of those old pinball machines.
Alguno sabe un vídeo de rock suave en inglés donde sale unos jóvenes tocando en un apartamento y a su alrededor sale este juego de esfera
This man has written اللہ (GOD) unintentionally in his work at 1:33
No doubt HE is every where.
No doubt ALLAH every where
amazing
This is so cool
saludos, hermoso diseño y gran trabajo!!
👍👍👍👍👍, saludos desde el estado de México.
there's one just like this in the science center in california
I love the music
めっちゃすげえ
Nice
Thanks
beautiful!!
Very nice. Exelente.

Really cool but a wide shot would have been great. And that music... had to turn down the volume. Ugh. How about the sounds of the machine?
Difficult to get a wide shot, but near the end of the video you see the entire sculpture.
Браво!!!
*Fun Fact: You did not look this up*
Video doesn't play Without skipping.
Now imagine if this was a roller coaster ride
-G forces and comfortable ride experience has left the chat.
back in my day we used to call those marble runs or marble tracks but ok
Yes... many different names for this style of marble machine 👌
Amazing
muy interesante el juego
